You have provided the most information I've seen on this subject so far. From what you presented, this seems to be a valid alternative for new Drivers. Gives the Driver some time to save up for a down payment and build a maintenance account for a future truck. The Insurance strategy is something I didn't know about. That's really cool. So you can buy the truck at the end of the rental agreement. That's an option, especially if the truck is running great and you have gotten to know the quirks of the vehicle.
I am thinking of doing it only two weeks per month. Do u think I will reach 5000 miles in two weeks of hot shot and two weeks as personal car? Do u think that’s worthy ? By the way the other two weeks I will have good income from another flexible job. Thank yoy
@@vivabarca2009 Hey bud, it depends on your region and where you plan on hauling loads. Average mileage per week I would say between 2000-2500, so if you are just using the truck for 2 weeks out of the month, you will probably reach 5K miles, and its best to stay right at that 5K miles, because if you use more than that every month, the rental gets expensive, in my opinion.

Also, if you have to pick up the truck in Indiana, you might as well pick up the trailer there as well and start hauling form there day one! Already have a trailer? Then sign up and haul a mobile home, or some other trailer back to near where you live! Trailers need to be moved from the manufacturer to the sales lot, right? If you are going to drive 2000+ miles to drive home, why not get paid to do it? If I'm driving someplace I had much rather get paid for doing it.

we rented trucks from Indianapolis we was their first and longest hot shot renter until we left spring 2020 we did it for 3 years and it was great cost 32k a year to rent no maintenance at all was perfect for hot shots
@@jhonnicash5958 truck was 100% covered under them and price was built into the rental fee that is not the insurance required to have dot numbers and cover cargo that is truck coverage only

It seems like a great way to come up with an 80k truck and trailer without deep pockets and great credit. I will probably just buy the truck adter 60k miles. I'm only 8 hours away from them down here in Tennessee.
I think you would want to pay off that $60,000 truck in 3 years because you are putting about 96,000 miles on in a year at 8,000 a month. With $10,000 down your monthly payment would be around $1,500 a month. Not sure what I would do, but you sure should save a lot of money for breakdowns even if you had a $1,500 payment. Hotshot Adventures It was just so straightforward and clear you didn’t have to guess about anything but exactly how much you need but that’s your business LOL, you gave us numbers that anyone that knows how to do math and figure it out, kinda but your a cool chick I think ima roll the dice and buy a older semi with a much lower price tag on my own and try to get an extra ordinary good insurance program, with an extremely lower monthly payment for buying a semi I am in a different situation because I have a CDL A license I don’t care about weight but the school that I went to was paid for by the state and they did not care whether or not I could drive the truck so I must drive a automatic semiI’m going to roll the dice and it’s been about 20 grand on a used automatic semi with very very good full coverage insurance with extra perks to try to fix all the problems that may occur but I am not going to spend that much money to not worry about Breakdowns and things of that nature I’m not a mechanic but I am mechanically inclined and I will put my knowledge to the test with this endeavor and I thank you so much for your input you’re amazing for putting these things out because people don’t do stuff like this in this type of detail. Good video... I'm going Wit enterprise also.. The benefit really comes in if you stay in the business after a year then the benefit of the enterprise rental cost wise starts to make more sense
It's whatever you think is best for you. I kind of look at it as renting a house or buying a house. If you have the ability to buy, it may be a wise decision, most people don't stay renting a home because they don't want to deal with the upkeep of maintaining a home of their own. Some people do, but the majority I would say, would prefer to buy.
I’m just going to say I got my cclb 2019 f350 lariat 4x4 6.7 for well under 1100 a month my truck new was only 67 an that’s 8 years or 150000 miles bumper to bumper warranty with road side assistance I got my truck with 8 miles on it you don’t need to spend 100k on a truck to get started

Great video, I'm also here in SoCal, I'm considering Hot Shot if I can't land a good job soon, I've done car transport with a 3 car hauler in the past so I know what it takes to be on the road but now a have a family so I have to figure that part out....Tow Piglet also has a video about the same program with enterprise, he does mention that the rental program is expensive in the short term, he also mentions about the benefits on the long term rental per mile.... he does run about 10k miles per month and he does cross country runs.... very similar to what Nat is talking about here.
He also makes sure he isnt just doing a partial run.. he will sit days somwhere, just to fill his trailer.. before deadheading 1000 miles. He is alos on the road.. more then then normal hotshot driver too. Man has he had ALOT of trailer axle/tire problems.. lol
I'm a trucker. I've done both hot shot and big rig. I'm telling you straight up. Start cleaning your credit. ( if you need to, you might not) if not then start saving 50 to 100 a week. In 14 to 18 months you can afford a used truck. And be able to be picky about the truck. You said you got a family now. Your gonna miss a loooot of family time out here. So enjoy it while you can. Once you start making trucker money. Its hard to make anything else. Why spend 6 to 8 k on a lease plus hidden charges. And be told when you can go home. When you can own and be home on special occasion s like birthdays and graduations and yada

Great vid. I personally buy . Enterprise are stripped basic trucks. I run laramies with factory air ride ( saves them tires) them heated and cooled seats the drivers like on a frosty day and my company delmonico red color . Enterprise covers maintenance but I have a pm program for maintenance and tires. And I stole a dodge ram mechanic that likes them after hour weekend 💰💰 repairs. But keep it going girl bet you like them dedicated accounts over the BS load boards. Keep knocking on doors it's the only way to be profitable.
Well, I see it like this, if I have to pay IN State tax, 7%, that's like purchasing a truck and paying an APR of 7%, it's 7% off the top either way; both are a write off at the end of the year, but, if you purchase, you have a truck after making all those payments.
@@HotshotAdventures I'm not sure how 7% on a per mile basis. (i.e. $200 per month on 10k miles) equates to an APR of 7% for a loan. Edit, Maybe I mis-heard, is it 7% of the total bill? Sorry. Also, based on the numbers I've run, if you keep up with the scheduled maintenance on a new truck and run it 120k per year, the costs are almost the same as renting, plus you get a new truck every 60k miles. If you bought a truck and ran it for 3 or 4 years, it would be worth virtually nothing in the end.
@@JeffSwal enterprise charges 7% Indiana State tax on the total bill, so my February bill was $2450, then tax was $172, bringing my total invoice for February $2628.95 Going off your mileage for a year of 120k x .22 per mile = $26,400 per year. Then add on 7% tax and Indiana plates charges for 12 months, you're looking at another $2,000. So for 1 year of running you're paying estimate $28,400, nearly $30k. If you go with the rental. Multiply $30,000 per year by 4 years, that's paying out $120,000 to run in a truck that costs $60,000 to purchase. I truly believe it is a matter of preference, and there are pros and cons to both sides of that coin. Its been a good program for me overall. Are you doing a rental through Enterprise?

It's been a long time since I've rented a truck for business so I don't remember how the tax worked. But I'd get an Indiana sales tax exemption form and read it closely. You might be able to get those taxes returned from the state. Do you have your own MC #? I've never had to pay sales tax in Pa NJ, DE, WV, or NY on anything for my business.
Ok review but Tow Piglet has good informative videos on Enterprise rental as well. Indiana is not only location that does truck rental. He found this out later as well. Also He has reviews on multiple rentals. I believe he is on his 4th Enterprise truck. Hes had 2 Rams and is on his 2nd Ford. Hes done vehicle turn in / pickup videos and breaks down all costs of oil changes, tires etc.
Each of these Enterprise Truck Centers are owned by different people. So it depends on the owner as to what he or she will offer. The Enterprise in my area has the same program for commercial businesses licensed in my state. The rates here seem a bit higher, and the insurance is really high. In the end, it's cheaper for a guy to buy a truck and pay 1500$ per month payment and not deal with the stress and rules of Enterprise.
@@brandond5657 If you take care of the truck and don't abuse it, the cost are very low for maintenance. I keep my rigs under 65mph and my main cost is just changing oil and replacing tires for snow in winter.
Everyone tries to justify enterprise. Come on everyone enterprise is a rental company. If they can be profitable at .23 a mile why can’t you be? If you apply the numbers to your self you can do the same, but you have to buy a plain basic low end truck like enterprise offers. Even the junk rail system for your hitch. Steel wheels on and on. That’s a 55-58k truck. 100k miles a year is 23k if you pay yourself what you pay enterprise you can trade out yearly without negative equity
You killed the maintenance aspect/issue. In 19' I spent 22k on maintenance for the year. If you can do trucking, minus the maintenance bill, your as lean as possible for your overhead.👍
Enterprise has it figured in. They rent for profit. They do bare minimum maintenance. Don’t change air filters. Oil every 10k, fuel every 20k. There not truck with max tow package.
@@HotshotAdventures Houston enterprise is a little different but it adds up to the same as Mishawaka, IN program. In Houston its 1500 a month and 15 cent per mile. You get 5,000 miles free before the 15 cent per mile starts. 60k on the truck u get a new one. There is no waiting list currently. Im paying about 2300 a month. The most I've paid was 2500.

@@J.O.A.T.s Pros...you can get point to point faster than tractor trailers. You can go places tractor trailers can't You get better mpg generally. Cons...you're sleeping in your truck or a hotel. Not enough room for all your stuff. Harder to find a decent paying load nearby. Parts on the equipment wear out faster. Some brokers and shippers want to pay you less just because you're a hotshot. I can add more as I think of em...

@@J.O.A.T.s no problem Jack. I've been doing it for 2 years now, I'm 57. Drove tractor trailer 28 years. Hotshot is my 1st experience with flatbed. Add onto the cons if your not class A it's even harder getting loads. All that being said, I mainly do full load and stay in my region. I don't try to fill partials and go cross country.
So had you took the leap and purchased a new truck at the beginning you would have saved roughly 8,800 dollars in that 8 month period. You have to balance out the fact would you spend that much in maintenance after the 8 months? Ehhh not likely. If you buy a truck put truck in your name and then lease truck to your company. You can then “charge” your company to lease your truck. Love your videos and thank you for taking the time to make them
All very true, excellent comment! No, first 2 yrs of maintenance on a new truck should just be, in my opinion, tires, brakes, fluids... But I rented first to test the waters, and bought new right after rental. Tow Piglet sent me here. Enterprise is clearly the better way to go, unless there is a competitor out there with something better. You made a wise choice. Wow, didn't expect such a beautiful truck driver. ;) You can just get a load going that way to Indiana and a load back. I think your a smart woman and making great choices. Buying a new truck and wearing it out makes no sense.
So first I must have a cdl for. This program I have to. Put 3700 and I have no problem with Maintanance mam? What about the load are they going to give and dot and llc is with enterprise?
@@HotshotAdventures for sure... I'm just biding my time right now to see what happens with the prop22/ab5.. i have two drivers who want to work for me in fuel but at a certain point, staying in fuel is only bragging rights of i can make the same money elsewhere and with less risk.
So Enterprize wants $4000 down plus .22 a mile with 5000 mile min. charge per month. So at 10:30 you started to address what happens if after 30,000 miles you find out that you can not make a living with it, do you still owe Enterprize $1100 for the next 6 months or 30,000 miles? Do you get any of your deposit back.You started to explain then changed and then went on. Thanks info needed.
I think if you can't "make a living" as you say, while paying an avg $1,000/month payment, whether you rent or buy, then the business will not likely be open for long. It's a transportation business, a truck is the primary piece of equipment you'll need. It's a necessity. And to answer your other question, yes, I was given a full deposit refund.
I still think it's cheaper to purchase finance at the end you own the truck and thoae HD trucks go way more than 60k sure some maintenance is required but if you know basic mechanic stuff you can save on oil change and brakes and whatsoever also alot of people are saying enterprises is fully booked and they can't get to lease from them i think tow piglet blowed them up
Being in the navy and inspecting vehicles as military police roll..I seen tons of these enterprise rentals from box trucks to hot shot trucks...bunch of these guys delivering frieght for different companies..I would ask why they had rental vehicles and they said their company has a busy peak season and don't have enough trucks for all the drivers they hired so they rent a lot. I've seen Amazon using enterprise too..so yea there has to be a bunch just in California..a quick search they are some in Fresno California as well..
Great and very informative video!! The plates from Indiana Enterprise.. are they apportioned/can be used to haul? Since its an Indiana truck can you commercially insure in IN?
I have a class a. The only difference between a class c, and a class b license is class b means you are endorsed for air brakes. With class b you still must remain under 26,000 lbs. Once you get into class a, the weight restriction is lifted.
But there is a long wait list. Plus if I have a truck, the payment might be 800.00 a month x 12 months =9,600 enterprise is .22 a mile @ 5,000 mile minimum a month = 1,100.00 1,100.00 x 12 months = 13,200.00 if I have my own truck, and I do 6,500 miles my payment is still 800.00 6,500 miles with enterprise, you now owe 1,430.00
I got fed up with Faye @ Enterprise Everytime i called she would tell me that her waiting list is full and that she is not adding anymore names then after a couple months of calling back and checking on the list she raised the number of people on her list but of course it was full and she still wasn't taking anymore names @that time and the down payment kept going up higher and higher
I called a few days ago.. I was told the same thing about the wait time... Youd think if they were so in demand.. being the ONLY place that rents these trucks to this type of Transporting.. they would get more people on board to get these trucks out to existing and potential new people, wanting to start transporting.. Down payment went up to $4k... $1500 for Damage Deposit, $1500 towards first months rent, $1000 for account/setup fee... So i wanted to get into this within the next 2 weeks to a month.. but now i cant.. I have to Wait... for who knows how long. I plan is to rent a truck first.. get my finances in order..and then purchase that same truck from enterprise... Im not sure if i want the 5.9 cummins or the 6.7 Dually
@@BSchorr I think the problem is getting the trucks from the manufacturer which of course was shut down or at least slowed down due to the pandemic, plus they have to get the guys, and gals, out of the trucks that have hit the mileage limit first

Do you have an example of a truck you was using that and how much you paid on the lease and how much was the offer to buy with the 10% off? My ram 5500 diesel cost me $55,555 new with a 5 year warranty, way cheaper than a lease so far... Even with class A expens.... Still cheaper than the lease....
@@OBS_J The bump to bump warranty is going to expire at 140,000 and my power train will expire at 200,000 or more pending on time and mileage, leasing your paying more upfront and as you go, plus you have to change your truck every 60,000 miles, I don't have to worry about it plus I can save money since I can work on it myself with little worry...
@@truthTransport Well it's whichever comes first, 5yrs or 100k miles on the powertrain. and the bumper to bumper is 3/36. Did you buy some sort of extended warranty? I just went to the dealer the other day to see what I could get for my 2013 and that's the warranty the offer on the new trucks.
@@alexmalm6406 i love it. We do non CDL RV transport so I can't go over 26001lbs. The 3/4 ton has a lower gvwr (8500lbs) compared to a 1 ton which is 12,700lbs.
Question - We are renting through enterprise but need the insurance requirements to start our own authority. Do they offer this general liability and cargo? Can I use that EOI (evidence of insurance) to apply for my own authority?
If you are referring to enterprise, no, payments can be made with debit or credit card. Either. That was my experience anyway. How was your experience with enterprise rental program?

The whole point of leasing vs buying is that you get a new truck entry 60k miles. Why would you turn around and then buy the used truck at the milage when statistically the diesel starts costing you money? That's the mileage when you start having DEF issues, DPF filters plug up, sensors go bad, injectors, head gaskets....
On the Indiana sales tax if you are a for hire carrier you are sale tax exempt. I've never paid sale tax on a new or used truck sense I've been in business. Just some thing to look into if I were you.
Renting is the only way to. go,because modern domestic diesel trucks begin to fall apart at around 100-120k miles, almost every repair $5000- $10000 ,often $15000,and down time for each can be 1-2 months. Those numbers look ridiculous, but it's true. Forget the old days, trucks build in 70 -80s could last 500000 miles without any break downs,only maintenance. Thanks for your honesty.
@@HotshotAdventures the poster is correct. Just take that 60-70k and divide it by 3-500k miles. Then add in normal maintenance and something for stuff that breaks, and you are going to see that 22 cpm from enterprise to always be in a new, reliable truck is the way to go. These trucks running hotshot do not last at all. First 100k, great, 100-300k lots more unplanned stuff breaks, 300k+ forget it, you will be broke down on the side of the road several times a year.
@@Alex-rn5hz Lets say you do 1,500 miles a week (which more than likely you will do more), thats $1,700 + 6,000 miles per month at .22 cents a mile, that equals $3,020.00 per month PLUS tax and any other fees they add on. Seems very high to me, how do you feel about it? What do you estimate to be grossing, with what type of estimation of miles it will take you to gross that amount? That rental is about 3 times the cost of the average truck payment if you were to purchase..
But did you everBreak down or had to swap out the truck before the 60,000 miles? And also where did the extra money come in at that you had to pay them double or triple sometimes what fee was that?
Could you hire a transporter for your pickup n drop offs to Mishawaka? Would that be cheaper? Maybe buy one truck from them. Use the purchase truck as a transport truck to get your rental back without running up the tab on miles? I dunno. Excellent video btw.

Hotshot Adventures It was just so straightforward and clear you didn’t have to guess about anything but exactly how much you need but that’s your business LOL, you gave us numbers that anyone that knows how to do math and figure it out, kinda but your a cool chick I think ima roll the dice and buy a older semi with a much lower price tag on my own and try to get an extra ordinary good insurance program, with an extremely lower monthly payment for buying a semi I am in a different situation because I have a CDL A license I don’t care about weight but the school that I went to was paid for by the state and they did not care whether or not I could drive the truck so I must drive a automatic semiI’m going to roll the dice and it’s been about 20 grand on a used automatic semi with very very good full coverage insurance with extra perks to try to fix all the problems that may occur but I am not going to spend that much money to not worry about Breakdowns and things of that nature I’m not a mechanic but I am mechanically inclined and I will put my knowledge to the test with this endeavor and I thank you so much for your input you’re amazing for putting these things out because people don’t do stuff like this in this type of detail. Good video... I'm going Wit enterprise also.. The benefit really comes in if you stay in the business after a year then the benefit of the enterprise rental cost wise starts to make more sense
It's whatever you think is best for you. I kind of look at it as renting a house or buying a house. If you have the ability to buy, it may be a wise decision, most people don't stay renting a home because they don't want to deal with the upkeep of maintaining a home of their own. Some people do, but the majority I would say, would prefer to buy.
I’m just going to say I got my cclb 2019 f350 lariat 4x4 6.7 for well under 1100 a month my truck new was only 67 an that’s 8 years or 150000 miles bumper to bumper warranty with road side assistance I got my truck with 8 miles on it you don’t need to spend 100k on a truck to get started

Great video, I'm also here in SoCal, I'm considering Hot Shot if I can't land a good job soon, I've done car transport with a 3 car hauler in the past so I know what it takes to be on the road but now a have a family so I have to figure that part out....Tow Piglet also has a video about the same program with enterprise, he does mention that the rental program is expensive in the short term, he also mentions about the benefits on the long term rental per mile.... he does run about 10k miles per month and he does cross country runs.... very similar to what Nat is talking about here.
He also makes sure he isnt just doing a partial run.. he will sit days somwhere, just to fill his trailer.. before deadheading 1000 miles. He is alos on the road.. more then then normal hotshot driver too. Man has he had ALOT of trailer axle/tire problems.. lol
I'm a trucker. I've done both hot shot and big rig. I'm telling you straight up. Start cleaning your credit. ( if you need to, you might not) if not then start saving 50 to 100 a week. In 14 to 18 months you can afford a used truck. And be able to be picky about the truck. You said you got a family now. Your gonna miss a loooot of family time out here. So enjoy it while you can. Once you start making trucker money. Its hard to make anything else. Why spend 6 to 8 k on a lease plus hidden charges. And be told when you can go home. When you can own and be home on special occasion s like birthdays and graduations and yada

1100.00 is minimum charge. If you run 10k a month it’s 2300.00. For a basic ford or ram 58-60k truck.
Great vid. I personally buy . Enterprise are stripped basic trucks. I run laramies with factory air ride ( saves them tires) them heated and cooled seats the drivers like on a frosty day and my company delmonico red color . Enterprise covers maintenance but I have a pm program for maintenance and tires.
And I stole a dodge ram mechanic that likes them after hour weekend 💰💰 repairs. But keep it going girl bet you like them dedicated accounts over the BS load boards. Keep knocking on doors it's the only way to be profitable.

Well, I see it like this, if I have to pay IN State tax, 7%, that's like purchasing a truck and paying an APR of 7%, it's 7% off the top either way; both are a write off at the end of the year, but, if you purchase, you have a truck after making all those payments.
@@HotshotAdventures I'm not sure how 7% on a per mile basis. (i.e. $200 per month on 10k miles) equates to an APR of 7% for a loan. Edit, Maybe I mis-heard, is it 7% of the total bill? Sorry.
Also, based on the numbers I've run, if you keep up with the scheduled maintenance on a new truck and run it 120k per year, the costs are almost the same as renting, plus you get a new truck every 60k miles. If you bought a truck and ran it for 3 or 4 years, it would be worth virtually nothing in the end.

Going off your mileage for a year of 120k x .22 per mile = $26,400 per year. Then add on 7% tax and Indiana plates charges for 12 months, you're looking at another $2,000. So for 1 year of running you're paying estimate $28,400, nearly $30k. If you go with the rental. Multiply $30,000 per year by 4 years, that's paying out $120,000 to run in a truck that costs $60,000 to purchase.
I truly believe it is a matter of preference, and there are pros and cons to both sides of that coin. Its been a good program for me overall. Are you doing a rental through Enterprise?

It's been a long time since I've rented a truck for business so I don't remember how the tax worked. But I'd get an Indiana sales tax exemption form and read it closely. You might be able to get those taxes returned from the state. Do you have your own MC #? I've never had to pay sales tax in Pa NJ, DE, WV, or NY on anything for my business.

Ok review but Tow Piglet has good informative videos on Enterprise rental as well. Indiana is not only location that does truck rental. He found this out later as well. Also He has reviews on multiple rentals. I believe he is on his 4th Enterprise truck. Hes had 2 Rams and is on his 2nd Ford. Hes done vehicle turn in / pickup videos and breaks down all costs of oil changes, tires etc.

Each of these Enterprise Truck Centers are owned by different people. So it depends on the owner as to what he or she will offer. The Enterprise in my area has the same program for commercial businesses licensed in my state. The rates here seem a bit higher, and the insurance is really high. In the end, it's cheaper for a guy to buy a truck and pay 1500$ per month payment and not deal with the stress and rules of Enterprise.
What about maintenance and stuff does it add up
@@brandond5657 If you take care of the truck and don't abuse it, the cost are very low for maintenance. I keep my rigs under 65mph and my main cost is just changing oil and replacing tires for snow in winter.

Where are these oil change prices coming from? A 2.5 gal jug of rotella T4 is $33 at walmart and a M1 filter is ~$10, oil change done for under $50.

Everyone tries to justify enterprise. Come on everyone enterprise is a rental company. If they can be profitable at .23 a mile why can’t you be? If you apply the numbers to your self you can do the same, but you have to buy a plain basic low end truck like enterprise offers. Even the junk rail system for your hitch. Steel wheels on and on. That’s a 55-58k truck. 100k miles a year is 23k if you pay yourself what you pay enterprise you can trade out yearly without negative equity

In 19' I spent 22k on maintenance for the year. If you can do trucking, minus the maintenance bill, your as lean as possible for your overhead.👍

Enterprise has it figured in. They rent for profit. They do bare minimum maintenance. Don’t change air filters. Oil every 10k, fuel every 20k. There not truck with max tow package.
It’s 30 cents per mile now with a 12 month commitment.
33 cpm with 6 month commitment.
Houston, Texas enterprise does this program as well.

Houston enterprise is a little different but it adds up to the same as Mishawaka, IN program. In Houston its 1500 a month and 15 cent per mile. You get 5,000 miles free before the 15 cent per mile starts. 60k on the truck u get a new one. There is no waiting list currently. Im paying about 2300 a month. The most I've paid was 2500.

Pros...you can get point to point faster than tractor trailers.
You can go places tractor trailers can't
You get better mpg generally.
Cons...you're sleeping in your truck or a hotel. Not enough room for all your stuff.
Harder to find a decent paying load nearby.
Parts on the equipment wear out faster.
Some brokers and shippers want to pay you less just because you're a hotshot.
I can add more as I think of em...

Add onto the cons if your not class A it's even harder getting loads. All that being said, I mainly do full load and stay in my region. I don't try to fill partials and go cross country.

So had you took the leap and purchased a new truck at the beginning you would have saved roughly 8,800 dollars in that 8 month period. You have to balance out the fact would you spend that much in maintenance after the 8 months? Ehhh not likely. If you buy a truck put truck in your name and then lease truck to your company. You can then “charge” your company to lease your truck. Love your videos and thank you for taking the time to make them

You can just get a load going that way to Indiana and a load back. I think your a smart woman and making great choices. Buying a new truck and wearing it out makes no sense.

So Enterprize wants $4000 down plus .22 a mile with 5000 mile min. charge per month. So at 10:30 you started to address what happens if after 30,000 miles you find out that you can not make a living with it, do you still owe Enterprize $1100 for the next 6 months or 30,000 miles? Do you get any of your deposit back.You started to explain then changed and then went on. Thanks info needed.
I think if you can't "make a living" as you say, while paying an avg $1,000/month payment, whether you rent or buy, then the business will not likely be open for long. It's a transportation business, a truck is the primary piece of equipment you'll need. It's a necessity.
And to answer your other question, yes, I was given a full deposit refund.
I still think it's cheaper to purchase finance at the end you own the truck and thoae HD trucks go way more than 60k sure some maintenance is required but if you know basic mechanic stuff you can save on oil change and brakes and whatsoever also alot of people are saying enterprises is fully booked and they can't get to lease from them i think tow piglet blowed them up

Being in the navy and inspecting vehicles as military police roll..I seen tons of these enterprise rentals from box trucks to hot shot trucks...bunch of these guys delivering frieght for different companies..I would ask why they had rental vehicles and they said their company has a busy peak season and don't have enough trucks for all the drivers they hired so they rent a lot. I've seen Amazon using enterprise too..so yea there has to be a bunch just in California..a quick search they are some in Fresno California as well..

As an owner operator of 20 years, never rent. Take care of that used truck, and it will treat you great. New trucks break down too.

I have a class a. The only difference between a class c, and a class b license is class b means you are endorsed for air brakes. With class b you still must remain under 26,000 lbs.

I got fed up with Faye @ Enterprise Everytime i called she would tell me that her waiting list is full and that she is not adding anymore names then after a couple months of calling back and checking on the list she raised the number of people on her list but of course it was full and she still wasn't taking anymore names @that time and the down payment kept going up higher and higher
I called a few days ago.. I was told the same thing about the wait time... Youd think if they were so in demand.. being the ONLY place that rents these trucks to this type of Transporting.. they would get more people on board to get these trucks out to existing and potential new people, wanting to start transporting.. Down payment went up to $4k... $1500 for Damage Deposit, $1500 towards first months rent, $1000 for account/setup fee... So i wanted to get into this within the next 2 weeks to a month.. but now i cant.. I have to Wait... for who knows how long. I plan is to rent a truck first.. get my finances in order..and then purchase that same truck from enterprise... Im not sure if i want the 5.9 cummins or the 6.7 Dually
@@BSchorr I think the problem is getting the trucks from the manufacturer which of course was shut down or at least slowed down due to the pandemic, plus they have to get the guys, and gals, out of the trucks that have hit the mileage limit first

When your lease I'd up and they offer you to buy the truck with a 10% discount how much is that? Do you have an example of a truck you was using that and how much you paid on the lease and how much was the offer to buy with the 10% off?

My ram 5500 diesel cost me $55,555 new with a 5 year warranty, way cheaper than a lease so far... Even with class A expens.... Still cheaper than the lease....
At what mileage does the warranty expire? At the most probably 100k which you'll eat up the first year.

The bump to bump warranty is going to expire at 140,000 and my power train will expire at 200,000 or more pending on time and mileage, leasing your paying more upfront and as you go, plus you have to change your truck every 60,000 miles, I don't have to worry about it plus I can save money since I can work on it myself with little worry...

The whole point of leasing vs buying is that you get a new truck entry 60k miles. Why would you turn around and then buy the used truck at the milage when statistically the diesel starts costing you money? That's the mileage when you start having DEF issues, DPF filters plug up, sensors go bad, injectors, head gaskets....

On the Indiana sales tax if you are a for hire carrier you are sale tax exempt. I've never paid sale tax on a new or used truck sense I've been in business. Just some thing to look into if I were you.

Renting is the only way to. go,because modern domestic diesel trucks begin to fall apart at around 100-120k miles, almost every repair $5000- $10000 ,often $15000,and down time for each can be 1-2 months. Those numbers look ridiculous, but it's true. Forget the old days, trucks build in 70 -80s could last 500000 miles without any break downs,only maintenance. Thanks for your honesty.

@@HotshotAdventures the poster is correct. Just take that 60-70k and divide it by 3-500k miles. Then add in normal maintenance and something for stuff that breaks, and you are going to see that 22 cpm from enterprise to always be in a new, reliable truck is the way to go.
These trucks running hotshot do not last at all. First 100k, great, 100-300k lots more unplanned stuff breaks, 300k+ forget it, you will be broke down on the side of the road several times a year.
My local Enterprise here in California quoted me $1700 a month plus .22 cents a mile for long term contract. Sound right?

Seems very high to me, how do you feel about it? What do you estimate to be grossing, with what type of estimation of miles it will take you to gross that amount? That rental is about 3 times the cost of the average truck payment if you were to purchase..
