To me the Forte GT looks more special, more sporty.
I think its more because for examble the forte GT is currently the top trim level were the SI can go up to the TYPE R. In a sense its kinda unfair but its the price range and power plant is why they are rivals right now.

If you look at the vents that the Forte has in the front bumper they’re actually functional, they’re not fully open, but they have openings that go to the wheel well, and that’s on both sides 😉 so technically the forte doesn’t have a single fake vent 😁
Warranty should always be an important point to decide. Honda offers 3 years while Kia gives you up to 10. Peace of mind I would say.
And alot of Kia dealers also offer lifetime warranties too.
C'mon most warranties aren't worth the thumb drive there saved to.
But see which one is in better overall shape in 10 years - and warranty only counts on the drivetrain btw.
I used to think the same thing about the warranties but I just bought a Kia and had to buy the extended warranty because they only give 3/36 on the electronics. The electronics is most of the car nowadays

Just got a 2020 grey GT with the 6 speed manual and I am so impressed. I had a 2015 Forte 5 with a 6 speed and the same 1.6T engine but they have done something and done something well here. I loved my Forte5 but this Forte GT I have now feels almost Germanic. It reminded me so much of a GTI when I first drove it and I fell in love. Especially since it was so much less than it’s competitors and I don’t feel I got the short end of the stick in the slightest. I am a huge fan of the GT. Also, I owned a Stinger and this GT is a baby version of that car so it’s even better!

It was designed by a former Audi engineer and a former m series designer that’s why Kia’s are starting to feel a lot more like Germans it’s fucking awesome

for the fuel economy even though the forte has a lower mpg, it only requires 87 octane vs the si's 91 octane requirement. This means its cheaper to fill up and drive

I bought the Kia with the GT2 package. I needed a vehicle for work after my vehicle was totaled in December. My primary vehicle is a BMW x3 M40I which screams 0-60 in 4.5 or 4.6 seconds. So with that said I have my performance vehicle. The Kia was not on my radar until the day before I bought it. I studied Web reviews and took it for a test drive. With dealer incentives I got it for a little over 22k. With all the electronics/ technology with heated and cooled seats at this price point... it’s crazy.

I have a Forte GT and mine spanked a Honda Civic, and also the my exhaust crackles when down shifting. Idk if this is because I have the dual clutch automatic transmission. I’ll take the forte GT of a civic si any day.
My gt does as well it just sounds so good, I beat my second civic the other day and was ecstatic haha hopefully we can get some proper race videos set up to prove Kia did good on this car!!

@@benestrada6329 So I have driven both now the thing with the 2 is it comes down to your preferences and I definitly recommend driving both if you can. The DCT is faster but can be really rough around town and it's hard to avoid. The manual can be more engaging and if you've driven stick for awhile it can be smoother (1st to 2nd sucks though it's hard to get down smooth) but its slower. I'd drive both and look at your driving habits and you're location to make the best decision for you! Thanks for the comment and watching the video!

The Kia Forte GT with the DCT is quicker than the Civic SI.
the kia lacks an LSD... it's hard to compare to it to the civic because even with the DCT in a corner it will fall apart before the civic.
@Rude Mood Vegan well then if a 10 year warranty is more important to you than an LSD maybe you should just be looking at the base model Forte... since to you performance takes a back seat

drove the Forte GT and just had to pick one up so I went for it a couple weeks ago. I really love Audi's and what it seriously feels like is a very affordable S3. Yah, not as fast but the feel and some characteristics. For the price, you can't beat it.
Hell yeah, I'd say a pretty proper review. I just bought a 21 forte gt a month ago. Didnt plan on it, but after waiting 3 months for a new engine in my 2016 soul, just to have it fail as soon as i started it.... yeah...... I needed some way of getting back home to Pennsylvania from Florida, where my engine blew lol..
But honestly, i like the forte more everyday. Overall the ride is silky smooth, takes turns like butter, suspension makes up for the shit roads in PA, the shifts are so satisfying, and the features are efficient and clean... Absolutely happy that this was the only stick vehicle on the dealerships lot haha. Looking forward to my warranty being up so i can do some work to it. (And for people who say, "yeah... But its still a kia.") Don't hate until you drive one, you might be suprised.. Kia is on the way to the top of the food chain for consumer grade vehicles, just you watch.
I actually just got a 21 Forte GT manual last week. It just spoke to me when I saw it and drove it. Every day I drive this car, I’m glad I didn’t get something else.
I wish I had the money to buy a Forte GT. I love my 2010 Forte but having all of the new stuff and that godly exhaust note would be cool.
I think the forte gt in a few years will be that budget entry level fun car that with some miles on it will be an affordable, reliable used car that can probally be picked up for as low as 13k with only 35-45 thousand miles on it. May not have it now but if its a car you want the price will only get better with time! Thanks for watching!

I have a ‘21 Forte GT 2 and love everything about it. I have the dual clutch 7 speed automatic and it is great. I like you looked at several others including the Civic and settled on the Forte GT2. Best Buy for the money. Keep up the great reviews.

I miss the high revving NA civic si. Not to mention it's just too large now. Built on the same platform as the accord IIRC. I like what kia has been doing the past few years. The gt almost looks German

Just got the Kia Forte gt today and I absolutely love it
I don’t know how to drive manual which means I couldn’t drive the civic off the car lot. The DCT of the Forte, I could drive home and to work the next day.
It sounds like the best case would be to get the DCT then. It's never a good idea to get a new car as your first stick car I learned that the hard way acouple years ago haha
Man I can't even imagine buying a car like this and choosing the automatic. I'm sure the DCT is faster at shifting and therefore would be a smidge quicker in a straight line, but this ain't no drag strip mobile... In fact, if straight up speed is important, I wouldn't consider anything like these two. Which gets back to the point... It doesn't matter if you don't know how to drive a stick man, buy it a take ten minutes and learn. You will be doing yourself a great disservice if you have the opportunity to get a manual and you choose the automatic. Having the ability to totally control your car and getting all four limbs involved is the difference that takes it to a totally different level. Just my two cents worth.
@@nurzrachit7133 I agree 100% and though I technically had behind the wheel experience driving manual. I truly didn't learn until driving the FRS off the lot when it first came out and I had a tremendously great time with it and wish I still had either that or my Evo X I traded it for. Now just to get another manual I am considering the Forte GT but even 21k I see it going for is a little too steep for my poor pockets but as they said, used by the end of this year or next year I could get a steal of a deal

I waited 4.5 months for a Civic Si only to have it finally arrive but with a bait and switch price, 16% more than when I ordered it after they brought it down some. I ended up in a Forte GT and find it better in most areas. It is a fun care to drive, great Harmon Kardon system, mine is orange (favorite color), better exhaust sound, and cheaper. And compared to Honda, Kia gave me a better deal and had the car ready the next day. You can choose between auto and manual transmissions, and while I prefer the manual, their automatic is pretty smooth. If you're debating, I seriously recommend you at least drive the Forte GT.

Kia Forte GT is the best value in the Sedan market... If the Hyundau Veloster R Spec wasn't such a sick deal then I would have definitely got the Forte GT. Honda has work to do.

@@HonestlyBad Got a gravity grey 2021. Love it! Thought it felt a bit soft at first but once I threw it into sport mode it kicks. Manual was a requirement. Feel a little remorse not looking more into the the Veloster Turbo cause I didn’t realize it has the same engine, and I love hatches, but the only velosters I see available are the ultimate edition, which is automatic only 🤮 I don’t regret it, phenomenal car.

@@extremeencounter7458 honestly I would go Veloster if the rear visibility wasn't so bad. I drove an earlier one as a rental car and sat in the N at a car show and I can barely see anything behind me.

Just got a 2022 Forte GT the interior is immaculate and the car sounds and drives incredible. Civic SI interior looks super cheap in my opinion.

From what I hear the elantra gt n line feels alittle sluggish but thats only from what I hear.

Honda should bring back the K series engine in their Si’s. Not really a fan of the new civic body styles. I have a 2012 Civic Si with 201 hp and i love it! Im getting impressed with this Forte GT though. Seems like they’ve really improved. but im wondering how reliable they are compared to Hondas
I still think Kia is hit or miss on the reliability part. The good thing is Kia is backing their product with the 10 year 100k mile power train and 60k mile 5 year bumper to bumper. I never had a problem with my 2015 forte that had about 70k miles when I gave it to my sister when I bought this one, and so far at 7k miles I still havent had a single problem
They have an almost doubled powertrain warranty, to me that means they trust the car not to have issues bar unusual manufacturing mistakes.
@BMO I'm about to hit 11,000 miles. I'm thinking of making a 10k mile review on the car and how it's been living with it
Does the Forte GT have a spare tire? As much as I liked driving the Civic SI, I don't know if I want to buy it partly because it does not have a spare tire, and because I dislike all the fake vents and that dumb looking hdmi exhaust tip.

Shawn... I've owned both Honda products and Kia products.... I also have extensive automotive knowledge and know many many ppl who own both brands.
Perfection doesn't exist... I can only speak from my knowledge.. My comparisons are only based on personal experience.
I honestly hope that their cars and trucks get better.
Hyundai and Kia both admit that their warranties are to give ppl peace of mind, which is a huge plus for a brand that is trying to get market shares.
Tell my neighbor with a 2019 tuscon about how great her truck is when she is pulling out of her driveway with blue smoke and engine knocking...

Do you run regular grade gas or premium?
What kind of mpg are you averaging?
So I personally run premium but kia says you can run regular. When I actually try I can get 30-32. I know some people in the auto can get 35-40
@BMO so the reason people run premium and kinda my reason too is with turbo cars they have a higher chance of detonation in the cylinder. Our cars are tuned for regular yeah bit putting premium in any turbo car helps it burn easier to prevent detonation. There's alot of good videos explaining what it is and why you should generally use a better quality fuel but thats the 101 of it from me haha
Hey did you know the plastic on the door panels are lights and the gt emblem on the passenger dash glows at night you can change the color
Yes if you have the DCT you get this, sadly the manual option removed this for some reason

I bought the manual because I was still able to get my sun roof, harmen, and wireless charging plus I enjoy stick more haha but the options available in the auto should be on the stick

I just bought the 2021 Kia Forte GT with the GT2 package. It is a fantastic car for the price. Is it perfect... no. But for the price point, the Kia is just an amazing car. It’s got passing power, comfort and looks far better in person than the Civic. I don’t care for the looks of a civic.

Great review.... it is truly hard to beat a Honda for value, but the Forte GT certainly seems to be the better value, not even taking into consideration the additional safety features... oh, and it looks SO much better. That counts as well.

What's the difference between the Kia Forte GT and GT line?
GT line is just an appearance package where the GT is the different engine, different transmission options and sports exhaust. Also the GT has different wheels as well
The very obvious fake vents on the front and back of the Civic are hideous, in my opinion it’s a big turn off for me. I believe the Forte is overall a better car!
the 2012 si na screamer k24 + ktuner + weight reduction + nos is beating these two by 30 car lengths

The curb weight of the Forte GT is 3000lbs. Not sure where he got 3500lbs. GROSS weight is 3880lbs.
It's always best to of owned or drove a car for some time before lending a reliability comment about it like It's gospel...a lot of fan boys sound like girls arguing about nothing 😒.

If the Forte had a limited slip differential there would be no question about which car had the most performance capability in stock format. Even without the LSD I prefer the Forte.

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback! Theres a company that makes an LSD for the forte GT. I plan on modding my car for content haha and in plan on getting the lsd the same time I do the twin disc clutch, because I'll already have the trans out for it.

Bmo... I have a 2020 Si and I love the damn thing.... It is incredible... Yes the Forte gt with the dct will be faster off the line, but manual to manual there is no contest..
The Si has 2 set dampers and trust me with the Lsd this thing handles like you can't imagine... The Forte can't keep up..
If you are buying the car then I wouldn't trust Kia for longterm ownership bit if you are leasing the it's up to you.
For me Si 100%... Oh.. The shifter is amazing in the Si as well!
In Canada we also get heated rear seats wireless charge and a spare tire.. The US doesn't get those options

The forte is not even the top trim. The gt limited has all leather seats, lane keep assist, heated and cooled seats and mich more. I own a 2020 forte d gt limited.

Do your research.... The Forte gt isn't that cheap however the moment you drive off the lot you lose big $$$ in three years the car will be worth less than 10 000$ that's 10 grand a year of depreciation... This goes for all the Koreen brands even Genesis
