Your footage looks very choppy because you converted the Handycam's 60 interlaced field per second (59.94 to be exact) video to 24 fps. With the right de-interlacing method, you can convert it to super-smooth 60 fps video. Watch the video "how to convert interlaced video to 60fps" for a simple way to do it using Handbrake.

hey i have my camera on it’s dock however it’s been saying “connecting” with no progress for a long time, how long did it take for your camera to connect to your computer?
It should be pretty instant, but is it showing up on your computer? it might be a bug but you can still transfer files?
Do you know if it’s possible to transfer the footage without the docking station?
It is not possible to my knowledge unfortunately
for anyone who doesn't have the dock like me, how did yall transfer the footage to your computers?

Hi, I found this camera for sale but it comes on it's own. What necessary bits of equipment do I need to get it to work, do I need a plug in charger, or one where I take the battery out? And what's this dock called? etc.. Thanks
you are going to need the dock to charge and to transfer files. I also would check to see if it comes with the cable that runs from the dock to your computer. I am not sure what the dock would be called other than "dcr sr40 dock"

Yes the docking station is also used for the charging. The dock has written on it "handycam station" and the sony logo. It should also be in the video. @@seascs
@@BenMatti As I said, I have the docking station but NO LEADS to charge. Can you let me know what the LEAD (or adapter) says on it?
does anyone know if you can put videos back onto the camera? i have tried copying the videos i took on it back into the folder but i can't see them on the camera
possibly check to see if the file type is the same as the camera produces. I don't think it can play back mp4 files
