He means there’s a difference between covering a song spot on and covering a song in a way that may not be exact, but your energy actually enhances what you’re doing. Think Hendrix with Sunshine of Your Love. Possibly sloppy, definitely not spot on, still arguably one of the best renditions of that tune ever.
@@williamsimmons5931, agreed. I play in an original band that does maybe 15/20% covers on any given night. The way we approach them is always, learn the tune the way it goes, but then make it “ours”. In other words make it sound like one of our songs, not liken we’re doing someone else’s tune. BUT…it has to enhance the song. If nit, we have no business covering it. That’s my philosophy on it anyway.
Where the hell is the B3 Organ dude? I play keys and it never ceases to tick me off the that the keyboardist (who supports most of the song) is not even shown in the performance. Typical guitarist "I am Larger Than Life Itself" crap. Good performance, though.
If the keyboardist/organist is soloing, I focus on him. If the guitarist is playing/singing/soloing I focus on the guitarist. I'm not going to focus on a keyboardist if the guitarist is playing a solo.
Great guitar work, great vocals, great showmanship! Impressive.
Absolutely a kickass cover

Covers are Covers... This one is done with raw energy.. ✊🏼
What does that mean... covers are covers?
