Story is that his local pub had a fund raiser for a sick child and he said he would do a gig with all money going to the child plus he donated a large sum of money. God rest your soul Gary
I don't care what you think, Gary Moore was by far, the most talented blues player of my era. Yeah SRV blah blah but that's the early 90's. We're so lucky to have a chance to hear or see this talent in a long difficult time.
The first Stevie Ray album came out in early 80's {1982?}, SRV was really the only guy at that time truly successful doing straight up blues in the era of Eddie Van Halen clones. Gotta love SRV, he was true greatness. At that time Gary was doing hard rock/ metal solo records that were awesome! Gary started doing blues albums in 1990 etc. Gary however will always be my favorite though...it's amazing how much music is on the internet these days {it's flooded!} yet I still resort to Gary's music!!
agree ,eric clapton nothing near good as gary but he got more famour and richer then him , gary never been treated well with his music . rip legend , im going to visit his grave this year at st margaret's church in brighton .
This is *real* pub playing. Gary was a most underrated blues player singer and writer... Makes me want to get out there and do it. Shame so few decent pubs doing live blues around here these days. In fact, none that I can think of...
@@thelolguy007 I'd say that he's very highly rated by most guitarists, but I think a lot of people still haven't heard of him, whereas they all know the names of Eric Clapton or Jimi Hendrix. Not saying they're any better or worse, just that our Mr Moore doesn't seem to have his name in the public consciousness in the same way for whatever reason. He was an exceptional musician.
It is amazing how he gets the same tone as if he was playing a large stadium. You would be walking past that pub and hear this and think to yourself 'that guy is good. He sounds just like Gary Moore'.
I’ve watched this gig now for the last 12 years and in 2022 it still blows me away how awesome Gary Moore is, he still inspires to me to pick up my Les Paul and play the Blues…..
Hey guys, lets show some respect for one of the greatest guitarist of our time,if not thee greatest, enjoy his legacy, all the hours and hours of hard graft he done for us to enjoy,a great man,who worked really hard to get to his level, Amen
Gary Moore. Spitting licks like a fire breather. Natural power and passion, tone, timing, and yes...danger. That's sexy. Not one player like him out there today
It's so good when top notch musicians still play the 'ordinary' venues i.e. 'pubs', where 'ordinary' folks can see and hear these guys up close and personal. Imagine being there and at some point going to the men's room and having a pee standing next to Gary effing Moore..! lol...rip Gary...a sadly missed talent...xx
Wow,gary had that pub on fire with that phenomenal playing, how wish i was there to indulge in some cold pints and listen to my favorite player of all time.....Cheers buddy.....🎸❤️🍻
Had the pleasure of seeing Gary twice in Glasgow always loved his great melodic solos a great loss to Music, in general, he always played as if his fingers were on fire and could easily go through a clean towel every song to wipe the sweat from his face. An outstanding man and his Music. RIP Gary Moore.
Gary Moore was THE best guitarplayer, no doubt about it. People doesnt realize the feeling the drive the skill Gary had, tremendeous! Gary could outplay any guitarist on the planet, Van Halen, John Sykes, Frank Marino, Santana, Clapton SRV and all the other thousands of guitarists, known or unknown, they dont even come close! Why dont they raise a statue over Gary in Belfast, for example?
+LOGAN PARKER for sure, just that Gary had an extra twentyfive years to get just a little bit better than SRV and I Love me some Stevie fosho. Actually got to see SRV 3X!!! Had Stevie lived a few more years...his Legacy would be even more intense...
I also think it is very sad and upsetting that all of the high-profile guitar players you listed have also gather Gary Moore - who was a different musician than any of them! Only BB King was the excellence who appreciated GaRy Moore's incredible musical knowledge ... Of course SRV is my favorite also - it's a pity he's gone so early... He was a similar excellence as Gary - but Moore got success only in the United Kingdom... I love Clapton - but I'm very "angry" about why he NEVER played together with Gary Moore... Maybe because he came from a poor Irish family? My own opinion is: that not even after years of Gary's death, there is no "rehabilitation" about Gary's musical talent and excellent gitar player know...
WOW !! Gary is one of my ALL time favourite players and I have seen him live on many occasions. I was born and raised in Brighton and the prospect of going into a local for a pint and having the incredible experience of seeing and getting to meet Gary in such an intimate environment would be the experience of a lifetime !! Kudos to you Gary-- if you ever play in Houston my door is always open !!
You had Gary....then everyone who wanted to be able to play like Gary....by far and away the greatest blues rock guitar player to ever strap on the instrument...we all sure miss your genius Gary.....😏😏
Its going on 2 weeks later and I still cant believe it. RIP Gary, youre one of the main reasons I picked up the guitar back in 1982. Thanks for posting mate.
I wish had could seen him in a little venue like this. This video is an example of tone and feeling, it is not impossible to top it. RIP Gary we miss you!
I’ve never seen him live. :-( Luckely ‘Still Got The Blues’ came in the charts back then here in Belgium. The Blues Alive CD came up, VHS video... if you watched it, you’re hooked. The last few weeks he’s music companies me constantly. He’s one of the few who makes you listen in a one way conversation, for minutes long through his guitar. He just keeps going. If you would try to speak, he’s already new instrumental for almost ten minutes long, without stopping, telling different stories. He makes you listen and you don’t think about speaking.... you just listen to what comes out of his guitars. It is not many guitarists given to play instrumentals keeping you concentrated to what they have to say. Gary will play you another. And another. It seems he has a lot more to say than he had the time. I miss him so much.... and I’ve never seen him.... that’s a big regret. I wish he’d never stopped talking 😢
Wow probably one of the best players ever ........mind you saw Tommy Emmanuel once ..he is "amazing he can play anything ....any song check him out ..see what you think
Gary Moore "Guitar Virtuoso" AWESOME musician in ALL genre's.... yorkshiretractors parents were more than likely brother and sister, so can't help being musically incompetant and a complete KNOB =) R.I.P Gary... Legend !
dear hare...i agree to your every word.......just listened to van halen for the first and the last time.......as i commented...vans laughing all the way to the bank.....
Pity though the recording stopped abruptly right after ca 7 minutes..! Just as he started playing those clean notes (that I like very much) without any distortion..!
The Ranelagh is local to me, sad to say, I never saw Gary live at all, but they've had some real treats playing there, Barry the owner is a sound as they come and so is his wife, and the bar staff are great!
top place mate, totally unexpected for that part of brighton but what a great boozer. fell in there in about 1992 while i lived in brighton, and couldn't believe all the records on the wall. always dropped in there every now and then on the way to the beach, cutting through from tarnerland where i lived.

You are right - but I love SRV-t also because he was similar in his music play as Gary Moore = a TALENT...
I just don't think Stevie could express the guitar like this guy

Paul Shields said but true. Most people would prefer to get shitfaced at karaoke night pretending they can sing instead of supporting local live acts
Underrated? Never heard that before tbh.
Also he visits guitarist-singer and most underrated shred-guitarist

From a little kid way before battery tuners and TH-cam and never took guitar lessons. Neither did I or lots of guys were self taught 🌹
It was an amazing night! Gary Moore The Maestro. Very sadly missed 😥
I played for thirty years and never got within a country mile of him. What a phenomenal talent, what an incredible level of skill!
RIP, GARY!
Ive been playing 46 years and I am a decent guitarist but I don't feel fit to lace his boots awesome player RIP Mr Gary Moore a true legend !

How lucky were the drinkers in that pub that night going in for a pint and wow GARY MOORE Playing wish i had been there RIP GARY
Always loved Gary, many times he's saved my bacon.
Wow, imagine wandering into the corner bar and there's Gary Moore playing! Thanks for posting this!

We all have Garry Moore in our playing. He was a Wonderful Guitarist. 👏👏👏.
Amazing! One of the greatest of all time.

Katalin: Eric Clapton did play a tribute to Gary, a version of Still Got the Blues. Am sure he admired him a lot.
It doesn't get much better than that. RIP to the GOAT.

LEGEND !!! RESPECT !!!
I was at this and a few other gigs he played there.
Some people should live forever, like Gary Moore.
It's incredible what this guy did with a simple pentatonic.
The one and only
The real king of the blues!
Sublime player!, he always applied taste/touch/tone and feel to whatever style of music he was playing at the time, sadly missed.
OMG I love this man, RIP my love
Gary wasn't built for comfort he was built for speed.
Am still in love with the blues.

Thanx! Superb!!!
Drummer having to keep up with the genius guitar player's plectrum /string rythm patterns here. Unheard of. Genius Moore.

WOW he is one of the greats!!! Great sounding guitar also.
He gets every ounce of feeling out of his Les Paul-brilliant
in a small club, without a keyboard player COOOOOOOOOL!

I didn't realise how much weight Gary had put on. I spoke with someone who was on one of Gary's last tours and he said that his guitar case was full of Mars and Toffee Crisp bars.
I love toffee crisps ♥️👍😁
Cool
Thats my guitar.
Its actually in the case right next to me
so cool!
😍🎸🎸
I think Gary used to play in a little club in Belfast called The Pound Club back in the early 70's.
Is that where he would pound a few...and put on a few pounds?
Yeah, he's gettin on abit now! He'll be giving BB King a run for his money soon! Maybe playin some old school rock might get him running round the stage some more!
Can't deny he's still my favourite guitar player...All Class!
The drummer is havin the night of his life, the bassist is shitting bricks, so would I.
The basser is (was) Gary's usual touring bass player Pete Rees...........
awesome !!!! any idea what his amp is ?
Sounds like a jtm45
Wonderful
Gary has just recorded a new single with a Brighton based group called Gypsy and the Wolf. Check them out on myspace.
Such a all venue, But, great sound and control..
It's supposed to be small venue...
Great Vid....thanks. What was his set up ? Sounds great!!! I can see a marshall back there?
Love it!!! so raw yet beauty ful....ha
R.I.P! Gary!
Fantstic pure tone...
Christ ive been pissed in this pub in brighton a few times...
@tranztek thank u!

it's way too bright, really uncomfortable
where and when was this [ please ] I seen Gary a few times in Liverpool just out of this world playing [ what a sad loss of a great player]
Jump Forty Four it's a tiny little pub called The Ranelagh just off St James Street here in Brighton.
Thank you for that Pete kind regards jump44
Anyone know who the guys are playing with Gary? Just curious, as it seemed he played with different players in settings like this. RIP Gazza 🙏
What song is this?
The playing by Gary is as brutal as ever. Such a loss of amazing talent
Have You Heard from the beano album.
Supreme!
i can't imagine , i can't..........
