Finally, I love this golden era in Spanish football. I’m an Australian and for me the simplicity of those beautiful through balls with cool clinical finesse finishing and cheeky chips on the keeper is just amazing.

To be fair one of the best goal videos I’ve seen, underrated overwhelmingly , he scores free kicks like Juninho, 3 goals from the halfway line , sublime headers, beating players like know one’s business, curlers from outside the box, deft chips, the absolute package what a player Villa was , him alongside a peak Torres frightening!!!!

Incredible payer.He was the main reason for Spains success during that time as without his finishing they'd have won nothing.They passed teams off the park in the 2010 world cup but outside of Villa had very little cutting edge, he was the real difference maker as Xavi , Iniesta etc set it up for Spain to win , he made sure they did win.
I always thought he was slightly underappreciated in the wider footballing world.
I love guaje Villa as much as his family loves him. The joy of his football was a luxury for my eyes. But to be fair, Spain won Euro 2012 without Villa, in fact playing without striker most of the games. Cesc Fabregas played as a "false" 9, doing the job of a fifth midfielder. Spain scored 12 goals in that tournament and received just one goal, in the first match against Italy. Then, they crushed Italy 4-0 in the final. Fernando Torres was the golden boot in that Euro, coming from the bench almost every game. That team, that Spanish players 2008-2012 were too good. They would've won without Villa, in fact they did. In 2008 or 2010 David didn't score in semifinal or final. He was pivotal in both championships, off course. But, those guys were too much talented and determined.
Lol under appreciated? What rock were you living under? He was one of the top strikers back in his playing days. Only a complete ignoramus or casual "fan" would call him underappreciated.

Always thought he would do wonder's at real madrid but it never happened, for me though david villa is up there with the likes of Suarez, Lewandowski, was also the better striker between him and Torres, if he played in his prime now he would be hands down the best attacker
They wouldn't have believed in him at Real Madrid. By that time the spanish national team wasn't winning trophies and it was very difficult for spanish players to be on the starting lineup. Spanish players didn't have the star power to be trusted by default. They got rid of Morientes really fast even when he always performed great in Real Madrid, for example.
