    Removing that baffle from the muffler really makes a difference, did the same on my 038 mag.

    Good advice to use 2/stroke oil and to keep parts and the work area clean during assembly.

    I didn't pay attention on my NS872 with stock handle if there was room to get that screw out, but there is room with the Farmertec 044 wraparound handle, also more room for hand between handle and chain brake lever with the 044 handle

    • @IndianaDoug
      @IndianaDoug  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes the 892 doesn’t seem to have this issue I agree. It’s just these 380 clones.

      @@IndianaDoug I typed wrong saw been corrected. LOL I don't even have an 892

      @@IndianaDoug I sort of did the same thing to the cylinder on my NS872, except I used a cylinder gasket, I didn't remove the baffle in muffler, I drilled holes in the end and made a couple near the end bigger. I also advance flywheel timing a little.

    • @IndianaDoug
      @IndianaDoug  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      How did the timing advance go? I was going to see how much it improved with this mild port work and gasket delete first before I try it.

      @@IndianaDoug seemed good to me. If you look at the first videos I posted of it vs last videos, you can see difference, but in first video it was totally stock

    The oem 038 didn't need the handle bolts removed to get the top cover bolt on or off ..also it's a different style of bolt that could be removed with either a flat head or spanner .

    • @IndianaDoug
      @IndianaDoug  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I always wanted the OEM magII 72cc model. One of the only 0 series saws I don’t have. Well that and the 088🤷🏻‍♂️

      @@IndianaDoug I had an 038 super which was the 67cc and it was made in 1985 . Not the fastest cutting but the torque on it was amazing. Very similar to the echo 620 but a lot heavier ..honestly 38 years old original cylinder and piston. Started well popped nearly always 1st pull . Great reliable and very tough saw ..go as far as say one off if not the best stihl ever made .. that's what people don't realise about husqvarna and stihl it's not there current saws that got them there reputations it's the saws like that ..2 saws i have had that a regret selling was my 038 and my 357xp both were excellent condition and performance

    Hi there Indiana, what would you say would be the best max revs for the F380.
    Thanks in advance.

    • @IndianaDoug
      @IndianaDoug  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      These saws use more mid range torque side power in my opinion. You can get them to rev high but it’s for nothing. I’d keep it under 12K rpm out of the cut. Again, just my opinion.

    You legitimately make tearing these down looks so simple.
    For real though, is it actually that simple?

    • @IndianaDoug
      @IndianaDoug  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It really is simple. Pics or video help during teardown if you’re a beginner. After awhile it just kinda clicks.

    Lol…oh good I got rev on the boot too!
    Make yourself a split mandrel for the exhaust. Paper first then some scotch brite- only takes about a minute and the exhaust will shine right up. Yours looks real good anyway….perhaps I need it more than you!

      Steel Wool WITH WD-40 make for EXTREMELY good polishing for an exhaust port. Just something that I picked up from Johns Custom Saws. He’s very, um, liberal with his mouth.
