👋 Nothing too too bad everything fits well but some of the sprue gates are a head scratcher, also the two piece aim120 aren't that great but other than that just the lil pin marks on the top fuselage it's all good. Happy scaling 👋
Awesome, full video build series on my Patreon for that kit. Getting fuselage together was a bit of a handful but with some basic modeling skills (filling and sanding) looks great when finished. Richie
Nice review Ritchie. The refuelling pod provided is the D-704 which is not used by Super Hornets. I believe it was used by Intruders and Vikings. Wolfpack Design make the A/A42R-1 pod which is the one you need (48132). You could though sand the bumps off the HB pod and most people wouldn’t know the difference. Wolfpack also make the inflight refuelling probe for Hasagawa super hornets. You might be able to use this for the HB kit. Pity they didn’t include it as it is in the 1/32 scale Super Hornet kit. Cheers.
@@RWHobbies I don’t usually put pilots in my models but Aerobonus has a pilot for F/A-18E/F. It is for the Hasagawa kit and comes with the ejection seat. I am sure it could be made to fit though. The Meng E kit comes with two pilots and optional helmets. If you have these left over from your E build I would use them. Ps - I have been told that only the front seat pilot uses the JHCS helmet and the guy in the rear has the older style of helmet. I guess the front seat pilot is the one pulling the trigger. Not sure if this is always accurate though.
I almost bought this kit, but I bought the Meng F-18 f version after watching your review and build of the E version. I'm enjoying the build so far, goes together nicely.

It does look very nice, but the price is high like everything else in the world. The legacy Hornet was like $40 a few years back. Now the newer Super Hornet is double that price.
Hi Richie, I can not wait to hear your opinion after building this kit. I have tried hobby boss with F-111, A7-D, and A7-G. They had all serious flaws, so I sold any other hobby boss kit I had. I'm afraid they continue the legacy of dodgy kits with this one too!
Looks good to me. Although not built it. Looks more refined panel lines than the Meng. Any HobbyBoss or Trumpeter get on AliExpress or eBay direct from China. Much cheaper than buying locally.
I've always steered clear of HobbyBoss because I am unfamiliar with the brand. After seeing this review I may have to give them a go. Thanks for another excellent video Richie.
Trumpeter and HobbyBoss are the same company and same product. I have built a bunch of them and all my recent and upcoming stuff ironically seems to be those brands. Good kits, wouldn't have any hesitation with building them. Only thing to watch out for is that some of their color call outs can be a bit iffy.

Have you built this kit? I wanted to ask if it needs any weights in the nose. There's no mention in the instructions to put weights in. I have ordered this kit. I am in UK and got it for a decent price of £48, which equates to about $63.
Not sure how this builds. If it goes together well HobbyBoss has the far superior surface detail. Meng is a little Airfix like with the panel lines. But you get pilot figures and canopy mask with Meng. 🤷
Meng went together great. Not built this. Plastic wise the HobbyBoss is way better detail and more refined than the Meng. Meng you get pilot figures and canopy mask included.
In My opinion, Hobbyboss kits are the best kits out there. The engineering is on point and they are a joy to build.
Agree. 5 of my last 6 builds on channel were Trumpy or HB. Not over fancy.

Great review. I may have to get this one. That vinyl tubing. You could run some stiff wire down the middle of that tube to stiffen it.

Meng is a great build. Only thing is the panel lines are much more refined on the HobbyBoss. But no idea yet how that builds up and if any issues.

Not yet, but always put weight in nose. HobbyBoss never mention it. My A-10 needs 40g, zero mention
