Cool! I think this is the most transparant video everrr about living abroad. Been questioning this about a lot of countries. Thanks to you Bulgaria is cristal clear! THANKS
Your very welcome, I was going for a different way of doing this kind of video other than what I’d also seen on TH-cam for other creators
@@ATasteofBulgaria well you nailed it 🙌
You feel so genuine and like a friend who’ll help overseas 😇😇
Thank you your kind words
Thank you for respecting bulgarian producers.
You are very welcome, it is totally my pleasure
Love Bulgaria! Spent a month there in 2010. Sophia was great a but varna was a highlight of the trip. These are some great tips. Its always nice to get inside information from a local. Thank you! Now subscriber here!
Super, Its great when you spend a month+ somewhere rather than the usual 2 weeks. In a month you get a better idea of a country. Happy I was able to give an insight to the things 10 years later
The real name is Sofia, not Sophia and the emphasis is on the letter O. 🙂
Love these videos. I will travel to Varna om March 3rd. It will be the first episode of my travelling series 2023.
Glad you enjoyed it…and good luck
Really nice video,Gareth.A lot of usefull tips. Thanks
Thanks, and we are great full that it can help you to make informed decisions, 👍😉
This was super cool, and your down to earth attitude is refreshing on TH-cam.
thats for taking the time to comment its very much appreciated ....sorry for my long awaited reply
A lot of information, great job! I have never been in Bulagaria, but I want to go there.
Fantastic, if this is the effect of my videos then I’m very happy. As this is what I’d planned to achieve
wow love how affordable everything is. thank you for sharing your experience and information!
You are welcome, it’s definitely affordable if you have a European salary, if you take the minimum wage here it can be quite difficult
Thank you for this. Very much appreciated.
You are very welcome, I will have a new addition to this, based in Burgas coming in the next weeks
This is packed with helpful infos that can help a lot in budgeting the cost of living there . I like it that you don't just sit down at home and talk about the prices but even going out for us to get a feel of how it is there like in shopping, going to the phone company, etc. Thanks.
A great job, mate... keep it up...
Very detailed. Well done! Thank you x
Thank you, I feel that there could of been a little more in terms of showing you in Restaurants or coffee bars, but they where closed
@@ATasteofBulgaria Nevermind, you did a great job. :-)
I appreciate the support
I am living in Australia right now, but can't wait to visit Bulgaria and maybe move there. Hopefully, I will be able to transfer my ecommerce business there as well. After expensive Australia, Bulgaria will be extremely affordable.
Yes comparing to Australia, Bulgaria is super cheap....especially if you come with an international business that can produce a salary like Western Europe
Great video of Varna and very informative 🙂
Glad you liked it, was a pleasure to help
really helpful to start the video off with the conversion technique! This was so interesting to see! In Switzerland, the cost of a cup of coffee would be 6-7 Francs (5+ Euro at least)! I miss having a nice affordable cup of coffee!
It’s also very important that the coffee taste good also, here can be a little bit or miss sometimes but when you find your coffee shop you just stick to it
This video is a great source of detailed information for pricing on everything from grocery items to services. I wish there was a break down for the American dollar as well. We don't actually have open markets like this where I live.
These are really good suggestions! and it such an important time to be discussing this, I really enjoyed the video!
Thanks for you kind words, and I totally agree this is the time to save. I happy you enjoyed the video😃
great video, I'm hoping to move there in 2022.visited Sofia in 2018 can't wait to move. I took train from Istanbul to Sofia. I can't wait to see Varna. Great video
There are many great resorts and cities on the coast but Varna is definitely my favourite
Very interesting video! Thank you very much for that!
I very happy that you enjoyed and hope you will enjoy other of my videos
Quite a relaxing video with good info. Great job!
I’m happy that the information is useful and interesting, thanks very much for the kind words
Thank you for the wonderful information Gareth. You really do give so much insight as to daily life and living costs for people who might be thinking to re locate. Very helpful so I'm giving a thumbs up! Dee Hanbury
Thank you Dee, it’s nice to to be able help and show people about Bulgaria 🇧🇬 and that people enjoy and find my videos useful
Really good practical information. Thanks for sharing. It is good to see how it compares to where we live. 🙏👍🌈
It was my pleasure, I tried as best as possible to give the real insight to the life in Bulgaria
This video is really informative. The living cost there is much higher than living in our country Vietnam.
Yes I remember my time in Vietnam and was super cheap, and was a great experience
1901ET The atmosphere of a market is a great place for a tourist to explore a new city. There, life flows normally and naturally!
This is an excellent point you make, not only are you getting the local produce from the market you also get a feel for the cult
my biggest dream is to move over to varna and start over again over there or buy a vacantion house in varna , its the most amazing place to live or have a nice time out for relaxing
This is definitely a great plan….I guess I’m lucky enough to be living the dream 😉
I'm from Bulgaria and I just want to say that it's much more beautiful than Germany, France, Spain, etc. We have the most beautiful nature and we have interesting culture, history and tradition. Do u know that Bulgaria is created in 7th century?!! It's a great place to leave! Not as rich as America, but still good❤️ Love your videos! You have good bulgarian!
It really is a super beautiful country, Definitely more than any other country I have been to. I agree it really is a great place to live. The oldest country Europe. Thank you for the nice words, I hope I can reach the audience that don’t yet know the beauty of Bulgaria 🇧🇬❤️🤩
I have never been in your country, but I already love it! I am Russian-Moldovan living in Australia now. Hope to visit Varna soon.
I totally recommend it, and I’m sure you won’t regret it
Thanks ❤️
You are very welcome, hope you found it useful
Hi! First time over your channel here!
The content is very varied and complete! Congrats!
I've been to Bulgaria for the first time last month, but I only got to visit Sofia.
I'm sure I'll be back in the country to visit Varna.
Greetings from a uruguayan living in Spain.
You definitely should, and there is a lot more to see. The country has a vast history and a vibrant culture. There is a beautiful landscape with everything you would like to see and more is here. Well worth an trip 😉
The good thing about living in Bulgaria is that it is like almost every country in Europe, a lot similar things, but the standard is way cheaper and people are also kind.
They are very good points you make, though what I think is not so correct is that you must wait to get cosmetics and medicines on deal to get them for the prices in Germany. Most things are cheap if you are above average salary or taking salary from outside the country. I think the other regions average salaries need to catch up a little to that of Sofia
And the quality is lower xd
With a lot of things this is true, that is apart from the most important things in life….food products and Rakia 😉
Really great video and channel
Thanks very much, I still see Room for improvement
👍great video thanks for sharing.
It’s a pleasure
Really wonderful share! Well builded episode with so much details and infos!!
You are doing a great job here my friend ❤️😊👏
Thanks, I’m still trying to improve though. As I think there is always room for improvement, as long as people find it interesting I’m happy 😃
Mate the intro is great. What software do you use? Been getting serious intro envy lately haha.
Great vlog. I spent 2 months in Bulgaria a few years ago and loved it, what a stunning country!
Keep it up ✌🏽
Thanks for the Kind words, I use Final Cut Pro X for my editing.
It is very beautiful and I’ve only scratched the surface, I’m super excited to discover more
hey you live very close to my house. It's so irronic that i'm Living in the UK now and you live in my homeland. But I hope you like my town.
Crazy world sometimes yeah. I love Varna
Thanks for the great video! When is the second part coming? Looking forward to it :)
I’m hoping to do it soon, I’m trying to find an agency with places to show me properties for Rent/Sale
@@ATasteofBulgaria great, sounds very interesting. Good luck!
Very interesting your video. I appreciat you show a lot respect for people who work selling vegetables, fruits, fish and others produce. I´m from Cuba. Compare with my country, Bulgaria is more cheaper. I would like request you if you make a video about the schools there for children, specially International School, its cost per year. I have been thinking about going to live there with my family. bless you
Thanks for your comments. I’m actually in the middle of organising such a video. Though my new video haS a little insight to the general cost
Greeting from Thailand.
Hi there hope all is well
I like your content God bless
Thanks for the kind words and support it is very well appreciated 😉🤩👍🙏
Do you have a 1 bedroom apartment?
How much do you pay by the month ? Also that was Very informative. It seems most people who do these pricings are never as thorough as you were.
So Thank You so much for that.
No, I actually live in the apartment of my wife’s parents. The usual rent in Varna for a one bedroom is about 600-800 lv for 50m2 one bedroom apartment. There is obviously more expensive the closer to the centre and more luxury
@@ATasteofBulgaria 600 to 800 euros ?
No BGN (leva) but that’s only for the apartment bills on top
Informative and detailed video. The costs not much. Varna lovely place. How long you been living there? Nice video
Thank you very much, 2 years I’ve been here now (permanently) before that on and off for a few years.

excellent video iVarna looks like the place I want to retire to my pension would go a lot further there
Would be definitely not be a bad idea. It’s a wonderful and money from outside the country does go a long way
Best friend, I go normal in May 2023 to Varna, What day is the open market ? Thanks.
The are 3 open markets in Varna and they are open everyday from around 8am-6pm
Bulgaria is most beautiful country 💗 In the world!
Very true comment…happy that you think so
£120.00for my hair cut in UK, road tax is 3/4 time more than balgarian, food looks good and cheaper than UK.
Wow them are some crazy prices, Bulgaria it’s great for many reason and the food it’s definitely one of them
Terimakasih sebelumnya pak..sudah diterjemahkan ke bahasa Indonesia..minta bagaimana cara agar bisa kuliah di Bulgaria dan berdagang dinegara anda! 🙏
What kind of business, I’m not sure how easy it is for someone from outside of Europe to make business here
yes, i will be in Varna at the beginning of April. do you have any specific lawyer to recommend to oversee a MODEST apartment purchase in Varna Bulgaria?
I will have a look into it for you. send me an email closer to the time you are coming
atasteofbg@gmail.com
Why didn't he let you film in Kaufland? That's totally out of order. You should've gone to the Information Desk or asked to see the manager.
Actually he went to the desk and called the manager himself to ask...it was the manager who refused.
Your video is informative and good edit. I am now in Romania and plan to move down to Varna as well. I am going to rent a place for 2 months at the Golden Sand area. Perhaps we can go for a drink someday... I added you on Instagram
Good decision on moving down to Varna, if you do it in summer you’ll really enjoy it. Send us a message when you come over I see where I’m at
Bulgaria : Diesel 1.80 (LV) per liter, wich is something like 0.90 cents of the euro!! You know how much we pay in Portugal, where the minimum wage is only 150 euro more then Bulgaria? 1.90 eur per liter ! 60% are taxes. HOLY SH**!!
Portugal minimum (and 70% of the jobs) wage : 750
Bulgaria minimum wage : 600 . But those 600 are worth 1200 if we do the math right.
They know where to buy the best quality of sugar, of course in Poland!!!
Good eyes Tomasz, I didn’t even know that it was Sugar from Poland. 😃😉
Unfortunately , nothing remotely like Primark in Bulgaria. They would sell out daily if they ever came to Sofia or Varna. Also, not sure on your pricing for dinner for 2. Seems way more expensive than anything I’ve ever experienced .
This is definitely a whole in the Market, they I’m very surprised that they are not already here as they have already entered into a lot of European countries. As for the Dinner the restaurant I was talking about actually was a bit of an upscale place, and as I say in the video it was a 3 course meal for two people with drinks, and that it is also possible to find cheaper
Please make also a Video about Burgas
I will do some for sure as it close by me
@@ATasteofBulgaria Burgas is the best city in Bulgaria😁
Stand by....over the summer
Are you from Burgas?
@@ATasteofBulgaria yes,im from Burgas.
How much is Rent , or buying an app. / house ?
Stay tuned, I’m in the middle of trying to organise a video with this information, first in Varna there in other cities and towns....Stay Tuned
Any advise where to find apartment rental or rooms? I'm arriving withing the next few weeks and looking to stay a few months.
Are you looking for a place in Varna, or somewhere else?
@@ATasteofBulgaria Varna, I spoke with an agent. But also because I'm a US citizen, there's no direct flights to US and they require me to have some kind of essential travel document. So I have to work on that first. I'm coming to Varna to look at the Medical school and live for the summer by the way.
I’m sure you going to enjoy it, Varna in the Summer is amazing 🤩
Varna needs by far more investments, maybe romanians should come and put some money...
It definitely could do with a bit of investment, and bring it back to its glory days
Gosh, haven't things changed in a year?
It definitely has, even since a few months ago…as I did a similar video but in Plovdiv
It definitely has, even since at the end of last year I did a similar video but in Plovdiv and you can see the jumps from then too

@@ATasteofBulgaria hi
Hi 🙋♂️
800 to a 1000 lev salary is not bad. Is that per day?
🤣😂 yeah that kind of salary would be great in Western Europe
This just shows how incredibly expensive Varna is.
2 leva for a coffee? C'mon!
100 leva diner for two? Only in Varna then. Even in Sofia I dined in one of the more expensive restaurants with two people for only 45 leva.
And toll will cost about 100 leva for a full year, not 165.
Sorry to see that you live your life being ripped off constantly.
can hardly hear you
Petrol dirty ???
That why cars are fitted with a fuel filter lol.
Maybe
Today, $1 US = 1.65 LEV. American here who has decided to retire in Varna in June or possibly July, 2022. I'll be well-prepared! Can't wait to leave the lefty, woke, rat race which has become the USA. However, I think I'll have my son mail my favorite cosmetics and pharmaceuticals from California!
Great decision, I see your point for why you wish to move away. Bulgaria is a great choice. And everyone needs there creature comforts from back home
Mate this really isn't helpful at all unless you state the conversions into USD or Euro like all the other vloggers do in other videos.
Also your audio is ridiculously too quiet. I have youtube volume and laptop volume both at 100, and *still* had to install a volume booster plugin just to hear you! You should fix your audio next time.
I will consdired that on my future COL video for sofia coming soon...thanks for the feedback
I’m Also doing a live online premier of my new video today 16:00 Bulgarian Time (EET) that I’d like to invite you to, It’s about my First experience in Sofia and a sleeper train from Varna
