If you’ve ever experienced sexual assault and suffer from PTSD, having a scene like that sneak up on you without a content wanting is hell. I started hyperventilating and had to walk away to calm down and work through flashbacks. If a Mangaka wants to include that kind of content in their story, I don’t necessarily have a problem with it, but you have to respect the subject matter and you need to be careful about not triggering trauma for your audience. Bruh I find the comments about Robin's rape being so randomly out of character so stupid. Anime-only here, we ONLY saw him be a male role model to Haruki, NOT Kiriko. We don't know anything about their relationship except that they indeed spent more time together due to car racing since Robin was big boss man. MY theory: Robin was raping Kiriko back then too. Why? Because when Haruki gets his first memory that is really Kiriko's memory (seeing himself fast asleep while hearing Robin saying "Since Haruki's a deep sleeper..") was RIGHT AFTER 2 days of him raping him. You know what people say about trauma? The body remembers. And what else would Robin be doing with Kiriko in the sleeping quarters only because Haruki's a deep sleeper? And why else did Robin look absolutely mortified when he thought he saw Kiriko for the first time in 5 years? I think it's because the last time he raped her she beat his ass and threatened his life, orr he's scared that the 5 years got her to realize how wrong it was and made him think she'd seek revenge.
To add some more scientific insight from way back in the day. Alchemy used to be a practise to turn one kind of material into another kind of material, like lead or coal into gold, fuse 2 different types of material together or purify materials by way of heating it up and cooling down. Another thing that alchemists had as a goal was the 'prima materia', or in other words the philosophers stone. The philosophers stone would be depicted in old texts as the Rebis. The Rebis being both male and female. Two parts of a whole that came together to become the perfect material/being. It is depicted as a human body with both genders, sometimes with both a male and a female head. Seeing how the story focuses on gene splicing and creating artificial life i think the director not only wanted to used the bodies of the children as a vessel to brain transplant herself into to gain "eternal youth", which is basicaly what the prima materia was associated with (kind of), but to create the perfect being seeing how some of the children have both reproductive organs. why would that be kiruko's first period? his sister's body is 20 years old. he's been in that body for months at least. why would menstrual pains come as any kind of a surprise?
that's a pretty incredibly irregular series of non-periods that's like years without a period in the prime of his/her life. i just don't see that happening without being permanently infertile@@toobi-froot
There are several reasons why the period stuff happened or was delayed. 1) the brain injury etc trauma can stress out the body enough to not be able to menstruate. 2) they have eaten pretty regularly and she gained enough weight to menstruate. 3) she has been menstruating but this was a heavy period instead of a light period. I also think the incest theme is important - Haruki's infatuation is shown as immature and unhealthy, especially as their love goes from sister to Maru in recent chapters. What if promised never land is still part of the series? We watched as the present. What if after promised never land they lost all those demons and scientist couldn't except the danger after it so they made a similar facility mixed with those demons that were extinct blood with human genetics? Would be cool if they said that in a twist 😅
The incest trope is my only gripe with this series. Not only because it's a deeply uncomfortable trope, but I also feel like it actually detracts from what could have been an interesting psychological subplot with Haruki coming into puberty and having to grapple with s*xual feelings that he would need/need to decide to satisfy in a body that he is not comfortable doing that in.
Mina's personality is a hint thag there is more going on at the facility than what the humans control. I wish they didn't takr that subtle foreshadowing away

Tbh I just thought haruki and kiruko were just siblings because they were in the same orphanage. Not because they were related.
nah they were in different orphanages
@@minmodulation so not related?
haruki is kiruko inside of his sister body
@@Safia_bh I’m more of alluding to the incest theme with my question for context.
@@Clean_Shirt yeah they are sibling and because sister was the one who take care haruki since they were littel he develpe love and crush on her
Noice vid, but please treat Kiruko as a girl (she is indeed a girl)
Japanese love incest. Its literally in 90% of anime in some.form.
Another immature reading of a great manga.
why do you think its immature
Mina's personality is a hint thag there is more going on at the facility than what the humans control. I wish they didn't takr that subtle foreshadowing away
I think the manga did the usami scene better because it made you realize the same time as them
First 🔥
