You've heard this before, but I'd love a separate video covering all the photoshop stuff. As someone who is self-taught (badly) when it comes to photoshop I'd find that really interesting. Especially the stuff you did with the insignia. Those little tips and tricks would be great. I attend comic cons and make up photos to get printed and autographed, so any photoshop tips I can pick up would be brilliant.
I love that I found your channel a while back. I used your paper clips method for the inner crotch/thumb of the GI Joes, but for my Corps figures. Then I used superglue, and baking soda.
Had to watch this again and comment on how impressed I was with the new opening!!! The quality was amazing, I could tell you put a lot of work into it and it paid off!!!! Top notch!!!
Thanks for showing how you create your custom decals. Seeing how you placed all the decals on your sheet for less waste material inspired me to do the same. Another good toy video from one of my favorite TV shows as a kid! Can't wait to see part 2.
Incredible work as ever Dave, it never ceases to amaze me that some of these old toys was so badly made, but lovely all the same! I’d love to see you do a tutorial on Photoshop, even starting at the basics for beginners, clearly your expertise is beyond reproach and I’d love to see a series on it, just a thought! Please keep up the amazing work and I’m very much looking forward to seeing part two of this vlog.
Tim, I loved all 4 parts of this restoration/enhancement, especially your unique video intro playing off the original Buck Rogers prologue. Really nice touch. I was a big fan of the series all through the 80s, reruns included, so it was nice watching you bring that second starfighter to life with lights and new stickers. It's too bad Kenner didn't make the cockpit a little bigger so that TWIKI, at least, could ride behind Buck, like he did in the show. Thanks!
The only thing I really remember from this show was this ship and Princess Ardala with that outfit she wore. Giggity! Glad I found your channel...subbed.
Great video feller. This toy is not my era, but I did 'inherit' stuff from this period from my brother. I did have a die-cast version of this which was immense fun alongside my Eagle, in fact I just recalled that there was a solid connecting piece on the front spikes, a safety feature back then! I didn't realise it wasn't on the ships in the series! I do remember the programme with fondness since it was repeated endlessly.
Nice to see some custom work will be done as well, would be fun to see it being done on more stuff in the future. Cause are a lot of toys out there that could use a lil love that way as well
Ivory colour rattle-can I reckon, love the screen-accurate upgrades btw, that opens up a world of possibilities, more of those down the line please mate
Great video as always 👍👍 I always get a kick out of the intros lol If you're having trouble getting the original nose cones and burners on you could always try soaking them in some hot water to bring back a little bit of the elasticity to the plastic. It might let you get them on without them cracking any further.
The year is 2014...And You Tube launches the last of it's great vintage toy restroration channels...In a freak mishap,Toy Polloi is thrown out of the forums...And into a orbit which freezes his internet access...Returning Toy Polloi to our screens 500 Years later...Welcome to Toy Polloi.
i had never heard of this one i have the kit from when it was released, so i did a search and found 1 on ebay for $520 about 500 quid ? my benfits wont stretch that far sadly i wish i had heard of this yrs back. i love sci fi and the hardware best the starfighter design which was originally put forward as the battlestar galactica fighter is epic...
For the lasers in the nose cones. Why not go with Fibre optic strands? Only problems would be finding a size that will work ( 0.25 - 3mm, 3 metre lengths on Ebay. So you should be able to get one that'll do the job. And the supplier is in the UK ) And, what the heck you'll do with the rest of the 3 metres after you've snipped the 80mm's off the roll you'll actually need. lol
This vid is great... and has caused me sadness! First; Stonegate Creations said they don't ship internationally when I asked them many moons ago. Second; that info caused me to get rid of my Starfighter husk for peanuts recently as I didn't think I'd ever be able to fix it it up :( PS: Great intro, looking forward to part 2!
I always thought it was a shame the Mego didn't give the 3.75" Buck Rogers figures a little more love. While Twiki looked amazing, Buck doesn't really look like the actor. Two of the Palomino crew figure from their Black Hole range look more like Buck than Buck does. They should have definitely have had blasters they could hold though, and removable helmets like their CHiPS figures would have been good. At least the Buck Rogers range had the Thunderfighter and Draconian Marauder ships that the figures could fit in, unlike the Battlestar Galactica range from Mattel, where the fighters were in a completely different scale altogether. In the TV show, though, the Thunderfighter was a two-man ship, with Buck often carrying Twiki as a passenger. They even had a four-seater version. Maybe something for some clever people and 3D printers to try?
Have tried heating the engine cones up with hot water before fitting then back on the ship? If so many crack, it might be because the softer plastic had shrunk a little over time. Warming them up might give them some of their flex back.
Your videos are top flight Dave. I learn something new each time! The restorations are my favourite, but the intros are also getting to be a mini highlight in themselves! Which UV glues would you recommend?
I recently acquired one of these, but the landing gear is missing that bolt/screw/pin that connects the foot with the leg. What would you recommend as far as replacing that pin?
Excellent work I wish someone would make a sticker sheet for the gi joe toxo lab they repros they make aren't very accurate and they used metallic instead of the normal ink so you know it's a custom sticker sheet
Ever tried WD-40 on the dry plastics? I soak my plastic parts for my RC vehicles in it if I'm needing them to be more flexible, haven't tried on any old toys but have used one newer ones...
@@toypolloi I hope it helps, there's a huge difference between the treated and untreated plastic on my models. Untreated breaks way easier than the parts that have been bathed in WD-40 but these are modern composite plastics so you may want to test on something you don't care about just in case ;) None of my transformer collection has that type of plastic apparently so I don't have anything old I can test on for you :(
@@toypolloi there was a TV show that they used to pull in cartoon network it was called alien racers and they made action figures and some of the figures suffered from leg cracking for some reason their legs will crack and break off
Buck Rogers pastiche intro? Yes please. I think I'd have to use Plastic Weld on all parts of that toy that weren't Polypropylene (engines & nosecones) - it sounds fragile as you move it about. And definitely on those wings. Horrible fit. It seems rather cynical to me - the figures are great, and well ahead of their time, but the vehicles are a bit shoddy, to be honest, as if they hoped kids would break them, and get parents to replace it.
To me that Starfighter is one of the best looking ships in the 70’s-80’s era! Beautiful 👍😁
This was a great episode but I got to say, that was an EPIC intro. I love it.
I've replayed the intro several times now, it's so very slick !!! Of course, I stayed for the restoration as well
Thanks Dave, it's always nice to de-stress from a hard days work with a good fix of Toy Polloi. 👍👍👍

I might need to start a separate channel for videos like that.
I love that I found your channel a while back. I used your paper clips method for the inner crotch/thumb of the GI Joes, but for my Corps figures. Then I used superglue, and baking soda.
The opening almost made me soil myself from laughing, granted, I'm a little ill. Your restorations always make me feel better, though.
Had to watch this again and comment on how impressed I was with the new opening!!! The quality was amazing, I could tell you put a lot of work into it and it paid off!!!! Top notch!!!
Thanks. That intro has been one I've wanted to make for a long time but wasn't sure how I'd go about it. Came out better than I hoped.
Thanks for showing how you create your custom decals. Seeing how you placed all the decals on your sheet for less waste material inspired me to do the same.
Another good toy video from one of my favorite TV shows as a kid! Can't wait to see part 2.
Thanks. A good layout is always a must. The more you can get on a sheet the better.
This video was so impressive I had to check my Funk and Wagnall’s
I find these videos so relaxing
Just the title alone to this video demanded the THUMBS UP!!!

Whose Tim?
Stopped the video to say that intro was amazing!
Thanks!
Nice work. It's tough to make low quality look good but you did it!
working on restoring mine now. excited.
Can’t wait to see the follow up video!

You should check out my videos on customising the Diecast version. As that wing always annoyed me as well.
Another cool project!

A good friday: Dave’s new video.
A less good friday: Dave utters, “in the next video”. 🤔🙂🤩
Surely it's good to know there will be another video!

Sweet intro! This is a bit of a low grail for me. Thanks for sharing.
Great work as always! Looking forward to seeing the progress on the custom star fighter!
Love the decals Nice👌
Love it! Thank you for this awesome video! ✨🧙🏻♂️✨

Came for the intro. Stayed for the content. Also, "beegie-beegie-beegie".

They’re beautiful 😲 I had Buck Rogers...but I never got the ship 😭

I am accepting international orders but you'll have to cover the shipping. Please contact me through the site.

I think it would be interesting to update the old toy from the original and cast it in new plastic. Add detail, close up some gaps.
There is a guy doing just that, Retroblasting has done a review
I would love to see this done up in the Battlestar Galactica Alternative colours and stickers. I
Another excellent video Dave👍👍Do you need a new brush each time with the plastic weld, or can it be washed out with something?? ☯️
I leave the brush and it turns solid. Next time I use it it softens as soon as you put it back into the bottle. So don't throw the brush away.
Your videos are top flight Dave. I learn something new each time! The restorations are my favourite, but the intros are also getting to be a mini highlight in themselves! Which UV glues would you recommend?
Thanks! I've only used one UV glue so far, so can't compare. It was a cheap one from eBay and worked very well.
I wonder if you could modify the guts from a Kenner/Palitoy vintage Snow Speeder for lights, could also keep the sound features
I'll be making it from scratch. Check out my custom snow speeder lights video to get a rough idea on what I'll do.
When will part 2 of this awesomeness be released?
I'm waiting on parts to arrive so I can film it. Cheers
The engine part, can you sandpaper the inside and make the opening a bit bigger?
I wouldn't want to as it feels very brittle already.
you have 2 of those, i'm totally jealous i can't even find a stripped down hull on e-bay for under $300.00 ...
Cool intro!
Was there ever a part 2? Can’t seem to find it.
This video only went live today. Part two will be along in a few weeks. Makes sure you are subscribed to be notified when it goes live. Cheers
I recently acquired one of these, but the landing gear is missing that bolt/screw/pin that connects the foot with the leg. What would you recommend as far as replacing that pin?
Maybe some lego cut to fit?
Do you know if anyone makes repro front landing gear for the marauder? It's the only thing I need to finish it off. Keep up the good work.
Try stonegate creations. Cheers
Thank you.
Why not use U.V Glurme on Mose Cones
Excellent work I wish someone would make a sticker sheet for the gi joe toxo lab they repros they make aren't very accurate and they used metallic instead of the normal ink so you know it's a custom sticker sheet
Went by too fast! 🙂
Looking forward to part 2

Not something I have tried, but it sounds interesting. I will give it a go.

You see the collector who is reproducing the entire ship as well as Battlestar Galactica viper , raider and tanks?
That is Robert Bergaron I think his name is, he work is fantastic, he has his own channel
Soak the comes in Gylcerine or vegetable oil to give the plastic
Some oil anain
Never understood why they stuck that strange black and white 'grid' sticker on the front of the ship. Looks bizarre.
I'm guessing they were solar panels?
There is a TH-camr out there that actually modified Hot Wheel cars I make them look better than Hot Wheels
The problem from these toys that some of them were made out a really cheap plastic
Yep. Mego used the cheapest plastic in their vehicles.
@@toypolloi there was a TV show that they used to pull in cartoon network it was called alien racers and they made action figures and some of the figures suffered from leg cracking for some reason their legs will crack and break off
i had one. i loved mego toys, but, damn, they were cheeeeeeeap and broke easily.
