I think it's entirely possible the memetic song is just something to mess with us and invoke paranoia. Savathùn plays games, she keeps you running in circles trying to clutch at threads that lead nowhere. Simple fact is neither Lakshmi nor Savathùn need a magic song to play on people's prejudice and fears.
I have thought this for a while. The only part that concerns me is that if it is all just a hoax, why is savathun using it? It's not running us in circles yet. It's creating paranoia in us as players but in terms of characters who have heard it, only Eris is concerned, and she didn't seem concerned about it until Drifter told her that others were singing it. Characters who haven't heard it are not concerned at all because they have no idea what it is. If the song is having effects then it makes sense why she would use it. I'm curious if others have heard it, Variks "the loyal" seems to turn a blind eye and let certain people escape prison at the order of the nine, a group which he knows minimal about. But since the nine gave Drifter the chip with the pyramid on it I've struggled to see them as Allie's. It's like they wants him to let's the darkness in.
@@harrymarshall4080 Maybe it will be revealed to all of them later, or maybe Savathun is just using it's deception to get stronger, because if she reveals herself quick then some people can try and combat her. Either its gon be like plague inc and she gon turn up the liability and death rate from the virus when all of them have it.. The sound of inevitability. The City tears itself apart. The Darkness wins, again. The Winnower smiles smugly as the pattern emerges and repeats itself.
That; that’s exactly it. The Winnower and the Gardener are fighting a philosophical war, a battle of ideologies and theories about the nature of the universe and the life that inhabits it. The Winnower believes in the inevitability of fate, the pattern is the truth of the universe and the garden will grow in its organized design. The Gardener wants to prove that everything is not preordained, that people can choose to make the world different and break the pattern to form a wild and unpredictable garden of a universe. It’s dark vs light, the Traveler vs the Pyramids, free will vs fate, nurturing diversity vs extreme survival of the fittest, bomb logic vs sword logic, altruism vs self-serving….

What I love about this too is that this little tune is so catchy, nearly every Destiny player has probably hummed it before. It's like how Savathun is indirectly affecting the real world
I swear Osiris at one point quotes something about manipulating the human mind and vex simulations during the beginning of the override mission on Europa...
Maybe osiris is being controlled and trying to let us know?... Or... Maybe he isn't himself at all, vex can simulate osiris he's been in the forest so many times it's basically his second home, but... They can't simulate light as we learnt on nessus... Fake him losing his light and place a simulation over the city that he conveniently can't solve and have him differ it to a machine that predicts the future and tells people how to change it to something else due to vex tech... Lakashimi was hacked by the vex all along... Osiris is a simulation... The city is singing savathuns song... Savathun was given a vex mind oryx took...the audio clip was in Binary... *Holy crap I've got it* The death song isn't music... *it's FREAKING CODE* THE SONG OF LIFE IT WAS DERIVED FROM CAME FROM THE TRAVELLER, THE DEATH SONG IS THE UNIVERSE CODE FOR DEATH, FOR A VEX SIMULATION THE UNIVERSE FOR DESTINY COULD POTENTIALLY BE PARTIALLY A VEX SIMULATION SINCE ORYX GAVE SAVATHUN THE MIND!!! IT'S NOT A SONG IT'S CODE! Its all coming together... And we. are. *boned*
Also we "saved" osiris in the pit yes during the season of the hunt. . But by the time we got to him his ghost had already been long dead. It could be that we actually did't save him. When his ghost died he was taken and is now just a puppet. It would also explain why he been acting strange.
This year has been bananas story wise. I'm both excited and terrified of the potential outcomes from the spread of this song. Also Osiris has me Sus after this week's expunge mission. Good job bungie.
Lakshmi's voice actor has got my favorite voice, full stop. It's just so pleasant. I was always a FWC stan due to her voice alone. However this season has me questioning my allegiance to her. I think we might have to put her down, guys.
I can't help but think back to a certain meme, albeit in the context of this situation. Guardian: "I am the City Guardian, Guardian of the City" Saint from far away: "Savathun trembles before him!" *Savathun approaches* Guardian: "F*ck off!"
I've wanted the Witch Queen dlc to start out with individual characters humming along to the song along with the townsfolk, scenes cutting between them before the camera zooms out over the city, each and every voice singing with green lights in houses. Boom, titlecard.
@@Sal-fg3rs Most people actually DON'T know him. Holliday doesn't, for example. The only ones who know for sure are the player character, Ikora, Osiris, and Zavala. The entire reason Ikora and Zavala are keeping him away from the House Light situation despite his affinity for the Eliksni is because the face of Uldren Sov, who everyone DOES know, being associated with House Light is ridiculously bad optics for Ikora's case to keep House Light in the City. And he isn't Zavala's personal protector. Osiris covertly assigned Crow to Zavala's protection early last season, after the first assassination attempt he openly became Zavala's security, and now he is canonically a recon agent with the task of finding out who is behind the assassination attempts. Which means he can fuck off away from the City during this incredibly stressful time where the face of Uldren Sov is NOT needed.
We do still need to consider that Crow has heard the song. I think this makes his a potential culprit. Someone else commented that crow has been tasked with finding those behind the assassination attempts which allows him to stay away from the tower. Jokes does not trust him because of his past so the last thing she needs is for Crow to be helping. But if he is supposed to be looking for the assassin's, why was he in the Eliksni quarter? He seems to be becoming rather connected to the Eliksni. If Byf is correct about the song being capable of mind control (which I think is true), then I'm beginning to question how much of Crow's affection for the Eliksni is actually his own, is Savathun trying to make us trust him more than we should?
The more I hear Osiris lately, and the way he is interacting with other people and decisions that is making (not letting Mithrax help Lakshmi with her device, prying further and further to Vex tech whenever we do an Override, etc), the more I start giving credit to the theory that Osiris is Savathun, or at least under her control.
@@juliane.mfarias9285 Exactly. If the Eliksni so much as TOUCH that device and something happens to Lakshmi after using it, the city will come down on the House of Light like a ton of bricks and there will be nothing anyone can say or do to convince the people that it wasn't because of Eliksni saboteurs.
well actually lakshmi is a big fat meanie and osiris didn't want mithrax to get near her personally, i think this osiris is savathun theory is fuckin stupid, just because sagira was killed because they couldn't afford her voice actor doesn't mean that osiris becomes an avatar of the hive god of deception.
@@juliane.mfarias9285 Agreed, however the way he said it, and the degree to which he insisted on not using Mithrax's expertise suggests that he is hiding something that Lakshmi is doing that Mithrax would instantly notice. If my Guardian had agency within the world I would be going straight to Ada to determine if FWC was truly getting the assistance of the Black Armory in working with the data, or if Osiris just made up a lie on the spot. Osiris is extremely suspicious, and it seems likely that he is the one working with Lakshmi to cause a coup. Even if he isn't outright Savathun, he's not nearly as trustable as we once thought. Osiris from Dawn to Arrivals (Dawn because he starts participating in the story again, no need to mention from Curse of Osiris to Undying) is likely the only Osiris we can trust.
All the lore and in-game build up for Savathun really makes me want a Hive War Moon to come with Witch Queen. It'd be such an amazing locale and I feel like they could tuck more lore for Hive all around it.
I would rather have war moons be brought by Xivu Arath, make it just like she did on Torobatl. The red war invasion on steroids. Just absolut mayhem! Savathûn I hope is trickier than that.
its actually amazing how much detail they out into this from how far back they started this. but its also terrifying that no one knows that its savathun's song and that we're playing right into her hands
Screw the City and the racist dicks that only needed a corruptible politician that’s planning a coup to act on their violent impulses. We’re supposed to protect the Last City as its Guardians. But I know my Hunter and Warlock are having second thoughts about that job description. (My Titan is stubborn and takes his job as a wall literally sometimes.)
MY head cannon is that Savathun's songs lyrics are based on the person and related too something they seek or that brings them happiness, Fallen wanting their light back, Shaxx hearing a child sing something similar and it brings him happiness to think back on Letting her control them by contorting their thoughts through it such as changing the fallens beliefs too us taking their light or shaxx too a mindset we killed that child kinda thing letting them be either taken or just controlled
I have to admit, by halfway through both of lakshmi's speeches I had instinctually tried to use every damage option I had available, but since both were in noncombat areas I just awkwardly got in her face and pressed all my bumpers and triggers. That said, if bungie hadn't stopped me, FWC would've needed a new leader and I would've had to explain to saint why I used a golden gun on a civilian.
Trust me, as a New Monarchy Titan, I'd gladly shove her skull in the dirt like I was planting a dumbass tree. But all that would do is make her a martyr. The best way to defeat a leader like that is discrediting them. Which, sadly, thanks to savathun's influence, that wont be possible.
@@emperorunicorn2826 I was with new monarchy becvause they looked cool. But Executor Hideo is just as bad, Dead Orbit too... they all wanna have a coup against the vanguard. They're all assholes.
I'm going to assume that Osiris ended up picking it up from Crow, and when it was implanted in him that's what allowed Savathun to suggest that he puts the crown in the tower. He probably didn't even realize how horrible of an idea it was.
Honestly Savathun's Song popping up so much in Destiny is one of the coolest story beats I've seen in a while. When Lahksmi sang the song I got chills and said "Are you fucking kidding me??"
I want to see Saint-14 and Mithrax back to back absolutely destroying the FWC, and I want to see Saint-14 just obliterate Lakshmi with perfect Paradox.
For me it’s strange as I’ve never heard the actual tempo of the song cause at the time I hadn’t been playing Destiny around the release of Shadow-keep and yet I knew how it was suppose to sound like. So when I heard Lakshmi sing the song, I IMMEDIATELY was able to recognize that it was Savathoun’s hymn. I think this is how Bungie is taking the story by making us recognize the tune by constantly having other characters hum it too
Actually, I found the post cutscene silence to be a far more effective reaction than any other dialogue. Mithrax was spent after telling off the Eliksni boogyman to his face and Saint was stunned into silence learning than the saying one man's hero is another's monster is a two way street.
@@georgepickle2871 One key difference these writers conveniently forget about. Our monster defends his home. If they don't want to see him, all they need do is go back where they came from.
After all those hints that Osiris might be Savathun/ might be controlled by her, him asking if we would join forces with her after the Override mission feels like Savathun asking "wait, you'd really team up with ME??"
Well, she didn’t want us to communicate with it. My personal theory is that there was an element of truth in what she told Nokris: she’s realised that the deal they made with the worms was a bad one, and she wants out. So in the Witch Queen we won’t be killing her, we’ll be saving her.
Lakshmi said she’s peered into the future and saw the eliksni fighting in the middle of the city… what she didn’t realize is prob the eliksni are the only ones not corrupted by savathun
I think when she looked at the future she was just focused on looking for a reason to get the eliksni out of the city and didn't bother to look at what they were fighting and see that they were, most likely, helping the citizens
@@Gezzastellamoretti well it has been suspected that after we end the endless night that the epilogue on the road map is a vex invasion on the city that we will fight with the house of light and lakshmi will die during it.

Guardians: why do I hear boss music
Hanging with the Drifter just made me feel that much safer.
BRUH I THINK SO TOO HONESTLY.
Have you heard of Imbaru
Isn't savathuns worm fed through deception and not through slaughter? If so this makes perfect sense.
She used it on the ahamkara skull and also the binary code in the FWC. She is trying to spread it first.
When I saw the cutscene and Saint said he couldn't find any witnesses I couldn't help but ask. Did you even look for witnesses Saint?
There were no witnesses tho, only the culprits and Crow, and neither can reveal themselves
@@onlyicedgarrett7791 Crow has been revealed to everyone. All of the tower knows his identity. Zavala made him his personal protector.
Anyone who was there won't rat out their allies, or is Crow. There's no witnesses to look for.
There was an good explaination to not letting Mithrax help Lakshmi: Because she could nounce him as a saboteur
@@juliane.mfarias9285 Exactly. If the Eliksni so much as TOUCH that device and something happens to Lakshmi after using it, the city will come down on the House of Light like a ton of bricks and there will be nothing anyone can say or do to convince the people that it wasn't because of Eliksni saboteurs.
well actually lakshmi is a big fat meanie and osiris didn't want mithrax to get near her
personally, i think this osiris is savathun theory is fuckin stupid, just because sagira was killed because they couldn't afford her voice actor doesn't mean that osiris becomes an avatar of the hive god of deception.
