  • Hi, I'm Tinesha and I recorded this video four months ago on January 25th in Geneva, Switzerland...my heart was broken for the plight of black Americans in America. Who could have imagined that four months later to the date, on May 25th the police would take the life of yet another black man breaking hearts all over this country - again.

    I grew up in Geneva and I am so proud and have felt like this growing up there about diversity. I was so shocked when I moved to a VERY WHITE American Chicago suburb. And my shock has only gotten worse over the past 10 years....

    I really love this video, bc I did born in Switzerland but I’m an Albanian Muslim and I always felt safe in Switzerland, the people here are very nice compare to America. I‘m not saying Switzerland is perfect and doesn’t has racism or discrimination but it’s not that big like in America. I have to say that we have a lot of people in Switzerland with different skin color, Muslims or different nationalities, respecting each other. Sending love to u, stay yourself ❤️

    Hi I'm half Swiss half Thai, I faced really few racism, my best friend is also mixed but she's half Burkinabe and half Swiss she faced more than me in this. Racism is everywhere but we feel blessed because the majority of people are supportive and our country is really multicultural even amongst white Swiss with our languages, each Canton have its own culture. I live in the Canton of Vaud and I feel accepted even by the country side folks, I'm part of a youth group and most of people from these youth groups are white (youth groups are mostly a country side culture in my canton) and never in those gathering of youth group I felt discriminated against and I'm the only poc in mine. All of my childhood friends are white but they are like brothers to me, police men when they come to our village to control people for the pandemic (we were not supposed to be more than 5 in the same open space) they did control our IDs but they knew we always hang out with each other and we always had nice chat with them. And our education system is truly a blessing (except for our language teaching, I was lucky enough to have a native English speaker as a teacher). I'm not religious but even in church I feel accepted (I go to church once a year for the Toussaint celebration it's a holiday to celebrate the dead and the Saints it's like the Halloween celebration, same day but more religious).
    I'm rambling bc I may be a little bit tipsy

    Thank you for sharing...seriously.This is why travel is the best education. Just simply getting out OUT and being able to realise you dont have to take that shit and that's not how it is everywhere...I've never had alot of money,still dont we make like 50 grand a year now in our I'd thirties obviously I'm white so not the same but. I made it a priority to travel and I try so hard to explain and encourage people who just feel it's not for them and they cant so it to travel because it opens your fucking eyes

    Listen!!! Always KNOW that the TOURIST EXPERIENCE is NOT the same as the experience of living in a place with the locals, doing the same things that the locals do day in day out.
    As tourists, one is ALWAYS WELCOME because of the DOLLARS!!!
    When someone follows your blog and thinks "oh Geneva, or Berlin or Paris is soooo friendly I am going to move there" and then actually does that, then that person will get to find out HOW RACIST the locals truly are. It's going to be a RUDE AWAKENING. I'm talking out of experience!

    • @FunandBudget
      @FunandBudget  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Listen!!! You may be new to this channel or my videos...but I am an avid worldwide traveler. I go on a vacation once a month...so trust me I know the difference between being a traveler and a local and how any experience is never going to be the same as a fully immersed experience. So as a traveler who's been to many countries and many places I am speaking from astute observation and general vibration. Trust...Geneva felt different. Trust...another black man was executed in America. And if anyone moves to a city/place/zoo because of what they watched on my vlog - they are STUPID...they have more issues than being influenced by a video on youtube. Are you serious right now? You watched a vlog and then moved? wow.

    I am tired of feeling scared every time I kiss my husband goodbye before he goes to work not knowing if he will return home today! Every time I see my children growing up to be strong black men and someone feeling threatened by the color of their skin. Life shouldn’t be lived with these fears because someone’s skin color should never be a topic of conversation. 🖤

    My heart goes out to you, Andre, and Gwen...life is so precious. We have a right to get help for our family and friends. I think we are going to see more diversity in the police departments. How can we get people in their neighborhoods to serve and protect in their neighborhoods as well? There needs to be abundant and consistent monies be put into these very communities for starters. There needs to be accountability and transparency for how the monies are being used.
