The 2nd and last rooms were very well designed, but the first and third rooms relied on the player figuring out there were glitches in the map geometry with no real indication that they were there (as well as the third room giving no indication on what you were supposed to do in general). A well designed escape room should have the player be able to figure it out with the hints they're provided with in the room.
That's the best escape rooms. There's a logic that's consistent, and you have access to all the tools needed. If a new mechanic is introduced, like a boulder disappearance after beating a trainer, then that mechanic should be taught through game design. Instead of a master ball hidden in trees that are normally impassable, have an item ball in the trees to encourage the player to investigate the first room so they know it's possible, and then it's ok to be hidden after that after knowing it's possible. A level up moveset shouldn't be messed with unless the move is available immediately, or the Pokémon with a move is needed beforehand, and the experience from a fight levels it up to learn a new move then. Otherwise how would we know Farfetch'd learns cut in one level, or what stops us from thinking Meowth doesn't learn it by leveling up 5 levels for example. These puzzle rooms are ok, but following logic already established in the game, or using gane design to teach new mechanics, would improve it a lot.
Okay, room 3. I LOVE the vision of the room. A simple path surrounded by a false puzzle. But gosh darn it Fank you need to give CLUES to the things XD Have an NPC or something talk about reading the sign again, or someone mention falling through a wall? But aside from that, it was SO awesome XD Loved the little jokes like the stairs and the house insurance.
I love the idea, but I'd love it more if it was fully built around mechanics, not glitches. Like invisible walls you can walk through, eh, but like using abilities to cut obstacles. Like for example, using cut to cut grass to not get a guaranteed death encounter, or using sweet scent to summon a needed pokemon, things like that.
@@Lyro92 seconding this. Second Pokémon Escape Room I'm seeing and I really hope this becomes a common thing but it has to test the pokémon knowledge of the players. The only way I would expect players to test for fake walls is if you put Koga in the room and even then it would really be stretching it (as Koga's gym still had some visual indication) Playing into the mechanics, movesets and lore should be what these puzzles test for.
@@SuperMoepsi You shouldn't need to talk to the game master to get the hints to be able to move forward. That's the equivalent of needing to turn on easy mode just to get past a section. The hints are there as a failsafe...for example, if the in game clues aren't good enough to convey what you need to do (or are non-existent.) For the first puzzle, it's not that it's 'too hard', is that they didn't expect the learn sets to have been changed. So maybe with a hint or warning towards that at the start it is more manageable.
Dude, this might be one of the best videos I've seen in years. Seriously. Absolute banger dude. Frank, you should be incredibly proud of what you've created here. Thank you for sharing this experience with all of us.

These puzzles using Pokémon mechanics are so creative! You really thought these through, I think they would have gotten them with more in-game hints. Great video dude!
I agree some of the puzzles require a deep knowledge of Pokemon, and to figure that out while doing it must be very rewarding and educational. However. A lot of the puzzles are straight-up badly designed. Having walls that you need to check and walk through with no visual indication is simply tedious and annoying. Having a sign that you need to read 5 times with no form of indication is frustrating. There's nothing smart or interesting about that. Verbally lying to the players just when they ask a question, like the unreasonable non-puzzles themselves, is just so disappointing from design and player perspective. All the mechanics in this video could be compiled into one or two rooms and left at that. If he were to do something like this again, he needs to keep a consistent theme and teach the players how to think in a coherent manner, instead of throwing curve balls after curve balls that feel like they exist just to be ha ha funny random.
Okay, the Legends room ROCKS. That's such a cool challenge run! That's really hitting them right in the competitive awareness and turns Competitive 100% into a logic and tactics game to dismantle the tower. Especially with how the typing of the legends change how the moves will work. And the level up wait is a subtle stress builder :)

The glitch part is absolutely fair, no room should depend on glitches unless clearly hinted at, but Farfetch’d does learn Cut by level up at that level (at least until the Switch games, which I’m not familiar with). Like, you could make a roguelike outta this, there's probably multiple roguelikes out there with a similar concept!
Amazing video Frank you are doing amazing things keep it up
I feel like these gyms are gotchas, not puzzles. It's someone designing an enigma, giving no context or clues, and thinking they've made a puzzle lol.
Hear me out… we need a VINTENDO rage montage of him failing at these😂😂
This video is insane, a whole puzzle solving escape room is amazing to be achieved in pokemon and so many strats can be pulled with this
This was fantastic. Came here from smants video and i love the concept, it's new and exciting and fun to try to work it out while they do. Very excited to see where everyone takes it and I'll be sure to tune in to your videos from now on.
Aye thank you! Means a lot!
This is an absolute masterpiece as always Frank LOL. Now I'm waiting for the full Pokemon escape room game...
Frank the goat, so creative and gives us the most well edited most interesting content we never knew we needed
This video was sick! Defiantly should do a part 2!
Frank is like the non-murdering Jigsaw of the Pokemon community. I mean this in the best way possible.
One of the best videos i've seen in a while, amazing creativity with those puzzles dude!
Wow, this was amazing, i can't, id love to see more vids like this in the future ❤
Omg, this might be the best video i saw in YEARS! Amazing Frank, just amazing!!
That is one of the most diabolically brilliant puzzles I've ever seen. Great video!
This the dopest unique concept for content I done seen in a while.
Top tier video! I would love to see more stuff like this, that 4th room was killer!
Dude that was amazing! Honestly love your work, keep it up 😊
OK obviously the video was amazing. But now I really want a full-fledged rom hack with this concept
i'd love to see one of these where all of the solutions are less technical and more goofy (more like room 3) cause that room was a ton of fun to watch!
Plz make more of these videos 😂. Their so fun to watch and keep surprise price which makes it more fun
If I could, I’d like this video 20 time. Probably the most creative Pokémon video I’ve seen so far.
Might be the best Pokémon video I’ve watched ! This is insane 🔥🔥🔥
Swung by after watching SmallAnt's version. This has the feeling of a really rough first draft, but it's such an awesome concept.
