    Covering the icebox with a spare sleeping bag and out of direct sun can also help! 😉

    Looks very much like the 24L evakool I have, love that thing.

    I've had my 25l for 12 yrs now, it's still holds my meat for 3 days in North Queenslands summer weather (35'c average) in shade and not opening until the 3rd day with a nice layer of salt across the top ! I actually paid $31 at bcf to replace the catch and loops as I absolutely love my evakool icebox....perfect just for 2! Perfect for a slab of beer and 3/4 of bag of ice too 👍

    What was the daytime temperature when you did the 4-day test? Also, how many days do you think blocks of ice would last before going warm if you filled this icebox all the way to the top with just blocks of ice from drink bottles in say average 30 C daytime summer temps?

    • @ruggedlife
      @ruggedlife  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey mate. From recollection the day time temps where around low 20's tops. I reckon you could get 3 days assuming you dont open the lid.

      Best tip is to pre chill the night before using it, throw a frozen 1.25ltr drink bottle in and will make a huge difference

    So you recommend this ridge rider brand I see it for 50% off at supercheap I was also looking at the willow 50l at big w what are your thoughts ?

    • @ruggedlife
      @ruggedlife  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would say Willow brand is less quality so if the price difference between the two is not that big due to the Ridge Ryder being 50% off then I would go Ridge Ryder. Remember that the Ridge Ryder is actually Evakool behind its skin which is a reputable brand.

    just curious, what was the average temp on your camping trip?

    • @ruggedlife
      @ruggedlife  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmmm this is a while back now so I cant give you an accurate figure. However, my wild guess is the average would have been around 12-16. Queensland winter

      @@ruggedlife thanks for your reply. i know the vid is old so didn't have high hopes I'd get an answer. Just one more thing - how well do you think the icebox will do in say 33c heat? as in how long will it stay cold?

    • @ruggedlife
      @ruggedlife  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pheenix1976 no worries. If you only open it a couple of times and make sure the icebox is never under direct sunlight and the inside is full with less airspace and lots of ice then id say at least 2 days maybe 3. Opening and closing is the killer followed by allowing it to be under direct sun.
