Here's a guide on how to get the Rivers of Blood Katana in Elden Ring. It's a fantastic weapon for Dex/Arc builds and blood loss build up. This weapon has now been fixed in Elden Ring Patch Update 1.03 to get out there to the location and find one of the best katana weapons in the game. Enjoy the gameplay

It seems the scaling stats are currently bugged for this weapon, but still worth grabbing for when they fix!
It’s all arcane scaling weapons atm feels bad man
Arcane does scale up bleed passive on it but other than that no damage scaling it seems
@@kyero8724 faith in general is pretty scuffed as a stat if you are trying to add it through affinity, holy infusion cripples the base scalings of the weapon so much that the added holy damage doesnt actualy make up for it. the best affinity currently seems to be cold since it barely touches base scalings and adds an ok amount of int scaling on top of providing cold procs which give insane damage. the balance of power in terms of ashes of war and affinities seems to be extremely skewed towards bleed and cold overall not just because of scalings but also because the actual weapon skills are batshit insane. hoarfrost stomp is bonkers and bloody slash or whatever same

@@kyoshioshiro6256 to my knowledge there is only one weapon in the game that causes madness on hit, 2 spells and no ashes of war that make your weapon apply madness. you can't make your weapon apply madness with an ash of war so you dont really get to exploit faith as a booster in that regard.
I know that there are some youtubers that are upset that videos like this are out there showing us how to get weapons. But honestly this game is so massive that by the time I do get to the area shown I've completely forgotten about it and am surprised by whatever weapon or talisman I get anyway. I'm happy this content is out there👍.

I still don’t understand this mindset. I’m about 40-50 hours in. Power leveled to 100. And have explored a TON! I get so many items that don’t fit my build :( I like to find out what areas my gear is in and just mess around. It’s ok to use guides! Lol

Just a heads up, if you decide to take on the Fire Giant first you will not be able to get certain invasions like this one to trigger, therefore you’ll have to play through the whole game again to get Rivers of Blood

Once they fix the scaling bug im definitely dual wielding this with moonveil. I know its probably more practical and cheaper to just use two uchigatanas but i like the idea of wielding a holy and a cursed sword at the same time.

You have to kill two bosses in the capital to get to the snow area.

The helmet you get from beating the mimic adds 8 to your arcane stat so you really only need 12 to be able to use this weapon.

I think you probably want a higher arcane than the minimum if you're looking to do a blood build.

If you defeat the giant (local boss) there first, you might be in the same unlucky situation I'm in now. It seems that when you defeat the boss, the NPC Invader will no longer spawn. Because of this mistake, I now have to get this weapon on my second playthrough. And I don't have a chance to wield two of them, I guess.

Little hint, if you kill any endboss of an area you wont get invaded by any npc, means if you killed the big fire gigant in this area u cant get the blade anymore till you go new game (2. Run)

For those who cannot get this anymore because they already defeated the fire giant, there is another weapon similar to this that has an even higher blood loss build up. It’s called Eleonora’s poleblade. It’s a badass weapon that looks even cooler than this but still has the same blood loss effect and it’s basically rivers of blood but double sided. It’s awesome, I believe it’s not particularly difficult to get either because I just picked it up randomly through my play through.

I remember this, you get it from that samurai npc's questline. Have to defeat Eleonora but worth it, it is an awesome weapon
Use the ash of war "wild strike" to counter. It gives you poise and if you use items to protect you from bleed, you will deal more damage than the river of blood user. Of course, you need to pay attention, because if you miss the input, well, your blood and your hp will leave your body.

Tip for some that are haven issues fighting him if you get the grace in the church first then fight him it will save time running back to the fight if he kills you

@@asherog953 Did you kill the fire giant? Pretty sure he will no longer spawn if the giant has been defeated. I missed out on him in my first playthrough, so started the next.
I’ve been duelling this with the dragon scale and I love this combo. Bleed damage is intense, lightning damage, ice damage and I sometimes use fire or poison OR BOTH incantations. It’s like an all in one build

Strategy: use a great shield with the bash to close distance minimising the damage you take and weapon that causes a buildup e.g serpentbone blade
Crystal sword is actually pretty great when you strengthen it 2 or 3 times
With a good shield it's legit .
Currently using double slash ashe of war since these two share the exact same animation and inputs. I do think double slash is a little slower so i’ll be sure to find this armament. thanks for the guide!

accidentally killed Fire Giant before finding the invader so he wouldn’t spawn anymore. Had to trade with someone for it, so make sure you do this before Fire Giant!

I’ve been missing a lot of OP weapons because I always kill the main boss in an area before I make sure that I’ve fought all my foes in it, so don’t be hasty and fight the boss direct. Let it be your last mission in the area otherwise your gear will not look so badass like mine😅

I slaughtered
Malenia with this katana+10 and mimic in a few tries, the dmg output the special skill is quite crazy.
I slaughtered Malenia the same way, but I beat her first try.
If you are having trouble killing the invader, put hoarfrost stomp on any weapon you have that’s as upgraded as possible and spam him with it

@@etcaz590 Mimic Tear +10, Bloodhounds fang +10 with Freezing grease or frozen weapon was my strat! Great sword staggers her endlessly with the mimic in on the tomfoolery! Plus CHUNKING the health between bleed and frostbite. Toughest fight in the game hands down.

to anyone finding this video years later, dont take the "navigate east" statement as a short trek to this location. you need to go alllll the way northeast then wrap around to the church. theres a lot in between so if youre not already OP levels/ or a soulslike God, be patient on this journey.

In my opinion, moonvail + FB build is quite better then blood katana. It might cause over 3k damage on enemy

@@mentally322 FB is Mana that use for magic. Moonvail + magic build is similar to Hybrid build. This build causes not only weapon but also magic damage. Elden Ring won Game of the Year 2022 yesterday. It’s a great game from Form software

@@mentally322 yes, samurai class is one of best class for beginner. Level up vingo 30, Fb 20 or 22. faith 15, inte as many as you can. No don’t think bleed dex, my moonvail is in right hand and staff is on my left hand. This way will attack in long or short distance

@@TB-ll1uy Has no bonus damage from scaling and only had its base damage. You can tell this by it not having a +damage value next to the base.

The this weapon like all the arcane scaling weapons are currently bugged and do no scale correctly, until patched if you use them they are severally under powered
A handful of the weapons with Arc scaling do work properly, but only a select few. Reduvia and Morgott's for instance DO scale properly, but Rivers of Blood, Elenora's, Regalia, etc. all do not. So the scaling bug is not consistent across the full line of Arcane scaling weapons.

Don’t max out the weapons that have dual scaling until they’re fixed. Maxing them out actually makes them weaker for some reason. Go to just one under and wait for a patch.
If you have the physical version of elden ring, you can redownload the game to have the version where this weapon still scale normally

Would be better off doing this after the blade has been fixed and has scaling as it does not scale at all atm unless they confirm its intended

I using this weapon atm, +10, 53vig, 53dex, 23arc. And i feel so powered. Imagine when they `fix` lol so fucking monster.
Reminds me of the Mortal Blade from Sekiro, which as soon as I got, bosses became so much easier. I can only imagine this weapon will do the same for me when I get it. Unfortunately I just started the game so it’ll be a little while before I get to wield this sword, but I already know THIS is the weapon I want and NEED. I already know once I get it, I won’t be using anything else. I just wish it was accessible earlier in the game. Guess I gotta earn it 🙄

The bleed scales with ARC I am pretty sure

@@certified_hater.. it was supposed to be patched this Friday (yesterday) from what I have heard. Not sure if that’s the reality of it though. The bleed scaling *seems* to be fine? I was able to take down Melania with rivers of blood katana, so either I got *really* lucky or they patched it.

If you wanna kill the invader with the rivers of blood easily i recommend you aquire the greatsword and add the bloodhounds step as of war its great cause you teleport while poking her which makes u hard to hit

No one use this weapon at the moment btw, it's currently bugged and doesn't scale with any of your stats at all so keep it in your inventory for now
I mean you can just use the stats required to wield the weapon and dump the rest into hp endurance mind and do some lower level pvp
I using this weapon, and the art on it is pwning all invaders, i have it on +10 and i going to ng+. Just need to pwn the last boss. I killed all bosses with this weap dude. LV 140, vigor 53, arc 23, dex 53. Also I have all the weapons of this game already. Including Moonlight greatsword. But really, is very funny to play with this river of blood. Maybe, ill respect later to use moonveil int/dex build while they fix arc, moonveil looks so terrible also.

You are kinda late, its not even close to beeing op.
Its not even really good anymore compared to the stronger weapons in the game.
But its still useble.
RoB Katana isn't really op. I recommend the Nagikaba which I used for my build. (still working on it)
Keen Nagikaba with BloodFlame - (with Double Slash Ash of War)
Bull-Goat Talisman - (increases Poise) adding this with Radhan's armor, my poise became 84 adding that with blood is pretty op.
Lord Of Blood's Exultation Talisman - (No need to explain this talisman is good for bleed)
Physick - Use Dex tear (i forgot the other tear i was using)
I also use Blood grease.
And Seppuku Ash of War with my Uchigatana
I made the Fire Giant at half hp first try with this build and I'm still working on it.
