What do you mean sweet? There’s literally no sweetener of any kind - completely unsweetened chocolate and eggs. Unsweetened chocolate is bitter as heck.
@@anitas5817 It would have to have sweetener in it to be able to eat it. Chocolate chips have sugar in them. She must have used them or you couldn’t eat it.
Baked this last night and it was delicious! Added some vanilla extract and a little bit of salted butter to the chocolate and it was a hit! Thank you for this simple recipe!
Looks great. I don't know if you know this but, if you take a small scoop of the whites and mix it into the chocolate first, it makes the folding of the rest of the whites a lot easier, and this way you don't have to worry about deflating them.

I just used Lilly's sugar free pumpkin spice chips. I melted them, added egg yolks beated it up,then added the whipped egg yolks. Poured it in my 8 inch cake pan then sprinkled cinnamon on top and baked 20 minutes. Lord my house smells like thanksgiving. SO GOOD WITH WHIP CREAM ON TOP!!! THANK YOU MYRA 🥰
I make chocolate candy like this with dark choc chips and coconut oil Melt it in microwave then add peanut butter to it and pour on to paper plate and stir in nuts or raisins or coconut. I’ve even added oatmeal put in freezer for few minutes. It’s awesome!!!
I think I just fell in love! I am having to go keto because of multiple health issues. I thought it would mean never eating fresh baked bread and chocolate cake, two of the greatest pleasures in my life! I am also disabled and can’t spend much time on my feet. There’s some good recipes for keto bread out there too, not to mention keto bread in stores and nearly every city and many towns have keto bakeries that sell fresh baked bread. There are several in Phoenix and some of it is the best bread I’ve ever had, keto or not!

I just made this tonite and I could not get stiff peaks but it still came out heavenly. I did add a tsp of baking powder and a scoop of instant coffee and handful of pecans to mine. Omg this with some berries and whipped cream. My husband goes into the hospital tomorrow and when he gets out in a few days I’ll surprise him with this. Thanks Myra!

I love the simplicity, but I am going to modify a bit & add vanilla, salt, and (maybe) a little coffee to balance the flavor and some butter in the melted chocolate so it doesn’t harden (also, everything is better with butter!). I’m going to make a frosting with melted cream cheese and keto strawberry jam. I’m also going to fold in some of the whites into the chocolate before folding the rest into the mix. Can’t wait to try this with my spin on it!
UPDATE: I modified the recipe a bit and used ChocZero White Hazelnut spread and it was divine!! I made for 2 servings: - 65g choczero hazelnut spread - 1 egg Followed the procedure as in the video. It works!! I love this ♥️ Pre-edit: I love this! Quick and easy. You think it will work if I used the Choczero Hazelnut spreads in place of the melted choco chips?

I tried this today I added 16 drops of stevia and 1 tbsp of unsweetended peanut butter (with seasalt and Stevia) to the chocolate mix and 2 tablespoons of coconut milk to make it sweet and milky. To the eggwhite I added 6 drops of Stevia (I use 1:200 Stevia where 1 drop = 1 teaspoon) It turned out soooooooo good I'm shook It's spongey, slightly sweet, not bitter at all and light I could eat the whole thing Since I changed this recipe here are the nutrition values (the whole cake): Calories: 600 Fats: 60.2 Protein: 26.6 Carbs : 10

Make sure you are drinking enough water... especially with higher protein diets. It helps prevent stones, etc. when you are properly hydrated. God bless!
Just btw, using a spoon with a deep head like a soup spoon is a lot better for separating the yolks from the whites. Using the shells which tend to be jagged and sharp, makes it so easy to split the yolks which is not great if you want to create an egg foam or meringue with the whites. Any yolk at all will prevent the whites from aerating
I made this with dairy and soy free chocolate chips (brand: Enjoy life). I am not Keto, but I am dairy, soy, and gluten free. I finished it with cut up strawberries and it was amazing!

I made this flatbread & added some sesame seeds to the last 5 minutes of baking. It looked soooo good & was really easy peasy. Unfortunately I'm not a huge fan of cheese (didn't even try pizza till I was 25yo!) and this was wayyy too cheesy for me. It might have made a great pizza base except it wasn't rigid enough to pick up confidently. I'll have to keep searching for a good keto flatbread recipe though I'll doubt I'll find anything as easy as this. I might experiment with it further. Anyone else tried this recipe? How was it for you?

@@resamiller66 ok all the same, artificial sweeteners are bad for us. They cause inflammation unless we use natural sweeteners like Stevia or honey. Even white Stevia powder is just as bad as sugar.
@@thinkgood7412i agree but I think the key is to do this only on special occasions and just a small serving . I think the artificial ones dont raise blood sugar, but still raise insulin so not good on a regular basis.
I have to make this. It would be easy to dress up. Sift some powdered Swerve over the top and garnish with a few fresh raspberries or strawberries. Serve each slice with a dollop of whipped cream. Yum.

@@SummerBaby728 The bowl has to be grease free to get the egg whites to properly stiffen. It's harder to get a glass bowl completely grease free, and that is why it's always recommended to beat egg whites in a metal bowl. The vinegar will remove any traces of grease from a glass bowl.
I just made this. I saved some of the melted chocolate and put it in a small bowl and put a piece of the cake on top...so good! Also...I didn’t use sugar free because I didn’t have it 😬 it was delicious but definitely in moderation

It has a good consistency, doesn't taste eggy, but to my taste, I need more sweetness. I will make it again with Choczero milk chocolate chips once they are available to purchase again.

I make something similar and I use coconut cream as the "cream cheese" for the middle......you can also put that in muffin tins or something like that pour half the batter, then the cream then cover with the rest of the batter.. delish!
I make a version of this classic flourless chocolate cake. I add a shot or two of espresso. I think a bit of coffee flavor complements the chocolate flavor, yet it doesn’t make it taste like coffee at all. Chocolate ganache is a the best top dressing. Serve small portions. It’s very rich.

@@adrianwilson5950 you probably could! I use white chocolate chips with peppermint to make peppermint bark. Melt chocolate in microwave for 1 min till melted then add crushed up peppermint.. Spread in pan and refrigerate overnight.. So yummie. Love Myra.. Watch her daily

I made this last night. My husband loved it! I used the dark chocolate ChocZero chips. He only eats dark chocolate 85% or higher, so this was a hit with him! Personally, I prefer a bit more sweetness so next time I will use the milk chocolate ChocZero. Very good texture, and a wonderfully easy recipe! Thank you.
@@heatherroper2108 Good question. I decided to use a 1.5 quart round baking dish (Corningware brand), which is 8.5 inches wide. It is a deeper than a cake pan. The only cake pans I have are 11 inches across. I didn't want the cake to be too thin; I wanted it to have some depth. It worked well; however, I did have to add extra time to bake it through. I checked after 20 minutes, put a toothpick in it. It took between 35 and 40 minutes but my oven takes a bit longer for most things to bake. Hope this helps!
Made this today exactly as she did it and my chocolate seized once I beat in the yolks. I did my best to combine with the whipped whites and put it in the oven…hope it turns out 🤞🏻

Making a cake with just chocolate and eggs actually makes a lot of sense. And it's richer than a brownie probably even
Once it cools, it will turn more brownie like, but right out of the oven with some ice cream.. it is the best thing ever! I hope you give it a try!

It's not sugar free, the chocolate chips usually have sugar in them

I made this flatbread & added some sesame seeds to the last 5 minutes of baking. It looked soooo good & was really easy peasy. Unfortunately I'm not a huge fan of cheese (didn't even try pizza till I was 25yo!) and this was wayyy too cheesy for me. It might have made a great pizza base except it wasn't rigid enough to pick up confidently. I'll have to keep searching for a good keto flatbread recipe though I'll doubt I'll find anything as easy as this. I might experiment with it further. Anyone else tried this recipe? How was it for you?

Made this twice now and I put chopped walnuts in my batter and it was soooo good. I topped it off with a bit of sugar free whipped cream. YUMMY!

Where does the sweetness come from if you are using sugar free chocolate, after all it's a cake and expect it to be sweet!

@@resamiller66 ok all the same, artificial sweeteners are bad for us. They cause inflammation unless we use natural sweeteners like Stevia or honey. Even white Stevia powder is just as bad as sugar.
@@thinkgood7412i agree but I think the key is to do this only on special occasions and just a small serving . I think the artificial ones dont raise blood sugar, but still raise insulin so not good on a regular basis.

I have to make this. It would be easy to dress up. Sift some powdered Swerve over the top and garnish with a few fresh raspberries or strawberries. Serve each slice with a dollop of whipped cream. Yum.

My son and I just watched the video, then IMMEDIATELY made the cake. We added chopped walnuts, flaked unsweetened coconut and the remaining chocolate chips from the 2 cup bag. It was SPECTACULAR. I was more than a little skeptical 😙

I use a 1forth teaspoon of white vinegar and a paper towel and wipe the glass bowl Before beating the Room temperature Egg Whites Really Fluffy
What does wiping the bowl with vinegar do?
@@SummerBaby728 The bowl has to be grease free to get the egg whites to properly stiffen. It's harder to get a glass bowl completely grease free, and that is why it's always recommended to beat egg whites in a metal bowl. The vinegar will remove any traces of grease from a glass bowl.

I just made this. I saved some of the melted chocolate and put it in a small bowl and put a piece of the cake on top...so good! Also...I didn’t use sugar free because I didn’t have it 😬 it was delicious but definitely in moderation

It has a good consistency, doesn't taste eggy, but to my taste, I need more sweetness. I will make it again with Choczero milk chocolate chips once they are available to purchase again.

I make something similar and I use coconut cream as the "cream cheese" for the middle......you can also put that in muffin tins or something like that pour half the batter, then the cream then cover with the rest of the batter.. delish!

I make a version of this classic flourless chocolate cake. I add a shot or two of espresso. I think a bit of coffee flavor complements the chocolate flavor, yet it doesn’t make it taste like coffee at all.
Chocolate ganache is a the best top dressing. Serve small portions. It’s very rich.
It's more of a souffle of sorts, and the chocolate seized too 😶 top tip. Always fold in egg whites with a metal spoon!

I've, just started a low carb no sugar...I'm a little over a month in...lol ..just woke up wanting to eat better. I love it and the way my body and mind feels but, honey trying to find the foods is a bigger job for me. I, only eat twice a day .
Can you use unsweetened coco powder? I know you'd have to use sweetener. I tend to eat my chocolate chips and never have any when I need them for a recipe 🤦♀️🤷♀️😎
I would use cocoa powder, powdered sweetener and vanilla to mimic the chocolate chips.

Melt chocolate in microwave for 1 min till melted then add crushed up peppermint.. Spread in pan and refrigerate overnight.. So yummie.

I made this last night. My husband loved it! I used the dark chocolate ChocZero chips. He only eats dark chocolate 85% or higher, so this was a hit with him! Personally, I prefer a bit more sweetness so next time I will use the milk chocolate ChocZero. Very good texture, and a wonderfully easy recipe! Thank you.

What type of baking pan did you use? I'm wondering if this would still turn out in a round cake pan. I see she used a glass bowl for hers. Thank you.
@@heatherroper2108 Good question. I decided to use a 1.5 quart round baking dish (Corningware brand), which is 8.5 inches wide. It is a deeper than a cake pan. The only cake pans I have are 11 inches across. I didn't want the cake to be too thin; I wanted it to have some depth. It worked well; however, I did have to add extra time to bake it through. I checked after 20 minutes, put a toothpick in it. It took between 35 and 40 minutes but my oven takes a bit longer for most things to bake. Hope this helps!
