I don't interpret this song as one grieving over another I think it's simply someone who wants to connect with other people and not be left behind/alone, But is too different/withdrawn and feels worthless because of it, and they're just grieving for themselves.
Notice the footsteps in the beginning all go towards the left, while the one pair of footsteps at the end girlve to the right, because ya know, Symbolism for being different than the crowd or whatever
I'm gonna assume this has already been said, but I think the footsteps at the beginning are adding to the interpretation that this is about a girl grieving a loved one. You can hear normal shoes and then what sounds like flip flops, which implies somebody changed their shoes. Maybe it's a stretch but I was thinking about it like that depiction of suicide in Japanese culture as leaving your shoes behind as you step over the threshold into, well.. elsewhere.
I think it's moreso just a detail for the fact everyone in the beginning goes left, but at the end one person goes right, pretty much repeating what the song says about "Everyone is going left but this girl is grieving right"
