They look really nice. Great upgrade. I've been thinking of updating my mirrors since they are a bit long in the tooth but working just fine. Sometimes something new is nice to put on the old vanagon.
Did it. Ordered ours today. Took the jump. Just helped a buddy move a pop top onto a tin top. Pretty darn smooth too. That bus had the truck mirrors too lol

Ok, full update. Bought them from Bus Depot. Quick delivery. Good price. Super easy install. Little strange getting used to the convex mirror design. Kind of makes me a little dizzy as I back up. Also, I think you mentioned this and the stabilization needs work on this design. They rattle and vibrate pretty good. I haven’t even been on any rough roads yet. But it’s a solid upgrade from stock. I probably should have went truck style but for now I can see. Thanks again for your content!

On the fence between these and the truck mirrors. These are definitely cheaper and easier to install…I just need to jump!
I originally wanted the truck mirrors, just couldn't get myself to drill more holes in the door lol. I do like the truck mirror look though.
I’m not worried about the drilling, I’m most concerned about $300 for some plastic and metal poles…lol
Glad to see a light video every now and then when your tearing into something! ( Though those are my favorate!) The mirrors look nice, but you never took us on the highway! I never had a issue with my stock mirrors. Is ti there size, or the convex or the fold ability, or all the above? Or is it just the cool factor? Either way, I always enjoy seeing your vids! Thanks for all your effort in the production of them!
Thanks! Finally was able to do a video with the van drivable at the end lol! I was actually going to take the van on the highway yesterday to finish up the video… but the starter died and fried the wire going to the battery too. I guess I’ll be making that new starter video sooner than I thought. Decided to just end the video here. I have taken it on the highway with the mirrors though, and they are really good. My only real problem with the stock ones is that mine were in bad shape. These are a bit larger, farther away from the car, and convex, so they are a little better. The stock ones will do just fine if they are in good condition though.

Good choice. The truck mirror upgrade looks hideous. My stock electric 88 mirrors work fine except for the electric adjustment on one side but I don't use it as they can be manually adjusted and I painted them as well.

The worst thing about the original mirrors are their self adjusting feature unless they are stuck
I used bicycle carbon grease (it has grit in it) to keep mine in place for a long time. Did this upgrade 2 days ago and it's a life changer. Not only are they staying where I want them, but you also get a wider field of vision.
Those mirrors look awesome on your Vanagon. I’m looking into getting some for my bay, any idea if it’s possible to find an adapter to make the landy mirrors fit?
Thanks! I'm not sure about an adapter for a bay window. Anything is possible with the right machine shop I'm sure, but I haven't seen any available to buy.
Is the black backside of the mirror body plastic or metal? I love your videos!

The biggest criticism I've heard of this mod is freeway vibration. Has that been your experience?
Raven M. I haven’t had any problems with them. Of course I was used to the original ones that didn’t even stay adjusted passed 30mph. I’m sure they aren’t as stable as the truck mirrors since those are secured top and bottom, but these work pretty well. I’d say they are as, if not more, stable than a new set of original ones, but they do sometimes vibrate a little bit.
Nice video. I’ve been putting this upgrade off for a while. Is the view different on the passenger side. Meaning.. does it say. .. "objects in mirror are closer than they appear" ?
These mirrors do take some getting used to. You can see much wider, but yes, things are definitely closer than they appear. It doesn’t have that warning on the mirror though.
Ok thanks for the reply. My passenger mirror keeps moving. I’ve put up with for years. Definitely going to do this upgrade.
Great video!! Just wondering, can you pull the mirror in completely to the door when parked, so it is almost flush to the van? I´m in Austria and the streets are real narrow so when you park you want pull in the driver mirror in when it is real narrow. And if it is you can will it losen up after a while?

These mirrors don’t fold, or at least the ones I bought don’t. I’m not too sure if another company makes ones that do fold. It would be a nice feature to have though, especially in the city.

Knowing this now I wound hesitate to install these. I'm picturing getting them banged, bike rider, other vehicle or a fixed item such as a post or the mechanic lift. Just picturing the damage if they got a good wack, ouch. Those bolts getting ripped out if the channel and the door panel damage. 🤔😳

@@simonheath2868 Oh wow, I wonder if they are from the same company that made mine. The ones I got from Amazon said that they did not fold, but now I'm wondering if that listing wasn't right. I know they can be bent back and forth though... haven't tried pulling them in on purpose though lol.

Not sure if it's just my computer, but that link never worked for me. I messaged him through Facebook messenger when I got mine.
I ended up using a pair of the motorized vanagon mirrors without hooking up the wires. They seem to work great and they stay put. Not using the remote controls doesn’t seem to be a problem. Sorry for the late response. I’ve been busy on “Bones”.

Agreed, but with this van it's all about function over form.
The mirrors are $70/pair, meanwhile a simple bracket like that he wants $55???
