thought the same thing. just use the "fan-brush-sprinkle-i-think-i-have-to-buy-the-studio"-technique he uses in some snowy pictures xD he teaches us everything we need. just need to put it on the canvas... xD
I agree, I actually really enjoy a lot of the "starts" of his paintings. Some are quite dream-like. At least once, maybe twice, he's looked at the painting he's started and said something like, "this would sell as modern art" or something funny.
O really do respect that because they are or were great looking dress shirts. R.I.P. Bob Ross, I hope that you're still creating happy little things up there!
During a period of time where I was in a very dark place and would be up until 3 to 4 in the morning I couldn’t find anything to help me sleep. I remember my sister talking about how soothing Bob Ross was. In a desperate attempt to fall asleep I put on his first episode and by the second video I had fallen asleep. Every night I would watch his videos to help me sleep. I’m so thankful for these videos because 3 years later I still like to watch and listen before bed. His voice and paintings bring me so much peace and comfort. I truly tear up because without these videos I would’ve been lost in self hatred and terrible thoughts. So very grateful
I watch his videos before I get out of bed several mornings each week. Gets me off to a positive start, before I need to face an increasingly-negative world... 😺💕🐾
Hard to believe he was a drill sergeant. *Whispers* Now listen hear, maggot. What you'll wanna do is start with 100 pushups, I usually do 200 but 100 is okay to start with, and you'll wanna start out slow until you get into a rhythm.

This was my first Bob Ross video in over a year, ever since I got out of an abusive situation where we used to always watch Bob Ross together, I worried it would bring back bad memories but instead I feel freed. I’ve been drawing digital art alongside this video and I am inspired, calmed and liberated. I’ve loved Bob Ross since I was a tiny kid and I’m so glad I can watch it again without having bad feelings surface. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I can still remember the first time I watched the joy of painting. I remember my mom was going out to run some errands, and I was at home. I decided to watch some tv. I turn on PBS, and the joy of painting comes on. I had heard of it before, but I never watched it. After the show was over, I was completely taken away. I immediately got on my iPad, went onto TH-cam, and looked up the joy of painting. From that moment, I was hooked on it. I still would love to learn how to paint the way Bob does. Its just amazing as to what you can do with some imagination, some paint, and a canvas.
With how vibrant the leaves and reflections are, contrasting with the twilit sky, it looks like a magic forest, because there is a lot of magic to be found in nature
I used to think it was incredible he would do an entire painting in half an hour, but really that's because he got better at timing his paintings for the full episode. These early shows, he's still getting a feel for the TV format. At 21:36, he's *done* with this painting, I couldn't believe it. He has to fill in the rest of the time with talk, and then adds a tree stump and a waterline and scrapes in sticks and twigs as filler. I cannot believe the speed!
Just remember that he does a version of the painting beforehand, so he isn't making any creative decisions and knows how it's going to go. Still very impressive.
I didn't see when the video just started all i heard right before i started watching was "today i thought i would do something crazy, in one of those funny little moods" i thought he was shirtleess! 😂😂
I cannot wait to see Bob paint the "window" picture. I can't remember what season that is in, though. I think I have a while to wait. Doesn't matter though. All of Bob's paintings are inspiring and help me relax at night. I even took two painting classes taught by a Bob Ross instructor. I'm very glad I did.
It's 4th of july today and it's also the day that Bob passed away ;w; I'm watching his series to calm my nerves since school and world events and my inner demons cause me stress and anxiety. Also it gets my mind of my mom a bit, I worry too much since she's batting cancer again sadly but I can't help but worry so.........Bob Ross, paint me to a place where there's happy little trees. 💔
"Follow the lay of the land-I know you're tired of hearing me say that-" Bob I would listen to you saying that for 10 hours straight if we could have you back.
This is only season 2, when the younger Bob Ross was still in the process of learning how to control and focus his awesome superpowers. When discovered and subsequently taken in by Professor Charles Xavier shortly after this video, he became one of the X-Men, with the code name "BOSS", and taught painting classes to enthralled mutants, further honing their already considerable abilities and also fully participating as part of the team in the takedown of numerous supervillains, whom he invariably referred to as Happy Little Accidents.

When he started, it looked like a nebula in space. This wet on wet technique would be great for space/sci-fi paintings.

I love how excited he gets yet he stays modest. Like he always says that it's the paint or the canvas that does something. He never takes credit
Every episode never gets paint on his shirt he a beast. Rip bob

I spent the entire episode staring at the sky and clouds in the background. Those were probably the best part. Blended so perfectly and beautifully.

Charlie Wilkinson This season, he didn’t do that.
Yeah he did. He had reference paintings for each episode. Sometimes you can see him glancing at it.
