I had to laugh when you said “I could listen to this music all day long”. I was lucky enough to be the right age when this is the type of music that was played all day long.
I call the great Garry Puckett (The Voice). He had one of the greatest voices of the 60's & 70's in all of Rock & Roll. The Union Gaps other great hits that show off his great voice is 1. Women Woman (1968) 2. This Girl Is A Woman Now (1969). 3. Young Girl (1968). 4. Over You (1968). 5.Lady Willpower (1968).6. Home (1970). I hope you react to these hits by Gary Puckett and the Union Gap. Love your reaction to the greatest decades in Rock & Roll history. Awesome!
Gary Puckett was a physically small guy, but his voice was soo powerful! I thought he must have been huge until i saw them in concert in 1969! I flipped out!! Love these guys so much! ❤
Actually one of my favorite groups from the late 60s. Gary had a great voice. This, Young Girl and Woman Woman are three of my favorite songs ever. Ed Sullivan Show had only live performances. For me 68, 69 and 1970 were the greatest yrs for music. You both need to check out a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band the Rascals from that time Many very good timeless songs. Groovin, Good Lovin, A Beautiful Morning and more.
I agree! I was only a kid when I heard my mom's records of this group, but they quickly became one of my favorites. In addition to their songs you mentioned, I would also strongly recommend, "This Girl is a Woman Now," "Over You," and "This Girl is a Woman Now." Tremendous group and I'm a little surprised they weren't far more popular.
Never has there been a band whose lead singer's voice fit the songs so perfectly. Gary Puckett's voice projected such longing and angst that fit the lyrics perfectly.
As a man who grew up in the 60's I became at a young age a huge fan of Gary Puckett and The Union Gap. My family were musicians and naturally I had a wide range of great artists and groups to choose from but there was something special with Gary Puckett his voice so clear and powerful drew me to follow them throughout my life and having seen the 3 times in concert when they toured Australia where they sounded just as good live as on the records. My all time favourite which I highly recommend is "HOME" simply a beautiful timeless song that is as relevant today as when it was released. P.S.I have been a viewer for a very long time but now am a subscriber due to my love of your honest heartfelt reactions which to me means a lot from one lover of music to 2 others..keep that love and passion going it can change lives... Keep Safe Keep Strong 🦘🦘🦘🦘❤❤❤❤🎵🎵🎶🎶🎵🎵
I remember being a 10 or 12 year old kid when this song came out in the late 1960s. One year during that period Gary Puckett and the Union Gap appeared during our week long "Buffalo Days" (like an American state fair) in my small Canadian prairie city of Regina and IIRC my oldest sister was taken to the show by a young beau that she liked. Anyway, I remember clear as day sitting at the kitchen table with the window wide open and hearing this band from the exhibition grounds just three blocks away. It was dark out because it was night and right after the concert they always had a fireworks display to end the night's festivities. What a wonderful time the 1960s and 70s were with such incredible music! We had such incredibly great music then, unlike what is passed off as such today. Sigh ... 🤷🎸🎸🎸😉💖💖💖
Yes I agree with you Gary Puckett and the Union Gap was sooooooooo popular I was just a little girl and had older siblings so we knew this song very very well and LOVED it !!!❤
Please keep going down the Gary Puckett and the union gap Rabbit hole, they are one of my favorite bands of the 60's young girl, woman, let's give Adam and Eve another chance, are all great tunes🎸🇺🇸
Haha! This is the US tv version where they had to change the line "teach you the facts of life" to teach you the way of life" to appease US tv sensibilities at the time.
I grew up in Oklahoma (USA) and was 13 when this song came out. Gary Puckett's voice was SO phenomenal!! He was my all time favorite singer. Ten years ago he did a show here and my son took me to see it. At the intermission I actually got to meet and speak with Gary Puckett for about 5 minutes. He still sounds great and he is a very kind, gracious man.
60's was my childhood in Detroit, mostly Motown but I do remember this song l loved it! Now I live in San Diego were this Band is from, another group from the 60's in San Diego, Ca. Iron butterfly 🦋 check them out, their song "Inagodadavida" Psychedelics at it's best!😮 Peace✌️ and Love❤️ your 70 year old forever hippie Gary😊 great reaction 🤣 Andre my greatest memories of the 60's and 70's is the Music 🎶 ❤ Ed Sullivan every Sunday night 😅
Same here Gary! I grew up just up the road in South Lyon, MI in the 60s. I'm a few younger than you, but I cut my teeth on the songs you listed plus many others from that era. What a great time to be alive right? I feel blessed to have caught the 60s & 70s music as it was happening. It's also fun watching reactions from wonderful folks like Andre and Dominica viewing those great songs for the first time. I'd like to request they watch some Temptations or maybe Tommy James & the Shondells. Peace out and all the best.
Oh you guys would've absolutely loved being alive in the 60's and 70's (musically speaking ).....I'm 70 now and I feel soooooooooo lucky to be a teen back then. It shaped my LIFE
As a kid growing up in the sixties and seventies I listened to Gary Puckett and the Union Gap “endlessly”. They substituted the word “facts” of life with “way” of life in this performance. The Ed Sullivan show on occasion asked the acts to change their lyrics. You have to react to their song Over You next.
Another great reaction by the 2 of you to a Classic rock song, "Lady Willpower". Andre, you said you could listen to this music (60s) all day. We'll, I was born in 1953 and have 2 sisters born '52 + '54. From the Beatles arrival on we all got interested in what our father would call 'that noise' and listen to AM radio, no FM till late :60s. So yes Andre we all transistor radios and would listen to radio to hear newest songs by a bevy of artists, changing constantly. My older sis was a big Gary Puckett + Union Gap fan. She+ her husband have seen them on "Oldies" tour. Anyway I never listen to AM for music but it was great to listen to and get excited about music as a teenager in the ,'60s on AM radio. Pop music was happier, wholesome + just better when I grew up. Try "Come on Down to My Boat" by Every Mother's Son. Good example.
Gary is great! There is a trilogy of songs though they weren't meant to be that were huge in the 60's about a young girl tricking an older guy, "Young Girl" then she does the deed "This Girl Is a Woman Now" and finally dumbs him "Woman, Woman"
I am 65 now and at the age of about 8 or 9 my folks bought me a K-Tel Greatest Hits album that had this song on it, I played it over and over. Yes there was some great music back then for sure. Love your reactions, they bring me back some wonderful memories, thanks. Have a wonderful day.
Ed Sullivan show had many new up and coming musicians and singers...Gary Puckett and the Union Gap was well received for many years after he was showcased...one of my favorite bands growing up..as I'm 71 now..that as a long time ago 😁... One singer in particular was to go on to be Knighted by Queen Elizabeth.. Sir Tom Jones...a Welsh singer with a powerful voice.. I personally prefer his crooner style so I'll recommend these 3...the 1st is from the Ed Sullivan show..the second 2 I believe are from his own variety show 'This Is Tom Jones'..and you should listen to them in this order to have a story unfold... 💥... I'll Never Fall In Love Again 💥...I Who Have Nothing 💥... Delilah Tom was so successful that there were many writers submitting their work to him thereby creating a mix of genre in his catalog... I'll be watching to see if you select his work to react to...best of luck with your channel... 🌿🌿🌿
I was 12 when this came out and this song throws me back into the sixties more than most. Union Gap is in Washington State where I call home, wearing Civil War confederate uniforms as their schtick, Washington State is about as far from any battlefield as you can get, but hey, it worked for them. As always, thanks for sharing this with us.
Gary Puckett lived in the Yakima, Washington area when he was younger and the smaller town of Union Gap, Washington is near it, and that is where the name came from.
Once again, the Los Angeles session musicians "The Wrecking Crew" are the ones on their recordings.....that's why a lot of groups back then sound so good.
lol I notice that Sullivan made him change a word in the lyrics, before letting him sing it. In the original recording the first line of the second verse is "Did no one ever tell you the 'facts' of life..." but on this show he sings "Did no one ever tell you the 'ways' of life..." That makes me laugh, because "the facts of life" in that time was a euphemism for knowledge of sex, and I'm sure that Ed and his producers didn't want such a well-known euphemism for sex to be sung out loud on his show. 🙃
Also listen to the band The Grass Roots, great songs too. Love the song "Temptation Eyes" by them. This band and Gary Puckett and the Union Gap band always remind me of each other!
The Cowsills.. Hair.......its a song from the musical Hair, which you have listened to some of the songs aĺready.. 5th Dimension, Aquarius.. Let the Sunshine In
I think you'd like their song "Over You," its my favorite, and its what inspired me to learn piano. (It isnt specifically a piano song, but is beautiful on piano.) Loved your reaction, as always.
He had to change the lyrics for the Ed Sullivan show, from ' did no one ever tell you the facts of life (sex)' to 'did no one ever tell you the way of life' . Ed Sullivan was very conservative and artists on his show were told to omit lyrics regarding sex or drugs from songs they performing or change them. Sometimes they didn't as with the case of The Doors, Jim Morrison still said 'couldn't get much higher ' during Light my fire
When hair got longer guys started dressing from the past. A number of 60 bands are dressed in early American military uniforms or something that resembles them. They dressed in Civil War uniforms. You had the Union and the Confederates.
I grew up listening to all the classic music from the 60's - 70's. Gary Puckett & The Union Gap had a lot of great songs such as "Young Girl", "Woman, Woman", "Over You", "Don't Give In To Him, "This Girl Is A Woman Now", "Let's Give Adam & Eve Another Chance" etc. This music brings back good memories for me.
Ed Sullivan also made them change lyrics in Young Girl. I'm 68 and remember when those songs came out they were pretty racy but now seem so tame. I played them for my 30 and 32 year old kids and they were really surprised that they got away with those lyrics "way back then"!
Just discovered the channel, glad you both enjoyed the song! And i agree music today is just so overdone, too much technology. Back then the style was simple and musicians and singers just went on stage and performed with natural talent
In my humble opinion Gary Puckett and the Union Gap’s song Home is the saddest song I ever heard. It’s about young men (just boys) going to fight for our country. Hardly anyone knows this song.
The reason the older music is more enjoyable is this - it was not culturally acceptable in the day to write songs with a dark tone - they all had to be uplifting, even sad songs. We should bring this principle back. All music should touch the soul.
I had to laugh when you said “I could listen to this music all day long”. I was lucky enough to be the right age when this is the type of music that was played all day long.
same here...67
The 60s, 70s, and 80s are the golden age of music never to be repeated again.
At 71 I lived through this music and yes Andre, it was magical.
80's was the end of competitive bands. The 50's, 60's, 70's was the BEST music ever!
Gary Puckett had an amazing voice ❤
Didn't he, though!
Great Group!! They had a lot of big hits from 67 to 70. Gary Puckett had an amazing unique voice. ❤❤
Your soul's belong to the 60s & 70s as far as the music is concerned😊 I was blessed being raised with this music
Me too! 76 years old here! 😊❤
Agreed 👍💚
Gary Pucketts voice is so magnificrnt.❤ Talk about a teenage crush. I was head over heels.😂
Very true,to me his vocals were awesome and sadly underappreciated crystal clear powerful and beautiful to listen to..❤❤❤❤
Easily one of the greatest voices on the planet!
Kelly you said it all ..he simply had a beautiful crystal clear awesome voice..love his vocals to today..HOME is my all time favourite of theirs. ❤❤❤❤
as well as relatively unknown and highly underrated voice.
Great group. Gary Pucket, wonderful voice. The Sixties---- GREAT music.

I happen to agree 1000% with this and other than myself, i dont think i ever heard this particaular era being named but youre right.
Gary Puckett has to be the most under rated singer of all time. I love his voice, great stuff. I can’t sing a lick, I’m so jealous!
Gary Puckett was one of my all-time best singers of the 60's I love when he performs "This Girl Is A Woman Now" is FIRE!!!!
Great reaction, please do more of this band.
Singing along 😊 great song and reaction! Thanks and keep going
This song came out when we had a band in our early teens. We played it parties for our class mates.. Great memories! Thanks for the reaction video!
Love listening to Gary Puckett and the Union Gap. Thank you for listening

They have so many great songs, one of my favorites of the 60s
LOL !!! Amen to all you said..This is my era..And it is the best..I love Gary Puckett !!
They are STILL touring. Saw them last year. Not quite hitting the high notes, but still great time!❤
I just cant ever go see an old aging favorite band of mine(with the numerous replacement/subs)..CANT,WON'T dunno why

again, taking me back in the day!!! Much appreciated 🤗❤❤✌️
Absolutely!
This music takes you Away...so lovely and contributed to what's undeniably Beautiful ...
The melodies are SO strong......I was 8 years old and loved this.
Young Girl
Haha! This is the US tv version where they had to change the line "teach you the facts of life" to teach you the way of life" to appease US tv sensibilities at the time.
Ok, I'm not the only one that noticed ... thank you!
Thank you for letting us know 🙂
This song was actually part 2 the song Young Girl was the first it was also a massive hit for them!
this dude had a hell of a voice.
The best voice in pop music. So many great songs.

A great group from the 60s. I liked Paul Revere and the Raiders outfits. Silly, but "far out" too. ☮💛🎶

The band was from Union Gap, Washington. They took the “Union” part and wore uniforms based on the Union Army uniforms from the American Civil War.
Gary Puckett lived in the Yakima, Washington area when he was younger and the smaller town of Union Gap, Washington is near it, and that is where the name came from.
And he was born in Hibbing Minnesota, where Bob Dillon grew up.
Young Girl and Over You are his earliest hits from 1968. I remember at the time as a 10 year old kid and having never seen him thinking he was black.
These guys have a number of hits and there were a number of similar groups at that time...
You just stumbled on one of the most powerful voices of the 60's!
Once again, the Los Angeles session musicians "The Wrecking Crew" are the ones on their recordings.....that's why a lot of groups back then sound so good.
He is such a tasty vocalist! Still appearing, recently heard in Laughlin Nevada.
lol I notice that Sullivan made him change a word in the lyrics, before letting him sing it. When a band made the Ed Sullivan Show, it was as if they had finally made it! Also, the ESS had rules that had to be agreed to!
Thank you 😊
Next up: Over You. A sixties classic that showcases his vocal talent backed by a great arrangement.
The uniform or matching suits look was a product of the label or record company......back in the day....
Thanks for explaining 👍🙂
Woman woman, This girl is a woman now, Young girl... all great songs
Its too short. I wanted to listen to more. ❤. His voice is very nice.
Originally from the small Eastern Washington town of Union Gap. Population today, about 6,000.
You have to hear if that day would come so good
Brilliant observations have a look at Young Girl by the same band thank you.
Try there other songs ( Kiss me Goodbye / Woman Woman /Over You / Young Girl / This Girl is a Woman Now )
You got the last name right!
Your glass frames color match Gary's coat!!!!
Oh yeah 👍💚
We wore Groovy clothes back Then. 😊✌

young girl by gary puckett will shock you but a good song !
If you guys weren't around during the 60s - 70s,I'm sorry, you missed some amazing times/music, but it's great that you can catch up via TH-cam etc.
Listen to Al Green. Love and Happiness
You are so right. Now the music is not even close to what it was back then.
Yes we did 😊listen to woman, woman. This girl is a woman now. Young girl
Just discovered the channel, glad you both enjoyed the song! And i agree music today is just so overdone, too much technology. Back then the style was simple and musicians and singers just went on stage and performed with natural talent
More Gary Puckett & the Union Gap, please! (FYI...it's pronounced Puh-ket)
In my humble opinion Gary Puckett and the Union Gap’s song Home is the saddest song I ever heard. It’s about young men (just boys) going to fight for our country. Hardly anyone knows this song.
You should try Young girl and Woman Woman
ABSOLUTELY!!!!!

Who's Leslie? :)
PUCK like hockey PUCK, IT
Young Girl is a little shady. How many girls did this song work on? Not me. 74 years old and know about these guys!!Ha ha
Like the classics can you please play David Lee Roth California girls official video thank you
Try my favourite American singer R DeanTaylor
So many older songs have the flaw. THEY ARE TOO SHORT!!!
Though this tune is good their song Over You is overall better.
Young Girl would have been a better choice.
Those were awful suits.
superbishness.
i loooved these guys since i first heard them at age 10
agreed 100%
