We were accepted into their cuture and allowed to approach them. We asked what they might do if the new movie happened to... you know, suck. One of 2001's Top 25 live-action films on Atom Films. I love this documentary my cousin was in line in New York seeing episode 1 the phantom menace in his early 20s and then saw it in Los Angeles I was jealous because we had to wait to see it in Australia so many memories and great hype it had and memories seeing it with my father as a 10 year old in 1999
I was 5 when this movie came out and I loved it. Today, I can see the imperfections and why people hate it but I refuse to let that keep my childhood memories from being tainted. It was one of my most fondly remembered childhood experiences, and I don't want constant comments and an hour-long review making me feel angry at the internet in objection.
Please stop hopping on people's positive comments & saying "YOU'RE IN DENIAL STOP LIKING IT" in sarcastic tones just because you don't agree.
I was kind of the same. I saw the originals first, but the prequels came out when I was young and I loved them. Then I jumped on the prequel hate bandwagon. Right before the sequels came out I fell in love with the prequels again.

@@theunknowncommenter725, not even close. I was 16 and worked at my local theatre when Phantom Menace premiered. I actually screened it twice before it's midnight release 24 years ago today. I'm also an avid moviegoer. I can honestly tell you I have never again seen the sheer hype and enthusiasm for a movie like I did with Phantom Menace. Ever!

I remember seeing this on AtomsFilms when I was young and incapable of understanding the prequel hate. I remember when Ep1 came out, but while my memories faded, my fondness for the movie remains. And it's happy to see how people felt the same, even if things might've changed after the showings.
It was the experience of the release period where people released all their passion, all their love for this series, that makes it so lovely to look back on for me, no matter the quality of the movie.

Our generations ANH! We lived this, I know I did! I loved Episode 1 and I loved the PT even more than the OT and now this new ST has its own generation but WE OS fans (Original Saga by George Lucas) are the ones who love and appreciate the official and now ORIGINAL Star Wars Saga for what it is and what Lucas artistically INTENDED it to always be! Long Live the OS by George Lucas! and FYI Lucas received 2 of his 4 Billion from the Lucasfilm sale in Disney stock shares! So he is STILL one of the biggest stock holders in Disney and had a firm say over the ST and will be in the end credits of Episode 7! So Suck on that haters! :) Lucas and his true fans really did get their revenge in the end!

I was 4 years old in 1999 when Phantom Menace premiered, though I didn't see the film or know about it until years later. And I can understand why so many fans felt let down by it. Everyone wanted to have an amazing experience with Episode 1, comparable to A New Hope in 1977.
But I think the main problem is, aside from George Lucas not recognizing the film's flaws, is because of how hyped it was. Back then when there was no TH-cam and the internet was in its early stages, people got the impression of how good the film would supposedly be. Because there hadn't been a SW film in 16 years since Episode 6, a mere mention of a new SW film was all it took to get fans everywhere excited.

@@darealpapajon lmao, this was 7 years ago and I have a very different views than I did then. I’ve actually come around on the prequels and appreciate them for the world building, story, and giving us The Clone Wars. They aren’t great movies but still have a lot of redeeming qualities. On the sequels: I like TFA (it’s fine, it works great as long as the rest of the trilogy pays off), I absolutely love TLJ, and absolutely hate TRoS. Worst Star Wars movie. I can not express how deeply I abhor the nonsensical, creative bankruptcy that is The Rise of Skywalker. The prequels weren’t great but at least they didn’t completely undermine the entire saga and make everything that came before seem pointless.
