This is such a great lesson. I seriously appreciate the format, your expositions of the underlying theory concepts, and the in-context playing of each lick! Really outstanding stuff. Subscribed!
Would be great if you can make a video also on John Mayer's right hand technique. There's a lot of punch, micro percussion, strong accents, fast switching between using the fingers or the pick and sometimes just going nuts with notes alongside muted strings. I think we're missing a lot of Mayer's true tone if we're only looking at the left hand. Also, can you tell us more about the gear you are using in this video? We don't wanna miss the recipe for a great tone :). Best regards.
Great job ! is it only the MK Strat neck or body too ? Regarding the sound you get when playing with fingers, I assume that are the original Texas Specials :) First time I see it looking relic like that (mine is still mint and I'm dying when I do a scratch on it !). Thanks again.
How do you practice the second lick with a metronome? Im really confused on how to use a metronome when not playing steady notes. When I turn on a metronome and try to play the lick the click just makes no sense and im not sure how to match up to it with this...
@@ferramirez4570 yeah agreed, but he says it's a john mayer track and is based on Jimi Hendrix lmfao! It's a jimi Hendrix track and it's based on Jimi Hendrix, period.
Still not seeing why people consider him a "talented" guitarist. If you can't play pentatonic solos like that you just suck and haven't practiced. Let's find a ford focus and clap around it. Good video though
1) 1:01 Gravity inspired
2) 2:34 Rhythm guitar
3) 4:28 bending and tapping
4) 6:34 Pentatonic
5) 7:38 Jumping octaves
6) 9:07 Blues bends
7) 10:20 Pentatonic bends
8) 12:05 SRV/Albert King inspired
9) 13:40 I don’t need no doctor
10) 15:27 Embellishing chords
Thanks a lot, I like your profile pic!

Perfect lesson
Very good job. you go into the WHY you do this and that here and there rather than just presenting something to copy or mimic.
10:20 has definitely some Hendrix style inspiration there, so pretty.
High praise! 🙏🏻
Not enough tab AND notation vids on TH-cam. Good shit too
Great video. May be add some time markers?
I’d love to know your signal chain. Tone is killer. Any pedals? What amp?
just learn the riff
Can you post up a lot more Jimi, SRV, Rory Gallagher, Allman Bros. How about some Michael Burks and Alvin Jett?
This was useful. Nice one 👍 Love the tone and feel of the player. 🎸🎶
Great demo. You did an excellent job.
Awesome mate. from Australia
Thank you! Cheers!

Thanks! That's Jake Curran
Listened to 100 John Mayer songs now, but did not find lick 3. Can you name the song that inspired the lick 3 bending and tapping?
He names it in the video
Its John Mayer song I Guess I Just Feel like

Man "bold as love" is a jimi hnderix's track
Thank you for clarifying that, Pretty sure him an experience player and us 99% of the audience who also play guitar didn't know that fact.
