Ms Petrilli, I am currently teaching an adult student how to play some of the songs that you teach in your tutorials. I teach mostly beginner and intermediate lessons, and when teaching an advanced lesson, I much prefer your teaching methods, and I emulate them more than any other teacher. Thank you for your wonderfully designed guitar lessons. I love how you break the songs down into sections or passages. Your patience is unending in how you play a passage over and over to help the learner get it down pat . You are simply THE BEST!!
@@roberta.6399d string slightly flat distracting no criticism I loved this tutorial and your style helped me nail this song beyond the way I was playing it b4. I'm a fan now thank you thank you. Don
OK my name is Tim i’m 60 time flies. sitting in my 68 VW wagon van camper in Ocean City NJ !playing my daughters guitar that I bought for her probably 10 years ago that she never played and had 6 inches of dust on it LOL started messing around with it about two years ago GCD and a couple other cords! But now i’ve got an iPhone and entered a new world and found you and can play Melissa and I can’t stop playing it so now I’m moving on to she talks to Angels I want to thank you so much you are such an easy teacher to follow!! So my dream guitar at this point is anyone I can play LOL thanks for all your good work!
You are awesome. I just took up guitar at 62 so I could keep my brain tuned up. I've had good days and frustrating days but the best day I've had so far was when I found you. You are a great teacher.
I've been playing since I was a kid. A couple years ago my high blood pressure caused my Aorta to rupture. I died, but they brought me back. After the stroke I didn't remember any songs, but I remember some chords. Your TH-cam channel is awesome. Now I can play a few songs as I learn them from you. My current favorite is a Martin D25. I've owned Applause, Ovation, Guild, Gibson, Fender, Epiphone, DeArmond, Harmony etc.over the years. I have a couple Jazz boxes made by Johnson which are incredible. Their tone is remarkable. They even sound better than my DeArmond (Guild) X155. Thanks for this channel. It really helps folks like me who are learning over again or are new.
From Jersey! Started playing guitar late in life at age 57 I'm 61 now it started out as a hobby and turn into an obsession I've seen you at norms for years I'm glad you finally got the opportunity to do something like this love your videos you are a natural teacher you have a gift that you love to share with others a passion and it shows I really enjoyed all the open tunings you've been doing lately I hope you keep doing these videos for a while I can't wait to see what's coming every week you're the best thank you
You are REALLY good at teaching. I started playing guitar in 4th grade. Classical guitar. Mom made me. Then I stopped in my teens. Picked it up again recently and realize how much I have missed it. I stumbled upon your lessons and LOVE your instruction. You are VERY good.
Been playing this song for years... It's SOOOOOO nice to see someone else doing it right... This popped up and I clicked to see how you would play it and your absolutely captivating the way you teach with such in-depth detail.... And one of the things I love the most is your facial expressions.... You absolutely LOVE doing this... It's easy to see that your favorite riff is the walk down in the intro love how you just smile every time you play that and you glow. I'll be checking out some of your other videos as you have several songs in there that I play myself it's going to be nice to play along with you up on the wall and through the sound system. Thank you for being there 🙏
I really feel blessed to have “found you”. I am maybe advanced for your lessons. But you kill it for me again and again. I just want to devour all of your lessons. You are special. Thank you for being you. Every video of yours that I see, I want to devote an hour a day to. (I practice about 2-4 hours a day). Sometimes 6 or 7. I am crazy. I appreciate you so much.
This lady is such a very talented musician. The way she explains how a song is played is very helpful. She breaks it down so everyone can learn it! Thank you so much Angela!
As a total guitar newb, I've watched a number of videos on how to play this song, and your instruction has been salient in breaking down some of the more subtle notes, as well as the nuances of how to time them properly. That probably doesn't make sense to someone who can read music, has the chords memorized, etc. but for someone who *tries* to play music by ear, it really helps to have more in depth instruction. Thank you for NOT half-assing this tutorial. Very much appreciated
Thank you so much or the lessons, Angela, Your teaching style is so effective. The repetition that you walk through with the participants is the critical piece me. I think most teachers expect the audience to pause and practice on their own until each is able to keep up. While that approach works, your method is so much more engaging and enables me to get the song "under my fingers" so to speak. I still pause and replay portions, but I'm far less likely to be distracted and/or discouraged because you're guiding me through the song at progressively faster tempos. THANK YOU!!
I’m in the hospital recovering from Covid. My guitar is at home, I love your lessons and how you layer it with technique and theory. I’m practicing with you mentally and I expect that I am growing by leaps and bounds. I truly believe that I’ll be awesome when I get back home. Thanks for the lessons.
This is such a great lesson. Thank you for taking the time to do this, Angela. The way you slowly add each step, building on the progress of the lesson, and with a lot of repetition, really works well for me. You are a great teacher and your enthusiasm is great to listen to.
I used my Roadie 3 and tuned my Takamine G series 12 string and it sounds so cool!! The transition from my 6 string to the 12 string was not even a problem! Thank you for being you! You are my number I teacher!
I'm sitting on the couch and noodling and was checking some tabs out and you popped up on my screen. You are a great teacher. I can relate to your teaching style. Never boring. You are my new go-to. Thanks so much!!
If Angela had been on TH-cam when I was in high school (1987) I can’t imagine how much better player I would be. There are so many great teacher online but none as easy to follow. If you’re a beginner and you don’t like the songs she chooses to teach, learn them any way. If you were paying for lessons you’d pay a fortune for what she gives for free. I love the way she takes an hour to teach the whole song and doesn’t skip the harder parts. Finally, if you’re not familiar with her and wonder if she can truly play… look up her video of her playing “ Gold Dust Woman” at Norms rare guitars. After you see her play it, find the best guitarist you know and ask him/her to play it for you. Then you’ll see how good she really is!
Dream acoustic guitar : 92 ef361ec , I've had for 10 yrs. Playing for 48 yrs . Love this song, not many others in open E . So I wrote some of my own. Takamine.
I have a Martin D-15 M w/LR Baggs Soundhole pickup going through a Fishman Loud-box Mini. Been playing that for about 5 yrs. Even though I have been playing for quite a few years I’m still willing to learn something new or different. Never did much with alternate tuning but I’m willing to start, thank you for the intro. I was very sick with Covid for awhile in 11/21 and I forgot a lot if not most of everything I used to play in my band, Mid Life Crisis. So thank you for helping me out of my slump. Two members of my band have passed then I got sick and put everything away, I’ve been picking my Fender strat and Martin back up again so thank you again. Btw I’m Larry Jenkins for Detroit, MI.
Heard this for the 1st time whilst out and about so I had to investigate it . Listened to your lesson at work everyday and took a small portion and learned the physical side at home . Thanks for your skill and teaching 😁
Your content is out of this world. For someone who plays this style and has a 50 song set. I want it to be a 75 song set. You are going to get me there. Thank you. 🙏🏼
Your tutorials are really great! I’m a professional vocalist fronting bands all my life. I always loved guitar and decided it was time to learn at age 65. I threw myself into it wholeheartedly and I’ve been practicing every single day for four years now. She talks to Angels was always one of my favorite vocals, Because there weren’t many local singers who could sing it right lol OL lol OL. I learned Melissa from you which was one I used to sing all the time when I was the vocalist in an Allman Brothers project for 10 years.Again kudos really love your tutorials your teaching is great and very easy to follow
I love the song and love how she teaches it. The only thing that I can say is that she has one note wrong. When strumming back and forth between open E and G1:D2, try open E and G1:A2. I feel like it sounds a lot closer to what's actually on the original track
Angela, thanks a ton for your teaching methodology. I played a little about 40 years ago in a 3 piece acoustic band. It was fun and hilarious at the same time. I would announce the next song for instance as "this is a song written by Mr Jackson, recorded by the Eagles and butchered by Duncan and Company (our band). I've recently thought what the hell, why not start it up again and actually play stuff correctly. I've looked at other artists and have found your technique the best, even for a 65 year old to relearn and go beyond the standard C,G,D,A,E stuff I fooled myself into believing I was good at. Thank you so much for rekindling a long lost passion. Love ya!
Miss Petrilli , luv ur lessons very inspirational im learning a bunch of cool songs. Right on Sister U have made a huge difference in my playing , luv ur work , keep it up !!! Papa Rog Denver Colorado !!!
Im in awe every time I see you ❤you’re the best sweetheart keep up being you. Putting music in the hearts that really want to play. I wish the whole world would learn and play together in harmony instead of fuzzing and fighting about nothing instead of the world coming together and helping each other’s 😊
Angela thank you much for taking you time to share your craft with us. This is one of my favorites, brings back my college days of good music. Also it's much easier to play this in open E and to me you are so right it does sound better in open E 😊👍🏽🙏🏽
My husband is learning this and it is so beautiful. I play piano and I want to learn guitar next. From London Ontario Canada with acoustic Taylor guitar. Love how you teach.
I just wanted to say thank you.. I have taken so many video guitar lessons and by far you are the best.. You are very good at explaining In detail.. Thank you you are appreciated.
I am so pleased to be watching your videos I'm learning so much Jeff burchfield from Indianapolis my dream acoustic guitar is Martin thanks again Angela
You are so awesome. In my humble opinion, I think once you have told us students that you are calling the strings as we normally identify them even though we are now in an open tuning, just leave at that and on with the lesson. 👏👏👏👏 Thank you so much. I have learn so much from you. 😎👍🤟
Great stuff. One of the best songs of the 90's. Your teaching style is easy to follow, especially the play it slow until you can play it fast tip. I've been playing a long time, self taught, it's great to see your videos with a few tricks that help any picker of any generation. Keep them coming.
Thank you for playing this and teaching this song. I'm in central Maine out in the woods. My dream guitar is a Gibson Dove, I have the Epiphone version, but dream of the original.
Thanks for taking the time to give your explanation of this great song. I recently discovered alternate tunings by learning this song. What a joy open chords are! Takes a lot of the thinking away when you play. Oh yeah, I live just south east of Chicago 30 miles(from Chicago originally) in Hobart Indiana. I already acquired my dream guitar an Emerald X20, so my NEW dream guitar would be an Emerald X30 12 string. No idea what it would be after that, it would make guitar #10 but, as you probably know, we never have enough guitars.
I want to thank you for all of the effort you put into these videos. I gravitate to your lessons when wanting to learn a new song, or revisit an old one.
Awesome!! The Black Crowes were a great band. “She talks to Angels “ a true ballad. Well done! You should do more Crowes tunes. Lots of great open G stuff.
I just gotta say I love your teaching style Even though I had a pretty good teacher My uncle I wish you would have had somebody like you Back when I was 7All I have to say is keep up the great work, But back then There was no internet or TH-cam I right songs a lot And I appreciate Everything you do You can never stop learning thanks so very much.
This was AWESOME Angela!!!!! I've recently picked up my guitar again after many years. Absolutely loved this. One of my favorite songs ever. Thank you so much for this.
Thank you for teaching such a beautiful song. I really am enjoying learning this. Thank you so much for your time. And I am playing my dream accoustic guitar which is a little parlor Recording King. Thanks again dear. Have a great weekend.
Tuning in from lat 13n 144e. My best guitar gibson cl-40 artist model. Your mannerisms tell mecyou gotta be a great guitar teacher. Thanks for da lessons.
Hey gal I'm from Volant PA in western PA My favorite acoustics's are My one of a kind Gibson songwriter 12 string made by their custom shop. It became the prototype of that model of guitar. and I own one of the first 100 (No.61) of the J-35 Gibson guitars ever made. The J-35 was offered for sale in 1934 and mine was made in 1932. My Grandfather bought it new that same year and later passed it down to me.
Love your program and the format you use. It's a beautiful way to play some songs, and you're definitely a cool gal! I'm looking forward to adding this 2 my list of songs you've taught me. Which are in order... Black Hole Sun! Over the Hills and Far Away !!!! Man who sold the world Mr Jones No Excuses Don't look back in anger and now, this 1! You have brought my guitar playing 2 new levels that I wouldn't have been ready 4 had I not stumbled on 2 Riff Rundown. Rock on young lady!!!!
I keep missing these man and shes my fave guitar teacher too but I had so much to do tho. Can she make one like at 2 AM call it.. "Angela in the night". Watching the replay. Gonna catch a live one soon. I'll stay in the back of the room play it real cool. Thanks Angela.
Many thanks for this lesson. Í´m tuning in from Cologne, Germany. And í´ve found my dream acoustic guitar already. It´s a Hoefner from 1976 which was a gift from one of my dearest friends, Helge.
Amazing tutorial! I’m having so much fun learning this one! Thank you so much for your time and effort to show us in such great detail. Never ever thought I’d be able to play something like this. It’s given me such a boost in my confidence to play more, and just shows what an amazing teacher you are. I will continue to practice with you. Thanks a million.
Open Tunings, like "D" & this one, "E" are SO gorgeous. Just strumming, playing only 1 Note, feels incredibly profound. In fact, the Vibrations from Guitar Strings should be made an "Official" Therapy to work with Depression. I know the liberating effect Guitar has had on my own Self over the years & always felt that if everyone learned to play Guitar, even just a few notes in these Open Tunings, Teenagers who now seem to openly voice & struggle with Anxiety & Depression and similar imbalances, might find Sanity in reaching for a Guitar instead of a Xanax.
I’m listening from Texas , Houston and My dream Guitar 🎸 always was a Hunming bird got one last yr and always wanted a Martin too maybe one day love ❤️ your Martin your such a wonderful teacher! Love your patience,Be Cool if you would do fb live shows that would be awesome!
Tuning in from Phoenix, AZ. My dream acoustic guitar is a Taylor 814ce which I purchased a couple of months ago to add to my Martin D-28, D-35 and Takamine E341SC which is my go to guitar.
I'm so honored that you have done this song from the Bkack Crows. This is one of my most favorite songs that I have ever heard and wanted to learn how to play it. Thank you so much for doing this lesson on how to play it I'm going to save it so I learn how it's played. She talks to angles will go down as one the best songs ever written or at least to me. So again THAMK YOU!!! And now you have another subscriber to your channel. I've also watched the one that you did for Angie by the Rolling Stones that one was also very nicely done!! Keep up the awesome job and I will keep watching 👀 AWESOME, AWESOME,AWESOME!!!
Good morning. I am aware of the great potential and power of open guitar tunings. Let's just "say" I had guitar awareness in the 60s, so I have always been mystified by songs by such artists as The Rolling Stones (Moonlight Mile, Angie, etc) or Tom Rush (Rockport Sunday, No Regrets, Urge for Leaving) and newer artists and songs like The Black Crowes/She Talks to Angels. Sometimes I just tune my guitar, a 70s vintage Yamaha, to either an open D or E, or even a Modal tuning to noodle or try my hands (plural) at Suite Judy Blue Eyes by Crosby Stills and Nash. I appreciate your lesson here and will endeavor to learn all the licks to Talks to Angels, because although my voice is not of operatic caliber, it suffices enough to carry effectively. I am located near Chicago in a suburb close to Indiana, retired, and have always yearned for a Martin OM acoustic guitar, because as you know, it was one of the principal tools that folk guitarists from the 60s used to compose and perform their songs. Thank you for your video.
Thank you for this awesome lesson, Angela! For the harmonics, I find that if I roll my first finger over the frets instead of laying it flat on top, I got a much better harmonic tone.
Turning in from Florida. My dream acoustic guitar would be a wartime or pre-war Martin 000-18. I have a 1971 model and I love it, but I think I'd like to have one about 30 years older! I'm enjoying these videos. You're doing a great job Angela.
Being a solo acoustic guitarist, and not wanting to haul several guitars to a solo gig, I usually don’t do alternate tunings (it’s not worth the effort to retune the guitar for various songs). I figured out a fairly good approximation of the chord progression in standard tuning. I’ve been working on the riffs. Your instruction is great, though. My “dream guitar” changes depending on what music store I walk into…. A couple of years ago, I walked into a music store in Mandaville Louisiana just wanting some guitar picks and a capo. The guy had a Composite Acoustic guitar that sounded better than the “dream guitar” I had. It has that booming bass and treble sustain that no other guitar had. And plugged in it was fantastic. And I could pull the guitar out of a hot trunk and never have to tune it up for a gig. It has been my go to guitar for the past 5 years. But my dream road trip would be to drive to Bozeman Montana and buy a Gibson J-200 , custom made. Then, stop at every dive and bar on the way back to Georgia and play blues, Jazz and acoustic rock…..
Love your videos I’m in Orlando, I already have my dream acoustic it is a Larivee Custom Brazilian rosewood L-10 BZ 1off with every inlay they offer from top to bottom , it is a amazing masterpiece
I'm in Tacoma, Washington. The BEST was my 1970's Lyle hummingbird. They had to stop production after being sued by Gibson. I've had the Gibson version also, but the Lyle sounded awesome!
Great facial/eye expressions and hand gesturing,. good way of instructing for keeping your audience and with her big beauitful smiley expressive brown eyes lookin' out at us.

thank you Angela for teaching me how to play "Take it easy". Now I play it well and enjoy it. It took me a few days though...

This is so cool to learn. I'm from LA California, just learning how to play!
Florida,Hummingbird.
You are one of the best, thank you❗

Hello from Queensland Australia. Favourite Guitar is the LAG Hybrid Acoustic. Love this guitar
No sh:t your so lucky I’d kill for that guitar. Mine’s a Maton (not misspelled it’s Australia’s best made guitar mine is mid 80’s)
Love your program and the format you use. It's a beautiful way to play some songs, and you're definitely a cool gal! I'm looking forward to adding this 2 my list of songs you've taught me.
Which are in order...
Black Hole Sun!
Over the Hills and Far Away !!!!
Man who sold the world

No Excuses
Don't look back in anger

Many thanks for this lesson. Í´m tuning in from Cologne, Germany. And í´ve found my dream acoustic guitar already. It´s a Hoefner from 1976 which was a gift from one of my dearest friends, Helge.
Top video...many thanks will be picking up my acoustic once again...after it gets dusted down...God bless you woman...
I’m starting to believe you are the Angel the guitar gods sent to us ❤️😂👍🏽
I’m listening from Texas , Houston and My dream Guitar 🎸 always was a Hunming bird got one last yr and always wanted a Martin too maybe one day love ❤️ your Martin your such a wonderful teacher! Love your patience,Be Cool if you would do fb live shows that would be awesome!

Fabulous.... I’m thrilled to have found your channel! 😊 Tuning in from the UK, I’d say a J200 or J45!
Great lesson Angela, one of my favorite songs, thank you!

Another great lesson! My dream guitar would be the one that I could slay barre chords on..🙂🙂 Never give up never surrender
Thanks Angela, that was great! Another one down! Enjoyed it!
Thanks Martin!
Wow…..u r great. Love how u work thru the details. Tuning in from the swamps of jersey. Use to play in a band.
i love the devotion to the music and the harmonies that you reveal at any time - glad i found you here on Youtue Ray from Germany
I'm playing it with the exact same guitar you have there sweetie, great job!!
Excellent lesson for intermediate peeps .
Great facial/eye expressions and hand gesturing,. good way of instructing for keeping your audience and with her big beauitful smiley expressive brown eyes lookin' out at us.
