- A Michigan fan and alumnus called in to argue that the Wolverines can't utilize the transfer portal as well as other schools because U of M's academic standards are too high, and Mike isn't having any of it, causing him to go on a rant.

I played at MSU, and the fact is I would have not have been able to attend that University if I did not receive a full scholarship. Everyone besides ivy League, northwestern, Stanford, and Georgia tech all lower their GPA requirements for athletes to get a scholarship to play sports. What a waste of breath with that phone call haha
Tech's problem is two-fold, the academia, PLUS the fact that we have such a limited curriculum. Not anybody can just transfer their credits in with all of our 40-something majors.

don't try to mix football and academics and try to make a new trophy which calculates both categories for a winner
it's a weak argument to bring up academics, to try and say that "our academics are ranked higher, so even when we lose, it's not that bad" when discussing football

Hmm, is this caller really a "Michigan alum"? Really? "We take 1 in 4 guys... excuse me, 25%" Yeah buddy those are the same thing. And him bringing up the acceptance rate of regular students as a reason it may be more difficult for Michigan football to be competitive than places like Bama, etc... AND conceding that the football players would not get in as regular students???? Okay, so how does that acceptance rate portion of the call helps your argument???? I'm not an expert in the quality of higher education institutions, but I'm sure people graduating from UM would sound smarter than that...

The fact you think it’s jealousy says everything about why MSU fans are actually mad. The superiority complex makes them fail harder which is why MSU fan laugh at these arguments. Of course Michigan fans perceive it as jealousy but only bc they have a narcissistic attitude
