      @@GetYourSaxTogether Please check your post. The first two pages have 1 sharp in 3/4 first for the bari section, and then none in the key sig in the 4/4 section, and this makes sense that the tenor section has one less sharp. Then there are two sets of 3 pages, and all 6 of those other pages show 1 flat throughout and do not make sense. So sorry to offend you, but better to get to the bottom of this, no ? It is not my intent to undermine your work, but we are human, and unintended mistakes do happen. The first 2 pages sufficiently detail the solo section for both saxes, but the last 6 pages are indeed a head scratcher?!

      @@shipsahoy1793 oh my F-ing god. I just checked the PDF. It’s a mess. There’s been a horrible mistake in production. It’s printed the score not the parts, and the formatting is all over the place.
      I’m am SO sorry and so embarrassed. It’s all been corrected now. I feel like such an a**hole. Please email me personally at info@getyoursaxtogether.com and allow me to apologise directly. Jamie. 🤭

    I've always played this only on tenor. Just tried the "switch" It's not easy. You will have damage until you figure out how to do it. Labor of love, indeed.

    Hanging both bari and tenor on your neck is definitely a HEAVY METAL experience. I know my neck wouldn't be able to take it.

      Guy I play with in a big band told me he did this solo in a show. Lasted a week, I think he said. Dangerous for his neck, dangerous for the instruments.

    This is such a long-awaited Jamie lesson for me. Thank you for delivering, always delivering and over-delivering, Jamie. What a beautifully done video with chart, notes, fingerings, and two views of you. WHO DOES THAT?!?!?

    Thanks and well done Jamie, that is an epic solo; definitely one of my favourites! I never really thought about it or realised it was played on both bari and tenor. I would love the opportunity to play that live but sadly never have over my 45 years!

    Never heard this song until somebody from a band asked me if I could play this with them. Practice hard, practise smart😅. No altisimo yet, but men, I love to play (or at least practise) this.
    The other solo, Money, is how I found your channel. There is so much to learn from you.
    By the way, there is a small typo at bar 55 at Bb. You wrote the notennames c-d-c-d, but I guess it should have been c-d-c-c. Keep up the good work. Again love your channel.
    Thank you Jamie!

    I’m going to learn this. Loved the album ever since it came out. It would be fun to learn to play it.
    I’m also going to look at joining the inner circle.
    Just one last question. How do you… or where do you get the backing tracks?
    I’ve also heard other TH-camrs do that and I’d like to get some for my own use.
    Thanks

    Hey Jamie, you may remember I asked you about this solo once on your Q&A sessions in particular how to swap saxes live. Up until now I've been playing the solo live with my tenor only but later this week will be my first attempt in front of a theatre audience of the "Parry manoeuvre". Thanks for this video though it helps seeing your take on it.

    • @GetYourSaxTogether
      @GetYourSaxTogether  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You might need to cut a few notes from each end to get the swap in. He plays it slightly different live.

    • @Zorgongola
      @Zorgongola ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GetYourSaxTogether Absolutely, I'm thinking the shuffle can be started a beat or two late and still sound ok. I've also been making custom straps that easily slip over each other.

    • @Zorgongola
      @Zorgongola 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Jamie @GetYourSaxTogether - so I managed it, after quite a bit of practice it's not as scary as one might think. The blue custom strap you can see in this photo on my tenor was a game changer as the clip slid easily along the strap and didn't rely on slipping around my neck rob.buller.org/zincfloyd/Ed-Shots/zincfloyd-100.jpg

    I stumbled upon your channel this morning and have been binge-watching your videos for easily about 5 hours now. I'm wanting to get into picking up the sax (have had a guitar and piano background - dunno why, but something just draws me in to the sax. It's definitely like no other instrument I've played given that it's a woodwind instrument).
    Curious to know if you have a video on alto vs tenor. I'm not yet sure on which one to go with. I've heard alto is more common, smaller, lightweight, and the breath goes a longer way (so easier maybe?). The tenor is a little more difficult in comparison, bigger and a bit heavier. They say it depends on the sound I'm going for - I like a darker, lower-tone sound maybe due to my own background of classic rock and metal. May I get your opinion on this? Sorry if I'm overlooking a video you may have done on this topic. Thank you!

    • @GetYourSaxTogether
      @GetYourSaxTogether  ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, it’s really just personal. Most people say start on alto but I never see why you shouldn’t start on tenor! Thanks for watching!
