He refuses to throw his flight crew mate under the bus. He's a reckless alcoholic, but also a loyal friend.
Plus, he finally had enough. "God help me" says it all.
He wasnt just a loyal friend. He was an alcoholic that said "You know I can walk free, but Im not going to lie, put this on my dead co-worker so I can be free to drink. Im going to tell the truth. Let the chips fall where they may" As an alcoholic myself, I hate what he did, but glad he did the right thing in the end when it mattered.
So true he’s still loyal….
He was drunk in this particular scene
Great movie, Denzel was convincing af as an alcoholic, the instability.
And the deception
Him drinking vodka doesn’t make him responsible for the crash. It just means he was flying drunk as they found out it was a faulty plane.
Yeah not the point though
It’s why he only got 4 or 5 years in jail. If him flying drunk got 6 people killed he would been in prison for life.
@@Chg267 he got fired from the airline though, and I doubt any airline is going to hire him back.
In a way, he did cause the crash cause when he took off, he was over stressing the elevators as he did not even use autopilot on the climb. Pilots tend use autopilot before even reaching 5,000 feet. This guy was above 10,000 feet and still flying manually.
Lol doesn’t matter. He was still flying a plane drunk. He’s not above the law
@@jd0879never said he was. Him flying drunk though doesn’t mean he’s responsible for manslaughter.
Straight up what it's like to deal with an alcoholic. Frustration upon frustration.
He flys better drunk is that the moral of the story
An inspiration for booze cruisers everywhere

Imagine if he was sober, he might of saved everyone on the flight and missed the church
@@user-bb3rx7mh8k agreed no drunk 747 pilots not ideal

Agreed, it makes a good movie! He plays the part very well
Being drunk saved those peoples lives. Only a drunk genius would think of such a radical solution.
What a man! THE Denzel Washington 🔥
this is the scene when whip becomes flyzenberg
😂 Charlie got caught in cross fire 🔥
theyre bleeping "scumbag" now? What the----

Denzel can do no wrong 👏👏👏
Literally
Just keep em’ nice and sober so he can save your f**kin’ union!
Denzels the man.
Based on a true story, but in real life the guy wasnt an alcoholic. The plane was broken, the airline failed to run some sort of maintenance on the plqne. Some parts hadnt been serviced in over like 16 months or somethinf like that.

why do they keep on real life language away from real life? for f*BLEEP*'s sake!
that's why alcohol is forbidden in islam .... يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا إِنَّمَا الْخَمْرُ وَالْمَيْسِرُ وَالْأَنْصَابُ وَالْأَزْلَامُ رِجْسٌ مِنْ عَمَلِ الشَّيْطَانِ فَاجْتَنِبُوهُ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَ ..... alcoholic drinks), gambling, Al-Ansab, and Al-Azlam (arrows for seeking luck or decision) are an abomination of Shaitan's (Satan) handiwork. So avoid (strictly all) that (abomination) in order that you may be successful.
Ive seen a lot of alcoholics and drug users that were functioning with their using, who believe it or not did some amazing things and performed in situations that weren't handled as well by clear level sobor individuals. I am not advocating for impairment, but ive witnessed drinking late night singles make far better mechanical tech guys

"The FAA and the NTSB took 10 pilots, placed them in simulators, recreated the events that led to this plane falling out of the sky. Do you know how many of them were able to safely land the planes? Not one. Every pilot crashed the aircraft, killed everybody on board. You were the only one who could do it!" WOW what a horrid thing to ever put to script. Alcohol makes you a better pilot I guess? Or Whitaker is SO good even drunk he's a better pilot than everyone else in the world. What BS. Pilots aren't magically created by god like top gun suggests, sure there is a base level of talent needed but a lot of it is TRAINING and learning procedures and practice. This is just a ridiculous concept, if the NTSB had a scenario for the flight, what happened initially and what state the plane was in and if no one could get the plane on the ground as it had in the accident ... then they would assume that had something wrong, either the scenario or something missing from the simulator. People wouldn't conclude "magic pilot." People have DIED in actual crashes when pilots have been compromised by drugs or alcohol. Continental Express Flight 2286 is a good example. The whole idea of this movie seem pretty offensive. I'm sure it was written by someone who thinks that a deer was the reason they crashed and NOT the beer they had ...
Edit: I haven't seen the film ... is this one of those hollywood films that for some dumb reason has the NTSB as the bad guys ??? Couldn't forgive "Sully" for that one ... They're the NTSB their whole job is to investigate accidents, find causes and investigate other risks in airplane travel and to prevent future accidents to make people safer. How can you make them the bad guys?
Well, he began that morning quite hungover, so the cocaine helped with that.
The vodka was just to take the edge off.🤣
There are easier ways to demonstrate that you are a virtue signaling karen sitting around waiting for the next thing to be outraged about. Although writing an entire cancel culture novel about a movie you didn't even see is one approach i guess.....
Idk where you’re getting that the ntsb is made out to be the bad guy. the bad guy is clearly denzel.
plus, its just a movie. no need to get so serious about it lol
Switch to decaf, it's just a movie.
The vodka only made him confident. It didn’t actually help him crash land the plane in which most of the people could survive.
