  • We sleep, camp, and take road trips in our Honda Pilot SUV Tiny Camper for months at a time. Our tiny camper has a kitchen off the back, and has a living room area that converts to a sleeping area using a bed board that we made. We use custom made window screens and window covers for privacy. We made no modifications to the interior of our SUV to make everything fit. We were inspired by teardrop trailer layouts when we made this.

    I loved your video. It was exactly what my wife and I were looking for. We're going to be purchasing a 2019 Honda Passport next week. Can't wait to do this. I'm the builder in the relationship and have personally converted a 2017 Kia Sorento and a 2014 Nissan Xterra , 2016 Toyota Sienna, 2013 Toyota Sienna, and a 2018 Nissan Frontier into camping rigs. This will be a fun build. I'm looking forward to it. The Kia Sorento and Xterra were mine and my wife's. The rest belonged to family and friends. They just ask me to build it for them and pay me. But your video was such a breath of fresh air. You were concise and didn't play obnoxious music throughout

      Glad you enjoyed the video. We love seeing all the different setups out there, especially SUV or minivan conversions. Good luck with your next project!

    Great video.👍.
    I just returned from a 2 month car camping trip in my 1997 RAV4. Used some of your ideas from your videos.
    Florida to California all the way up to Washington state . All thru the Rockies and back to Florida .
    Next year I’m headed to Alaska and Canada.
    Thanks for the ideas and safe travels 😎

    Thank you for this video, showing how one can outfit a family car for camping and then still have it useable for every day driving. Very good use of space. Also, great presentation. Now I am off to look at some of your other videos.

    I like what you are doing with the Pilot. I want to remove the second row seats to create more valuable storage space under the sleeping area for power station, water, electric fridge etc.. You daily convert your bed back to seats to create your "living room" what are the advantages/disadvantages of using the two (more comfortable) front seats as your "living room" ?

    • @ChrisAndEmilie
      @ChrisAndEmilie  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We've talked about removing the second and/or third row of seats to create extra storage space. But we've been able to make room for everything without doing that so far, which is why we've left it as-is.

    Love it!💙💙 what do you use for AC? Beautiful set up! Love your simple video 💙 I live in Miami, Fl. and I am looking for someone that can help me do the same thing to my WV 2019 Tiguan. Instead of a bed, I would love to have a low comfortable chair, AC. I have a place to park it 😊 I just need a place to relax, work, and read 2-3 hours a day. Can you give me any advice?

    Love the wall idea to separate the kitchen and sleeping areas. I’m betting that helps with smells as well. Thank you for sharing!

      Thanks! We really like the wall for the extra privacy and spacing too. Like when one of us wants to sleep in and the other wants to get up and make coffee.

      Subscribed !! This was GREAT ! My FJ Cruiser is too small for the two of us and too cumbersome on the road (lifted), so I will be getting a Pilot now. 2016 or 2017 probably and do this set up as Mini-van would be great to get out of the Arizona HEAT in the summer but can’t go enough places off road. Always liked the PILOT and now you made it work for us. Wonderful !
      Question ??,… do you think the divider wall to the kitchen could be hinged to fold down, backward toward the rear when driving for better visibility (say fold onto the top of the water dispenser in the rear), if build out of that foam core type cardboard ?? ( maybe using a high quality type cloth tape horizontally ). Thanks LOADS and cheers.

      Yes, it works great for that! We’re currently on our longest road trip yet and we’re surprising ourselves with how long we’re comfortable traveling out of it.

    I've just bought a Kia Sportage and researching all car camp set ups - Yours is definitely the best I've come across. Being in the UK we don't get the best weather so need options for indoor cooking and living areas to convert into quickly!!

    When you say a new "ice block", can you elaborate. Is this a bag of ice or something different?

    • @ChrisAndEmilie
      @ChrisAndEmilie  ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s a block of ice, as opposed to ice cubes which melt faster. We keep the ice block in a sealed bag or container to keep it from getting water in the rest of the cooler.

    • @ChrisAndEmilie
      @ChrisAndEmilie  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! We thought about taking the seats out too for a bit of extra storage room and more bed height, but as you said, it works pretty well with the seats in, so we’ve just left them there.

    • @ChrisAndEmilie
      @ChrisAndEmilie  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s right. We didn’t modify the Pilot at all and all the seats are still there. We’ve considered removing some seats for extra storage, but we’ve been in the Pilot for 4 years now without having done that yet!
