      I'm not sure why that is. However, this show did manage to sneak in the odd Nixon joke during the course of his presidency.

    • @dylanmaxey2531
      @dylanmaxey2531 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bluebear1985 Heck what I recall a lot of politics at the time because Nixon happened and the celebrities were basically reflections of the times. People were able to act like adults then and enjoyed good natured fun poked towards all sides. People back then could agree to is agree on a topic and not devolve it into a personal attack. These shows remind me we can act like adults now IF we choose to but the networks like making money off exaggerated disagreements and big money drools when things become school yard. Reality shows, why do they still exist or NEWS is not just the facts and now all talking heads over talking for hours on a topic but never just give us the news about everything else? Hate rhetoric makes money. Sorry for long tirade not aimed towards you in anyway, too many beers late night rambling. Thank you I hope for understanding, nothing but thanks for stimulating my mind into a deep fun rabbit hole of pondering.

    This is a rare episode where each celebrity was picked and the entire nine square grid was all filled up in a single round. Now that's what I love to see. There were many episodes where one celebrity was not selected during an entire show and I felt sorry for that star who was left out in the cold. There was not a single lox in the bunch in this classic episode of The Hollywood Squares.

      Any child of the 70s will tell you how wonderful day time game shows were in the summer. They would stay on until 11 or 12 and then off to the pool for the day. Gosh life was great. No worries other than having enough money to get some taffy at the pool. In the 70s and 80s parents would drop kinds off at the pool, the mall, the skating rink and come back 2 or 3 hours later to pick them up. I'm talking about even 10 yr olds. Kids were more mature then. Plus you didn't worry about them getting nabbed. It was just different, and it was wonderful too.

    This was even before Blazing Saddles, Young Frankenstein and Little house on the prarie. Both Mel and Landon's careers were just getting started here and they already were accomplished by this time.

    Host: [to Rose Marie] is there a law that can force a man to marry a woman?
    Rose Marie: yes and I think it's called the "mother-in-law"
    That's the sort of joke you'd expect Joan Rivers to come out with.

    Most hysterical episode of Hollywood Squares I have ever seen ! Paul Lynde, Redd Foxx, Rose Marie, Mel Brooks, Wally Cox, Vincent Price all in top form and then that off the wall ditsy contestant ! She was so ridiculous that it makes me wonder if it was an act for the cameras. Definitely the most outrageous contestant I've seen on this show. Whole thing made for one wacky episode.
