All out of Death Defiance, health down to half, thinking I've taken down the boss... Then Hades whips out his guitar and smacks me over the head with this beauty. Game over man, game over. One of the greatest boss fights ever.
I almost thought I was done If not for the fact that every time you beat the normal version of the boss, the end of God of the Dead plays. When I just hear the song fade out, I had to make a double-take just before his health bar rose back up. Oh yeah, I died.

I think it's because it's a near-perfect mirror match. Hades has exactly the same moveset you do, attack, special, cast, dash, etc. It's also possible to replicate almost any attack he has
It took me a month to finally reach Extreme Measures Hades, and I had purposefully avoided listening to this song until then. Tonight, I got there for the first time, and beat him, I was feeling so pleased with myself, until... this music started. As Hades was whooping my ass, I was too distracted to fight back, because all I could think was "Wow, so THAT'S why they needed two guitar soloists."

My favourite part of this fight by far is the fact that, after the shock of seeing Hades get back on his feet the first time you "beat" him, EM4 tricks the player into thinking that the alterations to Hades' attacks, the midboss summons, new patterns and Cerberus summon are all EM4 has to offer, only to call back to that initial shock by introducing the third phase. Completely blew my expectations for the fight out of the water.
Dude. I just went theough this. 10 heat run. EM4, first time. Got to Styx with all my defiances. Put on lucky tooth for good measure, 4 lives. Got the satyr bag in the 4th room, got back to full health bought everything. The final room was just 100 coins, there was literally no reason to go in there so I didn’t. Went to Hades. Its a tough fight but i get through, beat him with 2 lives left. He says he’s not finished yet, gets up AGAIN. Phase 3. Its dark, I don’t know what to expect. I fight. I fight hard. Music’s crazy, heart rate is high. Got him down to 10%, to learn again, There is no escape. I love this game.

@@BCNinja89 I personally sometimes skip all tunnels and go straight for Hades as soon as I get the Fountain, if I feel safe enough, because it means i'll start the bossfight at full Health which i probably won't if i continue through the tunnels
For those that might not know, this is Daisuke Kurosawa, NOT Ishiwatari. Don’t get me wrong, Ishiwatari is a legend thanks to his Guilty Gear compositions, but Kurosawa is a legend to rhythm gamers everywhere. Under the moniker of “96”, he’s composed some of, if not the best music in all of BEMANI/rhythm games. What Ishiwatari did for fighting games, 96 did for rhythm games. 96/Kurosawa is someone that doesn’t get enough credit and I’m glad that he contributed here because I’m having a blast with Hades.

I think I was actually surprised the first time, which I think makes it even cooler. There's enough new moves to phases 1-2 to make you think they copped out, and then you get hit with the craziest fight AND the craziest music just when you think you can relax.
I love that this is called "The Unseen Ones" because this isn't just the Theme of the final boss but it's the Theme of the fight, after all you only hear it after you've proven yourself to the boss by defeating him. This song is the song of an epic Battle that shall go unseen by all, this game is truly amazing.
Also, this is the battle between Hades, who is unseen by any when using his Helm of Darkness, and Zagreus, shielded in the Underworld by Nyx, duking it out just outside the Underworld, hidden from everyone else. No god, mortal or deceased will be able to witness the battle. They both are the Unseen Ones. Especially with the sigil we get from our dad.
"Unseen One" is the highest Rank available in the game from the "Resource Director" - it takes 350,000 Darkness, 100 Keys, 50 Nectars and 10 Diamonds-Ambrosia-Titan's Blood... Hades comments on the fact that you've reached his Rank once you get there. Hence the Name of the Song - a battle between equals.
I had 37 seconds on the countdown, Hades had just gone down for the first time and I had beaten my first 16 heat run. I was quite proud. Then suddenly, the countdown picks up again and I am shredded to death right before it hits zero. Metal as all hell.
@@superextremehappy plus you have to go willingly knowing you are about to subject yourself to one of the hardest challenge the game will throw at your face. It's 10 Heat alone. One pact.
The one problem for me is that the difficulty should have ramped up to this level quicker on the pack. It may have been ten heat but if the pact would require more heat quicker then I wouldn't have destroyed 3rd phase as quickly due to having so many buffs from mirror and weapons. One heat per bounty is just too slow of a ramp up for me.
Now I just have the image of the sun rising on the third phase of this fight and Apollo is riding his chariot across the sky and just facemelting along to the fight
If you're listening to this because you beat Extreme Measures Dad, good job. You deserve the praise and the titan blood. But lets be real. You've reached the peak. Now, short of amping up to ever more stupid and impossible self-imposed challenges with the Pact of Punishment, you are never facing a more difficult challenge in Hades ever again. It's time to turn the difficulty down, focus on completes your prophecies and achievements, and enjoy wacky builds. Relax.
I mean, if you're the sort to enjoy challenge runs go for it, but EM4 is like linking the fire. You have seen the coolest challenges the game has to offer and you have the respect of everyone who knows what it is.
turned on EM4 the first time i beat 16 heat, i had a super overpowered crit zeus shield build and i had full death defiance+skelly at the start of the dad fight and had 2 left by the time he went into stage 3 so I wasn't stressing, i was just enjoying the music. really fun fight.
It jumped into my top 5 games of all time within a week, right up there with SNES classics, blasting right past the nostalgia barrier, for Zeus's sake.
The song doesn't just represent the ultimate stage 3 boss fight. This song describes the transition of a father and son from hating and not even knowing each other to developing a mutal love and respect for each other and speaking to each other in the best way they both know - fighting each other to the death. And the choice of dueling guitars describes this so perfectly, I can barely get to this music in the fight without getting tears in my eyes every time.

Just beat this dude yesterday, and i think i'm gonna keep EM4 active for a long time just for the challenge, it's one hell of a fight and defeating him felt so satisfying. Oh, and of course this song is god-tier, best OST in the game for me

I had Gilgamesh equipped on my first part 3 run. Just imagine claws, dashes and blood all over the place with this badass song shredding all over your headphones... Mmmmph that was so good.

Yesterday was the first time i finally decided to try to do extreme measures 4, i can pretty much keep up a streak on all other variations of measures up to 9 then this. I managed to get to the hades bossfight finally thinking it cant be that bad. Stage one he summons some stronger enemies moves around faster all that stuff. I lose a death defiance no biggy i think i got this. Stage 2 comes around he's even faster has an extended combo, which my muscle memory is not prepared for, i lose another death defiance, but to get him down thinking finally got him. Then the conversation window comes up, i stare at it for like 2 minutes straight. I was not prepared. I manage to get him down to around 10% of his hp thanks to the hype and focus from this epic song. But end up dying. Blood and darkness that was amazing. I HAVE to beat him now. I tried 4 more tries each getting to the 3rd phase still cannot beat it. Today i'll make it happen. Thank you supergiant games.
idk how people do it man, i once had a level 7 curse of doom ares boon in TARTARUS but totally wasted that run. im not sure how to defeat em4 hades besides having overpowered boon levels lmao
They did the best job at hiding that there was a third phase. The extreme measures totally reworked the first 2 phases and made them so hard that you think "that's gotta be it." I legit put down the controller and scrambled for it when he got back up.
Possibly my favorite moment from this game was when I had finally killed hades on extreme measures after a day and a half with like 50 HP and no death defiance left. My first thought was “thank GOD there’s not a third phase.” I think we all know how that ended…
That dreaded moment when you have Extreme Measures 4 on, you down father for the second time, thinking it's over. Then the guitar solo kicks in as Hades casually stands up going "Oh? You thought this game was getting E A S Y ? ! ? !"

My favourite part of this fight by far is the fact that, after the shock of seeing Hades get back on his feet the first time you "beat" him, EM4 tricks the player into thinking that the alterations to Hades' attacks, the midboss summons, new patterns and Cerberus summon are all EM4 has to offer, only to call back to that initial shock by introducing the third phase. Completely blew my expectations for the fight out of the water.
Dude. I just went theough this. 10 heat run. EM4, first time. Got to Styx with all my defiances. Put on lucky tooth for good measure, 4 lives. Got the satyr bag in the 4th room, got back to full health bought everything. The final room was just 100 coins, there was literally no reason to go in there so I didn’t. Went to Hades. Its a tough fight but i get through, beat him with 2 lives left. He says he’s not finished yet, gets up AGAIN. Phase 3. Its dark, I don’t know what to expect. I fight. I fight hard. Music’s crazy, heart rate is high. Got him down to 10%, to learn again, There is no escape.

@@BCNinja89 actually, in the last Satyr Tunnel with the 100 coins, you could have found a Well of Charon with a +30% attack damage item, so it's always worth it to go in :D
@@Dutchdennis7 Yes, I totally agree! Normally that is the case but i actually already had it with 2 turns left on it lol. That was the one of only maybe three times i skipped out on the final tunnel lol
@@BCNinja89 I personally sometimes skip all tunnels and go straight for Hades as soon as I get the Fountain, if I feel safe enough, because it means i'll start the bossfight at full Health which i probably won't if i continue through the tunnels

For those that might not know, this is Daisuke Kurosawa, NOT Ishiwatari. Don’t get me wrong, Ishiwatari is a legend thanks to his Guilty Gear compositions, but Kurosawa is a legend to rhythm gamers everywhere. Under the moniker of “96”, he’s composed some of, if not the best music in all of BEMANI/rhythm games. What Ishiwatari did for fighting games, 96 did for rhythm games. 96/Kurosawa is someone that doesn’t get enough credit and I’m glad that he contributed here because I’m having a blast with Hades.
Well now i want a collaboration between the two Daisukes.
Don't forget Mashiro Aoki, for he has done work composing songs for Street Fighter V and Sengoku BASARA. This collab between the two made this remix FIRE.
The strange thing is, if you showed me this song before I played Hades without actually showing me the video or the title card, and told me it was from Guilty Gear, I'd be none the wiser. This actually sounds like a Guilty Gear track.

The first time I fought EM Hades I watched him go down after phase 2 and was like "you have a phase 3 don't you". Then this started playing
I was like: "alright, the real fight starts now right?" Then the music kicks in "sounds about right"
I think I was actually surprised the first time, which I think makes it even cooler. There's enough new moves to phases 1-2 to make you think they copped out, and then you get hit with the craziest fight AND the craziest music just when you think you can relax.
I love that this is called "The Unseen Ones" because this isn't just the Theme of the final boss but it's the Theme of the fight, after all you only hear it after you've proven yourself to the boss by defeating him.
This song is the song of an epic Battle that shall go unseen by all, this game is truly amazing.

Also, this is the battle between Hades, who is unseen by any when using his Helm of Darkness, and Zagreus, shielded in the Underworld by Nyx, duking it out just outside the Underworld, hidden from everyone else. No god, mortal or deceased will be able to witness the battle. They both are the Unseen Ones.
Especially with the sigil we get from our dad.
"Unseen One" is the highest Rank available in the game from the "Resource Director" - it takes 350,000 Darkness, 100 Keys, 50 Nectars and 10 Diamonds-Ambrosia-Titan's Blood... Hades comments on the fact that you've reached his Rank once you get there.
Hence the Name of the Song - a battle between equals.

I had 37 seconds on the countdown, Hades had just gone down for the first time and I had beaten my first 16 heat run. I was quite proud. Then suddenly, the countdown picks up again and I am shredded to death right before it hits zero. Metal as all hell.

@@superextremehappy plus you have to go willingly knowing you are about to subject yourself to one of the hardest challenge the game will throw at your face. It's 10 Heat alone. One pact.
The one problem for me is that the difficulty should have ramped up to this level quicker on the pack. It may have been ten heat but if the pact would require more heat quicker then I wouldn't have destroyed 3rd phase as quickly due to having so many buffs from mirror and weapons. One heat per bounty is just too slow of a ramp up for me.

turned on EM4 the first time i beat 16 heat, i had a super overpowered crit zeus shield build and i had full death defiance+skelly at the start of the dad fight and had 2 left by the time he went into stage 3 so I wasn't stressing, i was just enjoying the music. really fun fight.
Now Hades is officially released, I'm already wondering what masterpiece would they bring next.

There are many, _many_ reasons that Hades is comfortably one of my favorite games of all time and the soundtrack is definitely a factor.
It jumped into my top 5 games of all time within a week, right up there with SNES classics, blasting right past the nostalgia barrier, for Zeus's sake.
The song doesn't just represent the ultimate stage 3 boss fight. This song describes the transition of a father and son from hating and not even knowing each other to developing a mutal love and respect for each other and speaking to each other in the best way they both know - fighting each other to the death. And the choice of dueling guitars describes this so perfectly, I can barely get to this music in the fight without getting tears in my eyes every time.

I had Gilgamesh equipped on my first part 3 run. Just imagine claws, dashes and blood all over the place with this badass song shredding all over your headphones... Mmmmph that was so good.
Gilgamesh is freaking amazing. dash-special inflicts doom on steroids, just watch out for the increased damage in the meantime. all of my 10+ heat clears have been with it.

OLYMPUS OR HADES, DUEL 1, LETS ROCK!
Yesterday was the first time i finally decided to try to do extreme measures 4, i can pretty much keep up a streak on all other variations of measures up to 9 then this. I managed to get to the hades bossfight finally thinking it cant be that bad. Stage one he summons some stronger enemies moves around faster all that stuff. I lose a death defiance no biggy i think i got this. Stage 2 comes around he's even faster has an extended combo, which my muscle memory is not prepared for, i lose another death defiance, but to get him down thinking finally got him. Then the conversation window comes up, i stare at it for like 2 minutes straight. I was not prepared. I manage to get him down to around 10% of his hp thanks to the hype and focus from this epic song. But end up dying. Blood and darkness that was amazing. I HAVE to beat him now. I tried 4 more tries each getting to the 3rd phase still cannot beat it. Today i'll make it happen. Thank you supergiant games.
Did you make it happen? Strong Drink ensures that you can go into it at full health, the extra damage is just the cherry on top.

They did the best job at hiding that there was a third phase. The extreme measures totally reworked the first 2 phases and made them so hard that you think "that's gotta be it."

Possibly my favorite moment from this game was when I had finally killed hades on extreme measures after a day and a half with like 50 HP and no death defiance left. My first thought was “thank GOD there’s not a third phase.”
