This is an adorable breed, but too high energy for a senior citizens like my hubby and me! I have a question for you lucky pet moms and dads: I heard Wheatons can have trouble digesting protein, which I found really surprising, since dogs tend to eat mostly protein, in general. If you have a protein sensible Wheaton, what in the world do you feed them? BTW: We will be getting a new pup in a week or so which is better suited to our energy level...a cavapoo/Cavoodle (mix between mini poodle and King Charles Cavalier Spaniel.) we lost our fur baby this past Dec., and we’re so heart broken. Can’t wait to hold a little fur baby in our arms again! Loved this video!
I think what you’re thinking of are some hereditary illnesses that wheatens can have. If they’re healthy they can have protein with no problem. Did you get your new fur baby?
@@mjeb3 Yes! And we love her...but, we’re also bringing in a trainer to our house next week. Having a puppy is challenging, especially for older folks like us...though hubby and I are, like a lot of baby boomers, somewhat “youngish” still! 😆😆 She is certainly keeping us on our old toes! 🧑🏻🦳she can be a real snuggle bunny, but, like most puppies, has got to learn we are not her teething rings! I am hoping that a lot of her behavior and energy will change as she gets older. Wish I could share a photo with you. Thank you so much for asking, and also for clarifying the protein issue I heard about Re: Wheatons. Do you have one?
@@cydkriletich6538 so glad you got her! Yes it’s a lot of work taking care of a puppy! Yes I have a wheaten who is 7 and before her I had another wheaten who unfortunately died when she was 8 & 1/2. We think she had a brain tumor 💔
I have two wheaten terriers and one German Shepherd. My profile pic is Rocky. He is so lazy and is a lap dog! Zoey my other wheaten is super wild but fun!
Folks on here who have owned or currently owned one of these beautiful dogs... Question. I have been looking to get a dog for a long time as a first time owner. I've also done a lot of research, and this dog ticks a lot of the boxes for me. The only thing I'm concerned about is hearing they have very high energy. I'm a person with anxiety who is a little more laid-back and gets really anxious if I'm around dogs who are constantly bouncing around and not well-trained. What is your experience with them?
They’re very smart dogs but you’ll probably want to get some professional advice on training because they can be very persistent lol. I wasn’t able to train my wheaten not to jump, I probably should have taken some lessons. They really have a lot of energy. Do you happen to have a fenced in yard or enjoy going for a run?
@@mjeb3 I do have a fenced in yard and am close to some great dog parks. And yes, I would love to go for a run and would take them out daily to exercise. I suppose I don't mind a little jumping as long as they don't constantly do it?
@@fionamorel they do it for several minutes but it’s not every day and they get VERY excited and do it when you first get home. I have a fenced in yard and it’s the best for them because as soon as it starts (they’re referred to as zoomies LOL) you can let them out and they’ll run around the yard like crazy and get it out of their system. They’re such loving and sensitive dogs. Grooming is also a job though so either you’ll want to find a good groomer or learn how to groom them yourself.
@@fionamorel Wheaten breeder here; it's been a couple of years since you asked the question but typically Wheatens with Irish bloodlines are a little higher energy so if you are able access that information, it might help.

Sweetie wheaties
He wanted to give you a present.
I have a Wheaten terrier, his name is Juggy and he’s only 8 months old
This is an adorable breed, but too high energy for a senior citizens like my hubby and me! I
have a question for you lucky pet moms and dads: I heard Wheatons can have trouble digesting protein, which I found really surprising, since dogs tend to eat mostly protein, in general.
@@mjeb3 so sad. Our adopted dog we adopted in 2012 died at age 8 from neurological problems. It broke our hearts. They are really like family members.
@@cydkriletich6538 they absolutely are part of our families and it’s so hard to say goodbye to them. Best of luck with your new baby!! 🐾 🐾
I have two wheaten terriers and one German Shepherd. My profile pic is Rocky. He is so lazy and is a lap dog! Zoey my other wheaten is super wild but fun!
I have a chaweenie names cooper. Yea just thought I’d share
7:00 I have 5 wheaten terriers (we breed) and they always do this when we let them outside.... gets really annoying XD
j'ai un soft coated wheaten terrier !trouver sans puse ni vaccin!je l'ai adopter,

@@mjeb3 Awesome! ☺️ Thanks so much for the advice.
@@fionamorel Wheaten breeder here; it's been a couple of years since you asked the question but typically Wheatens with Irish bloodlines are a little higher energy so if you are able access that information, it might help.
I have two wheaten terriers there names are Bella and Reese
