Imagine Sam trying to doing this in under 100 hours without much of a plan on a tight budget while doing random challenges
Impossible, can't imagine it, unless he teams up with Real Life Lore
@@theflev-matic4892 nah he must team up with the logistics man wandever something

He should do that in a new channel specifically for this type of game!!
@@JoaoOliveira-wi3hc only if he goes insane
Nah, he would be this crazy, plus his editor wont let him
This would be great as some sort of international travel competition.

I would watch the heck out of that
It'd be pretty crazy if they made a whole channel dedicated to a game show about this that is named after the headline of the article about the guy who holds the current world record which is shown at 2:19
You like read my mind or something
Hmm but that sounds like it would get a little repetitive after a while, so maybe they should mix the concept up with some children's games, like tag for example, or connect four.
Imagine if instead of circumnavigating or playing tag, they tried to get to as many US states as possible or something. Idk, just an idea
@T S search “jet lag the game” on youtube
Yeah so I know my math sucks and there are actually 9 hours you can catch a flight on the east coast. Don't forget to unsubscribe!

Could you first imagine how Sam from Wendover would do this in less than 100 hours against his editors, and then find it this good so they put subscribers into this competition to see how crazy we were for thinking Sam would do this himself.
step 1: start your own airline
step 2: offer the fastest possible commercial flights around the word, but only for a single passenger (wich is you)
step 3: enjoy your unbeatable record

I'm pretty sure that if you had enough money you could convince Russia into sending you around the world in about an hour an a half; or you could wait till commercial orbital flights become more common.
i think the line between "circumnavigation" and "orbit" sorta gets drawn at the Karman line. I dunno if the FAI would jive with that.
*Commercial* Flights. Getting Russia to send you around in a spacecraft doesn't count.

If they get paid -> they are doing it for money -> it is commercial. btw love your videos cody!

That pointer you put in "Melbourne" is actually where Adelaide is. Blame the Animator, but tread lightly because he apparently knows how to tie a knot.

Doha to Sydney to Auckland to Buenos Aires to London to Doha (48 hrs 10 mins)
Even though I am pretty late here, this is the best I could find:
You fly...
07th Sep 22 London -> Singapore -> Sydney [SQ305(09:25-05:30+) and SQ241(07:15+-16:55+)] = 22,50 hours / 17.152 km
08th Sep 22 Sydney -> Brisbane -> Los Angeles [QF542(17:35-19:05) and QF15(20:30-17:00)] = 17,09 hours / 12.306 km
08th Sep 22 Los Angeles -> London [VS142(18:05-12:25+)] = 11,41 hours / 8.750 km.
in total: 51,00 hours (incl. layover times) and 38.208 km, so matching the FAI criteria of a minimum distance of 36.787,56 km.
Sam has some Oda level foreshadowing

After 4 years and 170’days, this information is finally useful in Jet Lag- The Game

A bit nitpicky but the dot you put for Melbourne is actually Adelaide, hundreds of kilometres west of Melbourne

Planes are life, planes are love
That was a smooth transition to your sponsor, I'm impressed.
Wow today he actually tried to do this 4 years later
Already know this videos gonna be good
Keep em coming Wendover
Once Project Sunrise begins, you could fly Sydney to New York, New York to London, then London to Sydney. In what I calculated 50 hours. But I thought London to New York was 10 hours not 7. Depends on the time one flight arrives and another leaves.
3:15 why did you put Melbourne where Adelaide is?
hey, so who won? And what was their time?
what an amazing channel!
the content is on point, the transition between every part of the video is brilliant,
the motion graphics makes it really easy to follow what you say,
and of course your sexy french voice is like the cherry on top.
I noticed when you showed the journey of where the two Australians flew you placed Melbourne's location where Adelaide's location is. Not to be nitpicking I just live in Adelaide so it's easy for me to notice.
Just an FYI, you showed Melbourne as being where Adelaide is located. This is an egregious oversight as one of these is the home of all significant Australian culture, and the other is Adelaide...
I love the video to sponsor transitions at the end of your videos. Masterfully executed
it would be insane if someone tried to do this in a competition
“You should go and find the fastest route and submit it to me” who could have predicted that 4 years later he would be using said routes in a competition
wdym?
@@clayel1 he is using this concept in a series on the channel called “jet lag”
As soon as Singapore Airlines brings back SIA-NY direct flight with the A350-1000, things will be much easier...
Simply London - Singapore - New York - London
Using the old SA flight 21 (operated until 2013 with A340s) flight time , the total would be 13 + 18 + 7. That's a total of 38 hours. Add connection time and you can beat that record.
There's one problem in your strategy: You're 5000km short of the required distance. That's why the video mentions the detour to Mexico.
But you could do:
London-Dubai
Dubai-Shanghai
Shanghai-Singapore
Singapore-NY
NY-London
36,810km. Lots of flights between those hub destinations
Michael Garry that detours quite alot. Also SIN-new York isn't a route.
Urho The Human - Um, read the thread? We were talking about the renewed SIN-NY direct flight from SIA. Also, the detour is to get over the magic 36,600km rule - its as close as you can get to being a perfect number of KM - 36,810km according to the online flight distance website.
Michael Garry yes, and? Im talking about time here, not distance. That many stops cant do good due to the one hour stop rule
Apparently you can do it in about 4 days, unless bungee jumping is off limits in Singapore, in which case, you’ll wind up stranded with your hand in a puddle before desperately trying to search for non-existent local booze and losing everything on a roulette wheel. I’ll bet Sam’s still not bitter at all 😂😂😂
Your theory relies on United Airlines, which is a bit like the Seinfeld episode where George realizes his plan relies on Kramer
Would be cool if you did this with your friends in 100 hours and race to circumnavigate the world
0:44
Unless if flying back and forth while not crossing all timezones counts
Your transitions into your ads are so godly, that I ain't even mad when it pops up
Hey Half As Interesting I have just rewatched this great video again and thanks to the new(wish) non stop Qantas flight between London and Perth you can circumnavigate the world in 49hrs 30m, London - Perth - Melbourne - Los Angeles - London
Hell yeah, London to Sinagpore on the Concorde. I love Sinagpore
Hmm. The flight record is actually 31 hours, 27mins, 49 seconds in August of 1995. The flight began and ended at New York JFK and flew eastbound with stops in Toulouse, Dubai, Bangkok, Guam, Honolulu, and Acapulco.
Does it travel the required distance set by the FAI.
I love his aviation videos!
You could make this as a challenge with some of your friends/staff
It would be so funny if he actually tried this 😹
It would be even funnier if he did it as a collab with TH-camr peer RealLifeLore
QUESTION: During the time of that short-lived Concorde service betwixt London & Singapore via Bahrain, would it have been possible to connect, in London, to that flight from a transatlantic Concorde flight from New York to cut one's circumnavigation time even shorter by making an even larger portion of it consist of supersonic flight-time?
2:52
sinagpore
lmao well done
urghhh.. i hate how awesome the editing and graphics used in his videos. very well done and keeps people engaged.
This is my bet. It comes to about 48 Hours and 50 Minutes and 38622 Km- slightly north of the required number of kilometers but about 4 Hours and 44 Minutes above the record timing. It would mean a lot to find an itinerary that would match the record.

The link has been discontinued (understandably) but I'd be curious if the advent of the London-to-Perth route has reduced the minimum number of hours? It seems to me that a non-stop flight from London to Perth and a non-stop flight from Singapore to JFK would get us most of the way there in about twenty-two hours combined, and then it would come down to the smaller segments and the layovers.
I like this channel. +1 subscriber.
would be a shame if someone tried to catch the singapore-san francisco flight but couldnt afford it because of gambling
Can you do a video on what it takes legally and logistically to drive your car around the world. Seen a short video about a guy from Spain who drove from his home to Thailand, took a cargo ship ride to Alaska then drove to South America, then cargo ship to South Africa, then drove home.
I've been watching these videos for like a year and just realized I want subscribed. Fixed that
I wonder whether peoples entries for the competition in this video provided any useful information for the challenge against Wendover this year. Perhaps the pandemic has changed flight patterns too much for this to be useful.
Once the new Qantas direct flight from Perth to London comes in.
LHR - PER QF10 Leaves 1.30pm arrives 1.15pm +1 day
PER - MEL QF768 Leaves 3pm arrives 8.35pm
MEL- LAX QF95 leaves 9.40pm arrives 7pm woo hoo back in time!
LAX -LHR VS24 leaves 6.55pm arrives 3.10pm + 1 day
Total time 49 hours 55 mins!!
Probably better routes out there.
About 4000 USD round trip - who feels like spending 48 hours in economy class! (thats coach for our US friends)
If yu leave at 13:30 and arrive 15:10 you have to do 49h40m (not 49:55) but how you arrive at lax at 7pm and leave at 6:55??
oops well spotted- 15 less mins on plane
Had the wrong flight time on the LAX flight its 8:55 not 6:55 - to excited to spot typos
I thought of more or less the same thing, however, you won't make the QF768-QF95 connection. This route has you going through immigration at Perth, then changing terminals and back through immigration in Melbourne. Doesn't meet D-I min connection time at MEL.
QF10 is (will be) LHR-MEL via PER. The same aircraft does LHR-PER-MEL-LAX. Better to just stay on QF10 through to MEL, then through international connections and back onto the same aircraft for QF95 to LAX.
If a 40 minute connection at LAX was possible, AA136 could be used for LAX-LHR, but it isn't so would have to wait another 1hr 15 for VS24.
I did that too until i realised that we need to use routes that exist at this moment
I think is enogh you could buy a ticket for this route. and you can! Its announced and scheduled
