    I'm late to the party but I'm enjoying watching the build. I'm one of the guys who put money down on a Bede 5 in the 1970s but ended up getting my money back. I wish back country flying had been a thing back then!

    Big time acknowledgments to you for including your son! He will remember this for his whole life and later when he becomes a pilot he will have that passed down from his Dad confidence and pride. Well done.

    Great video!! I wish I had videos like this when we built a Kit Fox 2 back in the day. It would've been a VHS though. Lol. I hope everyone appreciates the value of this! With 193 likes 0 dislikes they probably do. Keep up the GREAT work!

    I'm about where you are with my build. It's super helpful getting a video tour of the stuff I'm working on and how it should look.

    Just wanted to say thank you for putting up info about your tail build. I just drove my own Kitfox down from Idaho last week and finished up my inventory. The next thing that I wanted to work on was the section that you just covered. Perfect timing! Thanks again and hope to follow along as you build.

    Hi Bryan, why use the microballoons? In the build manual, it says microballons is for when you want to glue two dissimilar metals together. Its to prevent the running of adhesive and the two metals from touching. Or is there something different I do not know? Thanks. Jez

    Really looking forward to this Apex build. I'm considering this to be a much more viable option that the 912 - I've used the 1k cc Yammi for years on motorcycles and sleds. It is a work of art and powerful as all hell. I want to put it on an aircraft as well, however - really want it to have dual ignition though.

    • @BowenAero
      @BowenAero  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The dual ignition is not a big concern for me, because this engine can run on just two cylinders and produce enough power to get it on the ground safely. It has 4 individual coils so really it has 4 ignition systems, although they do have a common source.

    Have you checked out or talked to Brett Larson on his TH-cam channel. Hes made himself a rx1 mount in his kit fox and seems to have a lot of useful information iv found. I'm really enjoying you're build. Iv got a dream to do this build and get in the air. Thanks for taking us along on your build.

    Love the build sofar. Have you considered what your going to use for coverings?
    Could you do a more detailed explanation of how the flaperon mixer works?

      Sure can, I will be using the PolyFiber system to cover.

    When you get to it in the build can you show how the adjustable pedals work? I've been trying to figure it out for a while to see if I can adapt it to a student project

    Purely hypothetical here, but it seems you may be a big man and I am interested in how you build out the cockpit and cabin to accommodating a large sized man. I am 6"2" and 230lbs.

    • @BowenAero
      @BowenAero  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really, I’m 5’10” and about 190lbs. I’m keeping the cockpit stock.

    Brian,
    I'll be traveling through Redding CA around the 10th of April; would you mind a short visit so I can see the kitfox in person? I'm leaning towards a Highlander but the kitfox is also on the list.

  • @randyvanvliet226

    Brian, you're killing me with those canyon cruises up and down the river... Which stream is, that, are there fly fishing opportunities along those rivers, or is it all private property? You do all potential KitFox owners a great service with these how to videos. I'm certain, once all and said and done, your KitFox build is going to be a back country monster with that Apex power to weight ratio, even in high density altitude. Even a small turbo at low boost that gives you 120 HP detuned with a wastegated turbo on that Apex would be a strong motor with reliability, to boot.

    • @BowenAero
      @BowenAero  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That was Cottonwood creek. Not sure about fishing it, sure looked good. Stock this engine will put out 140-150hp so a small turbo with low boost should produce 180-200hp with good reliability.

    • @randyvanvliet226
      @randyvanvliet226 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BowenAero What's your idea of low boost in psi above ATM?

    • @BowenAero
      @BowenAero  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Randy van Vliet about 4-6 psi. Sledders are seeing about 10hp per pound of boost out of this engine.

    • @randyvanvliet226
      @randyvanvliet226 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wonder how the boost will work at 10,000 ft density altitude, hot summer day up there in ID, to compensate for 4-6 PSI ASL ?
