Hey, keep up with your style of teaching. I'm not going to publicly bash the other popularly folks with the gimmicks, comedy, and not going into depth.... You teach like a professor. My friends ask how I am I progressing so fast. I mention you. I like how you break things down and go in depth. Keep it up! don't change. I try to like all of your videos so you'll be able to teach via youtube. I need teaching, not comedy.
It's not to say that you don't learn anything from the clowns, but it really annoys me, their fidgeting, the quick video cuts and all the posturing. Channels that I enjoy listening to and watching are this one and the one by Dan Hawkins. Talking Bass is the channel I like the most.
I really loved this lesson Mark! Change the rhythm and change the whole feel of the song. I've found that you don't need a lot of notes to get bodies moving. Thanks for sharing.
Very much looking forward to the new course drop. Such great structural analysis and simple concepts that immediately provide a pathway to competence in more complex and expressive lines and phrases. I’m hoping for further insights on creatively aligning these ideas with drummers and vocalists. In a band setting it’s vital that everyone understands and utilizes this knowledge. Another valuable contribution from Mark!
Really looking foward to the new course. Recently I've started coming up with more and more of my own riffs and music but actually remembering them I find difficult and also frustrating. More understanding of how this works will help my playing move foward hugely. Thanks Mark

@@talkingbasslessons Nice i am starting a Bass Channel too. I play Cover Stuff. Mostly simple Songs since i am a Beginner with 2 Years playing now. I learned Running Free finally. I struggled a bit with the Beat when i have to jump from the Groove to a fast Fill but i count it in my Head that works always. I am so stoked that i gotten this far by now since i have limited Time for Practicing. Love your Work and the Lessons.
I know you won't respond but I beg to differ but only because Chuck Rainey said years ago that first & foremost, the rhythm is more important. In a casual way he was hinting at the notes being easier to sus out. But the rhythm, now that's another ball game all together! Not trying to be smart or antagonistic in any way blah blah blah. Best wishes & thanks for all the work you do. 👍😊
@@ajadrew unsure what you mean. I didn’t say rhythm was less important. This lesson is based around rhythm (but bear in mind this is just one lesson of over 70 in the course)
@@talkingbasslessons I went on TH-cam & your video was in my subscribers list so i clicked on it. I stopped your video & typed my comment at 0:23! I'd remembered what Chuck said! I'm still learning 😊

Yeah don’t judge I learned to ply bass in 4 months from the gimmick comedy guy.

I feel the same way they are good videos but all the gimmick stuff ruins it.
Great class! Very articulate

Excellent lesson! I appreciate that you help us create music, not just play bass.
One of your best lessons Mark. Thanks!
Your new course is going to be great - I'm getting really excited about it!

Plus, it gives some contrast between the course and ‘now’

Great lesson. Joe Dart is a great example of a bass player who applies these concepts to create some seriously funky groves.🙏🏽
