thank you for the review @ThinkStory. I myself don't trust the writers. Unfortunately, I honestly think its Lost all over again. I'm out until the series is over and then I 'll come back to your channel to see if they answered the mysteries in your future review!
They all could of been marked to go there. For example when the wife saw the bracelet she made for her husband that was lost years back. Would not be surprised if season "2" goes more into their lives prior to arriving showing similar parallels. They all have something in common besides being lost in that town.
I saw a theory that the town requires a certain amount of characters. That's why when the car and the RV crashed bringing Jade, his friend, Tim, tabitha, ethan and his sister, the voice told Sarah to kill Jade's friend because he was not necessary, he was extra, everyone else from the crash replaced Kenny's dad, the nurse that took care of him, and the family that died in the beginning of the series. Then at the end of the series the bus stops at the diner potentially there to replace the ones killed during the Colony House massacre.
what i personally would like to know is how victor survived alone all this time as a child, he`s been here the longest but nobody seem to care to ask him, i mean except for jade everyone else seem to be fine living like this. nobody even asked where the talisman come from, they just accepted it. like if i build a wall around town and put some talismans can they enter the wall? if i make a weapon from a talisman can i damage the monsters? there is a lot they could have tried but everyone seem not to care.
Victor survive because he know where to hide with the teleport tree, I believe the boy in white must be help him out. They couldn't build a wall because lack of resources or tools to build the wall, and I don't think wall made from wood could stop the demon. Some more, survivors only got day time to figure out how to hide from those demon
@@darren5768 if u watched the series even a tent can stop them from entering if there is a talisman but its not about that since they live under the ground so they dont come from out of the town
"if i build a wall around town and put some talismans can they enter the wall?" - The problem is that sooner or later some idiot will let the monsters through the wall as it was in the colony. In addition, the organizers of the game will not be interested in it and they will adjust the rules.
I don’t think the voices talking to Sara are the monsters. The voice is watching everyone and knows everything, but the monsters don’t know where anyone is hiding. The Monsters aren’t watching the town during the day, they’re dormant. The boy in white, the monsters, the voices in Sara’s head, the voice on the radio, they’re all separate forces.
@@melissamissy5129omg I never thought about it like that Cus if u think about it the boy in white definitely do be tryna help them out which could ruin whatever them monsters got planned
@@melissamissy5129what if the little boy is the old man hanging in the wall. Some closed time loop kind of thing. Like Kang in the marvel univers, wherein he’s a child, a hero, a villain and then ultimately a multiverse villain figure almost force of nature.
@@Social_Pugatory I thought so too. I remember Sara saying to Boyed that he isn’t actually a young kid. But i don’t know how everyone missed this point.
I love the atmosphere of this show. Though personally, I truly loathe when a series have too many mysteries that are left unanswered by the end without knowing if it has been renewed or not. That's just a very sad design flaw and irritating that at this point, show creators should know better. At least answer some gosh darn it and satiate my hunger!
I truly enjoyed the mystery of the series in the beginning but halfway through, I realized a lot was happening whilst nothing important was happening at the same time. I finished the season but if Season 2 does not bring answers, it’s going to be a tedious watch.
Perfectly said. I felt like I had seen all of the character moments a million times, beat for beat. Teenager talks with parent about divorce, etc. Tons of off the shelf character driven scenes that didn't move anything forward.
My theory is that this is a game. Someone/something is placing the humans and the creatures there. The humans are provided with food, shelter, and other necessities for survival. They also get "powerups", like the talismans. The creatures also "powerup" when the humans gain an advantage, they can now speak instead of screaming. I think they've moved to the next level in the game, that's why there is a lighthouse and a new setting.
This is really a good theory. But the thing with the 'talisman' remind me of the 'cross' for vampires. I think they bring people to the town so they can feed off of them. They are like vampires. That's why they sleep during the day.
@@jaymarciano011 Actually based on the gruesome post mortem scenes the creatures seem to disembowel and eat them leaving a few limbs. Guess they prefer the meatier main course and skip the wings and legs.
It's possible it's a game but it doesn't have the usual game competition combat like in predator. It's possible there is no higher intellect being orchestrating this but it's a pocket dimension that thru thousands of years have existed as a kinda 'lost' world. There were those notes in a bottle one of them dating back 500 years. So that's it. A mystical lost ether world.
The show has promise which is why so many watched it to the end. However, the ending widen the mystery rather then explaining it. In my humble opinion there should have been at least 70% resolution and 30% mystery going into season "2". It feels like the show needed to be edited down a little, especially the ending with the bus. We don't need more characters with backstories, we need answers.
That's kinda what ruined "lost" a little. Although I liked the show overall, they just kept adding more and more mystery and intrigue while letting the fans wildly speculating and deciding on plot twists that no fan saw coming. In the end any explanation they could come up with just paled in comparison with the ideas fans had and it showed. The final explanations were kinda unsatisfying and the revelation that the smoke monster was just evil incarnate and the island itself was less of an odd geographic location and more akin to purgatory was rather bland. I really hope they can prevent the same development here... I hope they keep it exciting, keep adding to the mystery, but in the end don't ruin it with a cheap, spiritual explanation and give the explanation proper thought. If the solution would be "It was purgatory all along... Again", then I'd regret having really gotten into this show.
Welcome to lost and this is exactly why is sucked. They created so many questions and the final answers where "magical" and lame.... I didn't know this was from the same people and now I expect nothing. I wasted years watching lost and the ending and final answers were so bad.
I haven't watched much of it, but from the trailer alone and the connections to "lost" I feel like this might just be an expanded version of one of those videos that says "keep watching until the end, you won't believe what happens next" and it keeps dragging on forcing you to watch it
The bus could be an answer. That the town needs a specific number of people. Whenever people die, the same number of new people show up. The bus could be a replacement for those that died at colony house.
This show had me on an emotional roller coaster where my feelings were all over the place. I went from mad, sad, angry, tearful, empathy and all of the above. The Sci fi series "From", is just incredible beyond belief. A definite 10/10 overall. I can't wait for season 2 to kick off because I need some serious answers.
I wish the towns people would try and capture one of the monsters somehow. Kinda like in GOT when they captured a white walker. I'm curious to what happens to the monsters when the sun comes up.
With the monsters only walking, it may be possible to trap one of them? Even still, the two people got caught in the front section of the apartment building: What happened to the monsters that were inside the rest of the house?
I wonder if people have the patience and attention span for a show like this nowadays. A lot of people complain there aren't more answers but for me I find that just gets my imagination going and I love savouring over a mystery. Yes season 2 needs to begin to reveal more, but for now I'm happy. The only thing I would have liked more in season 1 is another scene or two with the monsters in the middle of the season. Even just them knocking on the windows or bothering people
They’re making a salems lot remake this year so if that fails we have that to fall back on. They could have did a lot more with the monsters but this has Stephen king vibes all on it
Same thoughts too! However I can understand that people probably also wanted more answers out of fear that this series could have easily been one of many TV series that gets dumped after the first season (which has unfortunately been common for most TV shows when they fall flat on marketing). However, we do luckily have season 2 coming in (just discovered this series while watching a trailer for season 2)! ^^
They are undoubtedly trapped in a town: I think it's insane for them to dismiss any theories as to why. Pocket universe? Maybe. Purgatory? Could be. Why in the world would anyone tell another person they're wrong. The second I circle back for the 4-5th time, I ain't ruling a damn thing out.
Guys guys guys, I have a theory. I think the portal which connects this realm with the actual worlds opens every day for a certain amount of time because that's how those radios can get sudden signals. If that happens then people can get back through the same road on that certain time, they just have to do everything in reverse order or something .
I also thought it was interesting that Kristie said she hasn’t been further than Grand Rapids, then a Grand Rapids bus shows up. I live in Grand Rapids MI so it was super dope to hear my town. Detroit is usually the only city named in MI.
This show is awesome ❤ I realize that when you listen to Ethan keeps mentioning that this town is a quest. I remember how the preacher was talking about the books only go up to 5th to 6th grade reading level. I feel like in a way it could be possible the people are in this Labyrinth game that explores the depths of their subconsciousness.
It could be like an escape room thing to see if you can get out with all the creatures trying to eat you. A puzzle box in a town that existed for thousands of years as other travelers going back 500 years left notes in a bottle confirm many people were trapped here like a mystical ether realm.
This show has a lot of similarities to LOST in more ways than we think… literally so many similarities. Victor - Ben/Locke, Jim/Boyd - Jack, Jade - Sawyer, Ethan - Walt etc etc. Then there’s the caves with writing, good v evil, ‘Others’ that were there before, lighthouse, not being able to escape their ‘island’, monster/monsters…
Technically she didn't "recognize" her, she stopped because the monster said her name. None of them "looked" as people they knew before. If you guys recalled, the little girl in the first episode told the old lady she "didn't look like" her grandma.
There are 2 Questions that I think might be important later in the Show. Why do the Monsters used to SCREAM before the Trapped People started to use the Talismans (Before Boyd found them and brought them to The Town)? And why after they stopped Screaming and started WHISPERING?
It's logical. Before, nothing stopped the monsters from finding and killing the survivors because the Talismans hadn't yet been found, so they screamed because why not. After though, they aren't able to kill people because they have talismans that prevent them from doing so (for whatever reason, we don't know yet). In order to lure them out easier, they started whispering instead of screaming. Just think about it: Would a child open a door to a screaming monster or a whispering, friendly non-threatening person? That was my thinking behind it at least.
It's easy answer. Before the monsters would do as they like... You know scream and say I'm counting to 10 u better hide.. If u have someone in a box and know they can't escape u can tease them.. When the found the talismans the monster rather come in silence cause they know they might not get anyone to kill for the night so they taking them serious now
also, screaming makes people scared. Scared people do dumb, erratic shit. People with a legitimate barrier between themselves and imminent danger also act erratically but not even remotely as much as one facing it head on. Effectively, the monsters were initially scaring people into being idiots and running around, making them easy prey. Once the walls went up, they would have found that being calm and reassuring, much like a captive animal, would have secured better results for people with protection. Like if youre faced with an enemy behind an impenetrable wall, you're significantly more likely to entertain the idea of letting it in if they're like "hey, its okay, you don't have to worry. I know you're scared but everything will be fine. I promise. Just let me inside and i can help" than if they're just screeching like banshees lmao
The early creatures were less evolved back in the day and hunt like wolves. Almost like wild animals. But later on they've evolved and developed more cunning methods to hunt to get past the talisman. They started using mind games to trick you into seeing long loved ones to get you to open the door. So no need to howl and screen anymore. These creatures are using mind powers and trickery to disguise themselves while they eat you so you don't see their true monstrous form. Makes it easier for them to hunt. Of course that begs the question how they got these powers.
I honestly hope they up the crazy next season, cut down on the monologues, and even answer a few questions. I don't mind more questions, but answer some at least. The first episode was so much better than the rest, i feel.
I didn't see it the first time but with a closeup of that globe picture - you can clearly see Victor used a darker crayon to color beneath the houses, joining them all up in a cave beneath everyones houses. This clearly represents the place where the monsters sleep in during the day. Then there's the spider surrounded by raindrops - when the sherrif was camping out in the forest he was transported overnight into a web infested forest and around that time a huge storm (which is the first incident of rain we've seen in the story) just so happens to occur over the town. This seems to concur that the place they're living in exists within repeating cycles - Victor who has been here the longest also says "it's happening / starting again" implying that the events he has drawn in his crayon pictures hold some key to understanding or representing the events that are to come. If there's any chance of getting out of that dimension it almost certainly lies within doing something to break that cycle. But how do you prevent something from happening if you don't know what that thing is; nor do you know if your actions merely adhere to the cycle rather than oppose it.
Just finished binging Season 1, absolutely brilliant. Hadn't heard a thing about it before that. A hidden gem.. I've also hid from theories, till night came and you opened the window.
I really enjoyed the show until episode 10. It had so many interesting threads; The threat of the creatures, their origins, the purpose of the town, it's location, how people get there (and how they are stuck there), the little boy in white, the voices speaking to Sarah, the mysterious electricity, the fact animals exist in the town and so many other little mysteries. It was more then enough to keep the show going for a long time... but they're doing what they did in Lost all over again and just ignoring the answers the audience has been watching for and instead giving more questions and throwing much more insanity into the mix, half of which likely also won't ever be answered or explained (or just won't really make sense and contradict with later information). Lost was really good to start with. Or at least people thought it was before they realised it was just bloating with constant new (and usually dumb or pointless) mysteries while providing very few answers- most of which were unsatisfying or just existed to attempt to justify unneeded plot points. I'm actually gutted that this series is seemingly heading that direction after such a strong start in the first half of the season. I honestly don't care about underground tunnels, lighthouses, giant spiders in the woods, buses of people, creepy omnipotent voices on the radio etc because it just reminds me of Lost throwing in smoke monsters, polar bears, "the others", the bunker etc. Same shit, new paint. This better not be another "We were in purgatory the whole time and it's just unexplainably weird, y'know?". I have to wait until season 2 starts before I can decide if this is something I drop now or whether the writers actually know what they are doing this time and I'm mistaken.
Spot on.. they are repeating history with this one. Lost was only supposed to be 2 seasons, but because of popularity they expanded it to 8 if I remember, while still keeping the original ending they had planned from the beginning. So basically the rest they made up as they went along with no intention of ever giving a real explanation for any of it
Dude it's been one season, for all you know they have a full explanation and satisfying conclusion mapped out - to start revealing answers in season one of ANY tv show would be just ridiculous
It's funny that all the fucking times someone said or is afraid that this show could be finish without answers and become Lost 2.0, give always wrong answers to the mysteries explained at this one like "it was a purgatory"and shits like that. These people for the majority in reality didn't watch the entire show or didn't understand the finale. And now same with From. It's sad, but probably this is because there is no more the fancy to watch true mystery shows that require patience and lovenes to learn the characters and empathize with them very slowly. Infact the real defect of the show(and not complaints like in the comment above from those who don't know how to appreciate how a television show of this kind is built) is that he hasn't the typical 24-episode structure of the classic and old-fashioned horizontal series, because for the very diluted time given to the characters and their evolutions and the force to don't satisfy the consumerist and impatient public by not giving them easily "openable" mysteries it suits home very much with his intentions. This is probably because with only 10 episodes the events and the typical philosophical topics covered are not substantial enough and for some this turns into a bit weak result. Remains the fact that for those who love these atmospheres and series that focus on mysteries and characters in a classic way, with a solid addition of horror, this show is almost a must watch
Lost’s biggest mistake was training people to think it wasn’t going to give them any answers. Once it had an ending it was freely handing out answers and people were just like eww no more mysteries. They 100% weren’t in purgatory or dead but in order to understand what did happen you need to have incorporated information from a bunch of different open ended answers and nobody did that.
@@jayk8424 old tv shows ran as long as the ratings were good. The writers had no control over how long they would have to stretch out the story for until about mid way through season 3.
One thing i noticed from watching episode with boyd's wife, is that she clearly seemed to have sone kind of PTSD or something BEFORE they started living in the town
It's an adaptation of old Irish folklore about a malevolent form of fairies called the Sluagh. They are doomed former human souls who prey upon people who's lives are in turmoil, by luring them into these places where one one world connects to another (such as the forest in the show) & hunt their prey at night, often taking the form of crows or ravens (as seen in the show).
I'm pretty convinced that the monsters are Skinwalkers and wherever they are is part of some sort of Native American curse. If you look up stories about Skinwalkers from Native culture you'll find that 3 consistent characteristics are their ability to shape-shift, their tendency to pose as loved ones or ppl you know which leads to the last one being that according to the stories they have to pretend to be ppl you know because they can't enter a home without being invited in.
Negative, this in fact is based on Norse mythology. The ravens the tree symbology, the whole Ethan literally discarding his Crutch and using a stick in the same fashion as The All Father. The creatures are Trolls, they go into hiding once day hits, they literally live in a cave underneath the town. The talismans have Norse runes on them, I could go on.
@@mjolnirmilitia569 OK, I said that a year ago, before the caves and I had just finished the show for the first time. It was a guess. I'm sure there are a number of mythological elements at play here.
This vid correctly guessed about Kristi's fiance's arrival, well done. Quite glad Boyd pardoned Sara and believed that her connection to the town is important.
I really liked this series BUT there were some parts that draaaaaaged. A couple of the characters absolutely annoyed me, so much I prayed they would get eaten. Finally, I agree that the ending was a bit anticlimactic. It hasn't really left me excited for season 2, it's left me annoyed that NOTHING was ever remotely explained. We need something, it just ended 😐
This is how I felt. I was more annoyed than anything. Like the arrogance of them to think they could "Lost" their way through this show. And now we gotta wait a year just to possibly get no answer at the end of S2. I don't like the direction this show might be heading.
I’m curious what characters you’re talking about because I feel the same lmao. Other than that you’re completely right, you can’t tease and explain absolutely nothing it makes the show less impactful. This also puts the show in danger of being one of those classic shows that has constant teases with little answers until it becomes a total mess.
So glad you have covered this amazing show, which seem to not have been any hype about and ignored by the general viewing public. Although I hear it has a high critic's score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Has anyone wondered about the dream Tabitha had where she was coming up the basement stairs, then it turns into old spiral stairs that are seemingly made out of rock (a lighthouse perhaps)? She gets to the top and Jim is hanging upside down screaming, then she wakes up. But what really got my attention was the list of 4 digit numbers written in the rock wall in the background when she looked up at upside down, hanging Jim. They seemed like year dates. I paused and found numbers (some harder to read than others) 1506, 1609, 1672, 1715, 1752, 1833 (could be 1888), 1864, 1931 and 1978 written in random spots on a wall behind Tabitha. My theory is 1931 is the year Martin (old man hanging on the chains in S1E1) ended up in the town, while 1978 could be the year Victor came to town. Other than that, I think these numbers hold a major key to the mystery of this place. If anyone else has a theory about this they want to share or add on, be my guest.
The Sluagh (Irish: [ˈsˠl̪ˠuə], Scottish Gaelic: [ˈs̪l̪ˠuəɣ]; Old Irish: slúag; English: 'host, army, crowd'), or Sluagh na marbh ('host of the dead'), were the hosts of the unforgiven dead in Irish and Scottish folklore.
I binged this show in a day and loved it! Then that last shot at the end of the season now has my anxiety raised. Fear of no second season. As of now it has not been canceled nor picked up for a 2nd season. Please don't pull a Wayward Pines on us. Invested only to be so let down that it ended with no answers.
I thought of Wayward Pines too, what I learned from that show is that once an intriguing mystery like this reaches a point of being half or more explained it sort of becomes passé. I’ll definitely be watching as much From as they can fish out at me though, just like I did with WP.
Hey don't knock wayward pines as it's friggin dope and they gave the reveal and all the answers and had a great second season so didn't leave us hanging. But as always often the setup is more intriguing than the reveal so even with no second season it's still a great first season.
But they cancelled Archive 81 after one season which has a similar mystery setup. Also another same type of show is Outer Range about a worm hole in some dude's backyard ranch that transports people back and forth thru time. It's also dope. LoL
The moment I saw the scene of the old lady in the window and the little girl I was hooked on this show. Idk about what other people think but to me this scene was a masterpiece of horror. The monsters in this show are to me examples of the perfect monster for a show or movie. They capture the primal fears of so many of us especially children. The fear of the dark, of strangers, that little bit of protection children think they get hiding under the blanket almost relates to the talismans being hung by the windows to protect everyone when something like that seemingly would never work when all there is is a thin window of glass separating you from a gruesome death. I also love how they don’t shy away from the sheer gore and torture. The mangled bodies in the aftermath of the attacks shows you just how evil these things are and it’s exactly what I as a child always imagined monsters would do to someone if they were caught. I truly hope they don’t make the mistake of revealing every secret about these monsters and this place. I think the scariest thing about monsters is the mystery of not knowing much about them, what they are or why they do what they do. It’s so much scarier to think that these things just kill and torture people because they simply are evil instead of them having some secret agenda. The mystery of the unknown and the unexplainable will always be the best part of horror.
Oh how I hope your hopes are not happening lol watching hours of something without getting any sense of why and how everything's happening is just Lost 2.0. a convoluted mess of backstories and unanswered mysteries and in the end "it's all about the people" smh
I'm loving this show. I'm hoping they are least give us a season 2 and wrap everything up. I'm so sick of getting into a new show, loving it for it to not get renewed or it ends on a cliffhanger. I don't think it's fair to the viewers who take a chance on new shows or who watch shows for years to have them get cancelled, not renewed or left on cliffhangers. I can't tell you how many shows I've invested time and energy into for them to not get renewed or get cancelled before things are wrapped up in some way.
@@erikhermansen3431 I suppose you're right but a number of series or shows get cancelled when they have a huge fan base and high viewership. The customers are paying for a service. If a series has a hit show with high viewership and everyone involved with the series would like to continue with the series - wouldn't it be smarter to continue it? Netflix cuts fantastic, high fan based that are bringing in viewers for so many shows that are much cheaper, no where near quality of others that don't work. You can see a majority of those shows don't work from the beginning. Wouldn't it be better to invest in the long time running series than pouring tons of money into random series with low quality & poor material hoping for a hit? Netflix will do whatever they are going to do but I can almost guarantee you they aren't going to last long if they continue cutting content that brought in viewers in the the first place and continue to raise their prices.
@@erikhermansen3431 I paid for a subscription service so I can watch a show that they advertised and now have invested hours into their product. They owe us everything. Their salaries don't come from thin air. It comes from viewers like me. Last I checked, this show wasn't free. I'm entitled to a 2nd season! I'm entitled to have the hours Ive invested into their show to be resolved and not left hanging. That's how you run a business. You satisfy your customers.
If they think they owe us nothing when we are paying to subscribe to their service, then people will act with that same attitude in return and think they owe the company nothing for their product and just watch pirated copys intead. The business and customer must keep a mutual respect for each other.
Well even without another season we can all conjure up our own answers. Usually with later seasons the reveal isn't as intriguing as the setup and almost always disappoint. Another good show just like this I liked is Outer Range. Similar concept a worm hole on some guy's ranch transports people back and forth thru time. But that's more time travel with no creatures whereas this is another pocket dimension. Another great show exactly like this is wayward pines about a group of people who enter a town and are trapped there and can't get out and nobody knows what's going on while creatures outside come to hunt them at night. It's almost a copy of this show and it's awesome but it only ran for two amazing seasons. Plus one more great show is Archive 81 which is a great first season but didn't get renewed. Still I enjoyed it and it's worth a watch even without another season.
I think Ethan is special. First, they mention how it hasn’t happened in a very long time that two cars come basically together. Also, in the beginning when they tie up Ethan’s mom and sister, that creepy guy said to Ethan’s sister that she’s special and mentioned the two cars. Someone in that family is an important key.
I think the dead are still trapped there too. Either they come back as the monsters or some other way, like Boyd’s wife talking to Sara. I also wonder if people tried passing the tree instead of turning around if it would make a difference. So far it seems like everyone has turned around when they got to the tree because it’s too big to move. If someone went passed it what would happen?
It wasn't Boyd 's wife talking to Sara. What's talking to her knows about everybody. It knew about the priest story with the child, it knows about Boyd's nickname, it knew people were arriving the town. Whatever it is it seems to be omniscient about that people and the place.
The mysterious plot with the final frame at the end with the lighthouse was very VERY reminiscent of the lore of the game series "The Evil Within" and I'm so happy )))))
I'm still strong believe episode 10 wasn't the season finale. It doesn't feel like a finale. And even lools like there were re shoots. Boyd's beard and Victor's hair looks very different from (not pun intended) previous episodes. Probably (like it happened with Doom Patrol) they were on the need to push the last episode of first season to the first of the second. I don't believe they're dead nor they're trapped by aliens. I'm mostly towards the theory of a pocket universe, but I got very curious about how come all inhabitants are FROM all opposites parts in the U.S.A Bartender Tom's IS the voice! But who (or what) he is... no clue So, I think that episode 10 was the construction for the season finale, and maybe there was one more episode (maybe two) with a HUGE twist at the end. I just cannot keep away the idea that all people with mental issues are kind of connected to the place. Sara, Abby, Jade even Ethan. They all have this kind of connection between them and "the voices" on a different level, those who heard, those who don't but can "see". And I don't think the boy in white is "helping", all the contrary. My bet is in him manipulating those who are "weak" (that's why he didn't appear in front of Jade) Eagerly awaiting for season 2 Gonna be a LONG wait
Incredible show. I am hooked. This show is a mystery but at least they don't hide the monsters until the last 5 minutes of the last episode. This is not a slow burn you see the monsters 5 minutes. I like that. Also Tabatha is hot as hell.
Just finished binging this series and this is a great analysis. One big problem I had was with the characters complete lack of questioning the workings of the talismans. Hopefully it will be explained in the future, but if the characters arent questioning or experimenting with the functions of their one safety object, it just feels like theyre stupid or the writing in the show is just bad. Do the talismans only work if theyre the OG stones from the cave? What would happen if you just carve or paint the symbol into every wall in your house. Imagine a fence around the city and the symbol on the talisman is carved along the edges. Or a talisman on each door. There are so many applications and possibilities with the talismans that could be explored but instead they just take it at face value and dont even try to further their knowledge. Seems kind of ridiculous that NOONE in the whole town would think of these basic questions and if they have, it should be addressed and debunked. I am on board for a next season but I hope that a lot of the questions you brought up are addressed. I dont want to deal with another Lost situation where the writers clearly dont have the answers to the questions and they are just duct taping their story together with mystery as they go on.
Some overall questions / observations: Why does it take Boyd so long to try and leave again? He says the first campsite was a far as he had been before. Was he waiting for Kenny to mature to where he could take over? Was he waiting for someone like Sarah appear. Also, why did it take Boyd's arrival for farm stock to found and talismans (and why were they way out in the woods guarded by a wolf that leads Boyd to them?) Are the hallucinations actually replays of past cycles? The petroglyphs in cavern below house show story of people arriving by ship to the area, very ago, if one thinks these are Vikings or early colonist which is possible) And how much more does Victor know being the survivor of the previous cycle? Far Away Trees, The Creature's Den and glimpses of the future. It seems the whole thing seems to center on Boyd, Sarah , Victor, Ethan and Ethan. The last two also being the only ones who can Vox Smith, the boy in white whom has been around since Victor was a child. I know there are several theories about the creatures - aliens, vampires and many others. But if we keep this supernatural, perhaps they are past "survivors" from previous cycles. So, let me posit something based on the cavern petroglyphs. Assume the 1st people to come here, on the boats, were the 1st colonist from places like England, Spain, etc. to the new world. Maybe we are even at Roanoke. Unable to survive by raising food, the succumb to cannibalism, ultimately being possessed by Wendigo spirits. Forever cursed to walk the area of the town as cannibalistic creatures of the night. How they developed a way to isolate the area and bring in fresh meat is unknown as of yet. Finally, the tour bus. Who or what is on it, if anything? More people, in masse? Monster hunters? MIBs or is it empty and the way out.
Just to answer ur first question Boyd took so long to leave because he was unaware that talismans worked outside a house. So that stone hut he found was the farthest he could make it out of town before it got dark
Nice work as always. Reddit had a fun theory that the dates are all mass death/massacre/loss of live events I hope they give more answers in season 2, they better have an "all answer" episode ready as I can't stand when mystery shows end without giving us solid answers.
Great video man!!! I agree they need to give some answers next season of there is one.I also thought I was the only one that noticed they already kind of showed the lighthouse with Jim's wife walking up it with Jim hanging at the top.You actually noticed a lot of stuff many didn't.That is why I was waiting on this video, thanx man 😁😁😁😁😁😁
I am looking forward to season 2. But I really hope they address a lot of the issues in this first season. I think the premise and production/setting is well done. Other then that though I don't have much hopes for the show. For the most part the acting is just so-so with the exception of Harold Perrineau who absolutely crushed it and for me personally he was the main saving grace of the show. To me the biggest issues with the show other then being a "Blue ball mystery" with no sort of pay off the entire season, has got to be the writing and the characters. There were a couple characters I enjoyed but most of them I just found flat and boring. Even after 10 episodes if you killed off like 97% of the characters on the show, I wouldn't really give 2 sh* and I think a large part of that has to do with the character writing and especially the dialogue. For such a character and dialogue driven show I think they are both pretty atrocious. But like I said BECAUSE of Harold Perrineau and the initial premise I'll give season 2 a chance.
Couldn't agree more. I found myself fast forwarding through a lot of the scenes where it's just characters talking about predictable interpersonal bullshit. With such an interesting premise it's a missed opportunity for dialogue that goes beyond surface level trite conversation.
agreed. It's gonna piss me off when they probably aren't renewed because no one watches epix. It has so many great things going for it with great acting. They better make season 2 happen
I think Nathan was right about the town pushing back if you try to escape. I think they’re being watched by the creatures and they enjoy toying with the residents (kinda like a cat playing with its prey before eating it). From when Kenny told Boyd that it’s only a matter of time before they run out of places to hide, also the voice on the radio mocking them. It’s like giving them hope and then ripping it from them for it’s amusement. The bus arriving at the end just shows that the cycle is about to continue and there’s actually no way out
I saw a movie years ago called, Disappearance (2002) with a similar plot, somewhat. This was a family on road-trip, on the way home, they detour to visit an old mining town and not to give too much away, I’ll just say, they somewhat meet a fate as these people. Very eerie back in the day.
Great breakdown. But you're right, I have more questions about this show at the end than I did at the beginning and they didn't answer anything. They got to tell some type of story with a wrap up, instead of bringing in new questions
This show feels very much 'on the Beam' as in Stephen King's Dark Tower universe. Maybe just before the tree is a thinny, that would also explain the crows.
at 6:46 you speak about the Paintings done by the Monsters and you mention what appears in the Paintings as a Demarcated Line-acting as a Threshold in the middle of the River. I think that it is NOT part of the Drawing but one of the Electrical Wires hanging from above. If you check it in the Episode especially how the Light is reflecting on it you will agree too. It needs some persistence though because this Wire is only shown for a Fraction of a Second.
Ok- when you were talking about the demarcation of how people arrived to the town….. it looks like a tree not just a line! So we could imagine that the tree that everyone arrives to before trying to "turn around" to go around it is very significant! Perhaps the first people (monsters) who arrived tried to block the way for others with this big tree without understanding that once inside the “pocket dimension” there was no way around or out! Just some thoughts lol
The little boy probably created the town to the best of his understanding to protect the stranded. That'd explain the electricity, and the use of symbol stones, and the tree-portals. They are possibly in Fairyland!👁.lol That'd explain everything! Of course they'd use a fallen tree to abduct Humans. Fairy folk/Fae etc were the 'aliens' of today, and did pretty much did the same kinda things in an old perception. The lighthouse is possibly the Fairy ring/spaceship which lures rather than wards, Humans in the physical realm entry into Fairyland. The 'little boy' shows no signs of being Human at all, hence playing around in a street of dead Humans with Victor. He seems to help avoid deaths simply to stop a foreseen event. IMO 'he' is a old fairy (stop it!) who took the mind of a child to understand Humans & their world. The lighthouse maybe luring the reincarnated souls of the Fairy & Human first encounter on those ships. The flashbacks may be memories of each period they were there in Fairyland, and failed some task. OR the Humans drawn there are actually Fairy-folk who tried escaping the realm? I bet it's even crazier than that in season 2!YAY!
Seriously great observations! Let’s not forge, as you pointed out fairies/aliens; in the old days it was often Demons, as an alternative to fairies. You know, sleep paralysis was often seen as demon stuff rather than alien abduction. I mention this because the Demon angle would plan to the Purgatory/hell idea.
@@MFLimited I recon 'aliens' are the Fae, so am biased towards that angle. But I hope the writers go that way. It'll be very interesting on so many levels (to me anyway.lol). The Fae are not demonic, but are some kinda Nature entities. As with Nature, they are apathetic towards Human Nature, but HIGHLY concerned with reproduction, flower pollination etc. I'm guessing that the night monsters are the Demons who are invading that realm. They possibly are turning it into purgatory. They can't help themselves. To me it's a 'What if Fairfolk had a war with Demons?' scenario. THAT hasn't been done!🤠
There is another question that how did Tabita's husbands bracelet ended up in the town. My theory is that they are in the simulation bcz the thing seemed to balance such as people dying and new people arriving , if you try to escape the town pushes back. Looks like some kind of giant experiment but I ,ight be wrong bcz it does not explain the road tree and talisman. the electricity is big mystery . The only constant is the road tree and ravens. The effectiveness of talisman and at some point I think everybody has discovered the forest dog which eventually leads to the boy in white.
Your theory reminds me of the hunger games. When Katniss got close to the edge of the arena, the game makers pushed back with those fireballs. They also adapted the game to the circumstances, similar to how the monsters started whispering when Boyd found the Talismans. So maybe its simulation like that
Was hoping you would do this. Thank you so much. I loved the beginning of the show but once it got to episode 6 I started to worry that we will not be getting any definitive answers whatsoever. Made me feel somewhat frustrated, hate having to wait a whole year to get the same result at the end of season 2 if they choose to drag this out. Severance on the other hand did exactly the opposite. Kept me intrigued and gave explanations moving forward. I truly think it is the best show to come from apple +. From could have the potential if they didn’t throw that bracelet discovery, spider in, kill off the priest etc too many things going on and not any clarity. I will watch season 2 but with apprehension especially if we are left more confused. Thanks again for your amazing videos. ❤️

You're breakdowns are incredible. Thank you so much for your content. Think Story is a national treasure.
What about the boy Ethan why did they tell her to kill him
That doesn’t sound like a good fit to me but I see what you’re saying.

like if i build a wall around town and put some talismans can they enter the wall?
if i make a weapon from a talisman can i damage the monsters?
there is a lot they could have tried but everyone seem not to care.
It's a movie
Weapon from the talisman is good.

Monsters aren’t watching the town during the day, they’re dormant. The boy in white, the monsters, the voices in Sara’s head, the voice on the radio, they’re all separate forces.

That finale was garbage. I’m getting that unfulfilled LOST vibes.
This is why I really enjoyed Severance on Apple+. It felt like it was giving a good balance of answers and questions.
Agreed! You'd think being 10 episodes in they would reveal a few more things. This is a very long build up.
@Sal I can explain the leftovers to you if you truly want that. But it kind of ruins the point of the show. Ask me anything.
Wayyyyy too many balls in the air with zero explanation for any of it.
I truly enjoyed the mystery of the series in the beginning but halfway through, I realized a lot was happening whilst nothing important was happening at the same time. I finished the season but if Season 2 does not bring answers, it’s going to be a tedious watch.
Totally agree
same got bored episode 5 to last episode :3
Agreed!
Perfectly said. I felt like I had seen all of the character moments a million times, beat for beat. Teenager talks with parent about divorce, etc. Tons of off the shelf character driven scenes that didn't move anything forward.
There is a season 2 lmao
My theory is that this is a game. Someone/something is placing the humans and the creatures there. The humans are provided with food, shelter, and other necessities for survival. They also get "powerups", like the talismans. The creatures also "powerup" when the humans gain an advantage, they can now speak instead of screaming. I think they've moved to the next level in the game, that's why there is a lighthouse and a new setting.
Whoa! This is probably the best theory I've seen so far.
Bs theory
And more depth, more curiosity, to the characters as well.
It's an ok tv series for me.
I mean mobs actually have suoer strenght and speed once they show their true form so its kinds hard

I was definitely left with more questions than answers, but I'm excited to see what is revealed in season 2.
Tabatha woke up in the re world so season 3 waiting

They are undoubtedly trapped in a town: I think it's insane for them to dismiss any theories as to why. Pocket universe? Maybe. Purgatory? Could be. Why in the world would anyone tell another person they're wrong. The second I circle back for the 4-5th time, I ain't ruling a damn thing out.
Guys guys guys, I have a theory. I think the portal which connects this realm with the actual worlds opens every day for a certain amount of time because that's how those radios can get sudden signals. If that happens then people can get back through the same road on that certain time, they just have to do everything in reverse order or something .
We have to wait 😅
Imagine if literally just reversing your vehicle at 2:42 pm is the solution lmao
Or am, maybe you can escape at night on the road
@@RickzrolledThat'd kinda make sense since monsters come out at night
OMG I was thinking the SAMETHING since the beginning. Glad someone else thought of it too
I also thought it was interesting that Kristie said she hasn’t been further than Grand Rapids, then a Grand Rapids bus shows up. I live in Grand Rapids MI so it was super dope to hear my town. Detroit is usually the only city named in MI.
Cool…..My husband went to college in Grand Rapids!
Excepting true crime stories and documentaries. Flint is frequently featured in those.
Those of us who live outside of Michigan hear about "The Big 3" a lot: Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Flint.
Grand rapids is an awesome town and it's great they include Easter eggs of these towns instead of the usual.
I only knows Grand Rapids for it's cover of American Pie and a map on Cities Skylines... And I live across the Atlantic. How's your city so famous ?
This show is awesome ❤ I realize that when you listen to Ethan keeps mentioning that this town is a quest. I remember how the preacher was talking about the books only go up to 5th to 6th grade reading level. I feel like in a way it could be possible the people are in this Labyrinth game that explores the depths of their subconsciousness.
It could be like an escape room thing to see if you can get out with all the creatures trying to eat you. A puzzle box in a town that existed for thousands of years as other travelers going back 500 years left notes in a bottle confirm many people were trapped here like a mystical ether realm.
IT IS VICTORS MIND. HE IS TRAPPED INA DREAM. THE BOOKS; THE ELECTRICITY WORKING AS A KID HIS AGE THINKS. HIM LIVING FOREVER EVEN BEFORE TALISMANS.
I’m so happy season 2 comes out next month, can’t wait to binge it
It's today 😊
Unfortunately they are not releasing all of the season
This show has a lot of similarities to LOST in more ways than we think… literally so many similarities. Victor - Ben/Locke, Jim/Boyd - Jack, Jade - Sawyer, Ethan - Walt etc etc. Then there’s the caves with writing, good v evil, ‘Others’ that were there before, lighthouse, not being able to escape their ‘island’, monster/monsters…
It's Lost made for a new generation.
Surely Boyd is most like Michael 😂
The producers from lost are the same for from
Jade - hugh Jackman 😂
Same guy who made lost made this show so you can bet he's recycling old ideas and selling us refried beans. But hey that's cool. LoL
Is no one gonna talk about Julie recognizing one of the monsters in the starting at the door of Colony House ?
Technically she didn't "recognize" her, she stopped because the monster said her name. None of them "looked" as people they knew before. If you guys recalled, the little girl in the first episode told the old lady she "didn't look like" her grandma.
Julie: "Did we go to hs together?"
She’s a storywalker
When the found the talismans the monster rather come in silence cause they know they might not get anyone to kill for the night so they taking them serious now
thank u I just watched the movie without watching the movie 🤣🤣
also, screaming makes people scared.
I think this is a huge piece of the puzzle. I haven't watched season 2 yet but this is close I think
Just finished binging Season 1, absolutely brilliant. Hadn't heard a thing about it before that. A hidden gem.. I've also hid from theories, till night came and you opened the window.
You opened the window and let them in.
@@justindza That's true enough.

I enjoyed every minute of watching Lost. I hope they keep this series going cuz I am digging it.
I enjoyed in this tv show, one of the best mystery shows I watched, I like whole eerie vibe of it. I really hope this show will have multiple seasons.
Your answer makes so much sense
Yesss because the forest you can further but the roads loop
😮
Ugh I hope that’s not the case for this boring and predictable
One of the best shows hands down
That is a wild overstatement but you do you
I'm pretty convinced that the monsters are Skinwalkers and wherever they are is part of some sort of Native American curse.
I’m thinking the exact same thing
Negative, this in fact is based on Norse mythology.
The ravens the tree symbology, the whole Ethan literally discarding his Crutch and using a stick in the same fashion as The All Father.
The creatures are Trolls, they go into hiding once day hits, they literally live in a cave underneath the town.
The talismans have Norse runes on them, I could go on.
I think they are skinwalkers too. But some Norse mythology can work too.
@@mjolnirmilitia569 OK, I said that a year ago, before the caves and I had just finished the show for the first time. It was a guess. I'm sure there are a number of mythological elements at play here.
I kept thinking that somehow the land was cursed and plagues the inhabitants -maybe a curse of native american or norse origin.
Just finished it today and I want season 2 now
This vid correctly guessed about Kristi's fiance's arrival, well done. Quite glad Boyd pardoned Sara and believed that her connection to the town is important.
Been waiting for this ...THANKS
I really liked this series BUT there were some parts that draaaaaaged. A couple of the characters absolutely annoyed me, so much I prayed they would get eaten.
Finally, I agree that the ending was a bit anticlimactic. It hasn't really left me excited for season 2, it's left me annoyed that NOTHING was ever remotely explained. We need something, it just ended 😐
At least season 2 has been given the green light
This is how I felt. I was more annoyed than anything. Like the arrogance of them to think they could "Lost" their way through this show. And now we gotta wait a year just to possibly get no answer at the end of S2. I don't like the direction this show might be heading.
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣@ so much I prayed they got eaten
Julie drives me crazy, youre an angsty teen mad at your parents MAYBE PUT IT ASIDE CAUSE WE'RE STUCK IN A HELL DIMENSION WITH MONSTERS EATING PEOPLE
I’m curious what characters you’re talking about because I feel the same lmao.
Its on Epix. Nobody knows Epix. Should have been on Netflix.
I am so happy you made this!

It’s picked up
Forgot all about wayward pines. Great show
I thought of Wayward Pines too, what I learned from that show is that once an intriguing mystery like this reaches a point of being half or more explained it sort of becomes passé.
The mystery of the unknown and the unexplainable will always be the best part of horror.
great comment =)
Oh how I hope your hopes are not happening lol watching hours of something without getting any sense of why and how everything's happening is just Lost 2.0. a convoluted mess of backstories and unanswered mysteries and in the end "it's all about the people" smh

Thank you for covering this show! I loved it and was -secretly- hoping you would do an episode! Cheers from Honduras 🤗
"Not fair to the viewers" That's quite the entitled attitude. None of these production companies owe you anything.
Love this breakdown and love the show From! Thank you!
6:26 I think the F symbols in the cave are Faraway Trees or places for teleportation.
Season 2 is a must.
Thanks!
Thanks Troy!
What if someone actually moved the tree?
I'm mostly towards the theory of a pocket universe, but I got very curious about how come all inhabitants are FROM all opposites parts in the U.S.A
Bartender Tom's IS the voice! But who (or what) he is... no clue
So, I think that episode 10 was the construction for the season finale, and maybe there was one more episode (maybe two) with a HUGE twist at the end.
My bet is in him manipulating those who are "weak" (that's why he didn't appear in front of Jade)
Eagerly awaiting for season 2
Gonna be a LONG wait
Thanks, needed a recap before watching S02E01.
Slap answers out of writers 😂😂😂 made my day. Thanks fam!
Holy crap what a mental ride! I just binged the first season. I was not disappointed.
It has shades of wayward pines.
Those symbols that you said look like trees sure look like runes to me. Makes me wonder if Viking explorers were the first to encounter this.
Underrated gem the writers of lost is the only worry i have but i feel like they learned that lesson…but we will see
Incredible show. I am hooked. This show is a mystery but at least they don't hide the monsters until the last 5 minutes of the last episode. This is not a slow burn you see the monsters 5 minutes. I like that. Also Tabatha is hot as hell.
Yay finally!

After every episode of FROM I would run to your channel @Thinkstory and hope you had picked up this series!!!! And FINALLY!!!! THANKS DADDY!!!! 🤗🤗🤗💜💜💜
There was also to the very left a red drawing of the stone Hut where Boyd found the Talisman.
Some overall questions / observations:
Why does it take Boyd so long to try and leave again?
Sara Victor and Ethan are the Chosen Ones as they all saw The Boy in White.
I loved Lost. Every time it aired, we had great discussions at work. At one point, a coworker taped episodes so we could all watch it during lunch.

Loved the show! A perfect mix between Lost and The Walking Dead best seasons.
I liked Harold too. Agree that the show is sacrificing character for the sake of mystery.
Checkout Chaplewaite & War of the worlds series ALSO, both is really good & got renewed 2
@@SFBenjaminK chapelwaite was fuckin great
I think Nathan was right about the town pushing back if you try to escape. The bus arriving at the end just shows that the cycle is about to continue and there’s actually no way out
I agree, but I think there’s someone over the Creatures as the Puppet Master.
What they should do is start burning down the forest around them. Scorched earth the whole place
This had my attention from beginning to end! I cannot wait until season 2
I saw a movie years ago called, Disappearance (2002) with a similar plot, somewhat. This was a family on road-trip, on the way home, they detour to visit an old mining town and not to give too much away, I’ll just say, they somewhat meet a fate as these people. Very eerie back in the day.
This show is amazing! Victor and the kid are the smartest people in that town, then comes Jade!

There was a lighthouse in it
This show feels very much 'on the Beam' as in Stephen King's Dark Tower universe. Maybe just before the tree is a thinny, that would also explain the crows.
Thank man, so many questions...more every episode!
at 6:46 you speak about the Paintings done by the Monsters and you mention what appears in the Paintings as a Demarcated Line-acting as a Threshold in the middle of the River.
Interesting as the story the sister was telling Ethan in the beginning was about faeries.
The Snarky comments while reviewing is simply authentic and hilarious😂😂😂 What did I tell you Frank🤦👋😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

After watching season two, you’re really good!!!
I hope theres a season 2 because it is so good
By 0:16 seconds in I spewed my water onto my screen twice from laughing 🤣 hilarious
