I LOVE YOUR VIDEO! I just got a baby oscar a few days ago...he's the second one I have owned in my lifetime. I LOVE THESE FISH...I had no idea a fish could have so much character but these super intelligent cichlids are really amazing creatures.
I really enjoyed watching Stane. My wife and I bought our 7-year-old daughter an oscar a month or so ago. She named it "Oscar." We had no idea how smart these buggers are. It's a joy to watch Oscar. He is in a 2.5 gallon tank right now. Looks like we might have to put him in a larger tank if we expect him to grow.
Cool video! The Oscar is beautiful fish and it has so much character. I recently read about how the Oscar likes to move gravel around and "decorate" in his own way, then I see him doing so in your video :) Nice tank setup.
I'm just planning to buy a bunch of kids an aquarium and oscar fish for Christmas. What a video to watch at this time. Your video is very nice, neatly done and presented.
this has to be the best O video out there. i love all the footage of him moving everything in his tank around. lol... nice before and after too. my O is about the same size as Stane was.
you have a beautiful looking fish, with a very funny personality. lol. And an amazing tank. Good job. and arent they just so adorable when there small?
i love your fishtank! and you have one of the best oscars ive ever seen. i just got one and i wish i would have gotten him first so i could give him the tank to himself.
Really awesome fish. had one a few years ago that was maybe 13' or more. i used to feed him tadpoles, frogs, lizards and pellets so he grew quick. so now again i have a 75 gallon tank and a 3' oscar. best fish to have.
Great video! It makes me miss my fully grown red devil that I was forced to rehome to a good friend when I moved. He would wag his tail like a puppy to family members, but had to be kept alone in a large tank due to extreme aggression towards any other fish.
I might be getting one for my 280 liter (roughly 71 gallon) tank soon. Will it be happy in a tank that size? Also what do you feed Stane and how often?
I totally agree with you. They can tell the difference in faces too. I have an Oscar named Volcano. When I come home from work he goes crazy. He loves to eat too. I got mine when he was really little like when you got Stane. I love the 3d background. I'm looking into one.
Hello i have 3 oscars. two tigers and one albino. one of them is medium sized, and the others are fairly small. I've had them together for about a month in a 29 gallon tank. I know they are shy at first, but why are they hiding in the back whenever someone walks into the room? thanks
I'v got a problem... I just bought 4 new oscar babys :) like 4 cm's and one of them just lays on the bottom on the akvarium... ? what is wrong... plz awnser
hey i have a couple of questions... 1) other then stress what else makes oscar's color go from black to grey and then back to black again? 2) and also do you know if oscars prefer being the only oscar in the tank? or with another oscar buddy?
My oscar fish doesn't like to interact with people. It swims away when I try to come into contact with it. Is it best for these fish to be a lone in a tank? Mine are with a bunch of african ciclids.
I've got two oscars in a 55...getting a 75 for the bigger one soon...but was wondering how often SHOULD I feed them? I used to feed them about 2-3 times a day
i just brought an baby tiger oscar this morning about 2 1/2 inches. he swan straight to one spot and is just staying there :( boring! there are 4 neon tetras(not too bothered about them) i thought it would eat them straight away and actmore aggresive. it has just left them and 'sulked' all day is this normal? would be very thankfull if you could tell me what yours did......if you can remember? Thanks Jon great fish by the way!
I have a young oscar that is about 3 inches long.A couple of days ago he developed spots on him that looks like dandruff and he started to act funny.Today he is acting fine but still has the spots on him and has what looks like white poop coming out of him.Should I take him out of the tank so not to effect my other fish or is something not contageous?
No, they pale when they are sick, stressed, or have poor water conditions. They also do that when they see something they want to fight with, but that doesn't last long. Is it laying on bottom? Did you start tank recently?
Beautiful Oscar... and awesome camera! I'm guessing some kind of DSLR, right? I've got a 7.5in Orange Albino and a Nikon D3000... wish I would've saved and got the D300S.
well my oscar is 2 weeks old tank is 1 mounth old cystle clear water i get rid of 15% every week no he is not pounting but he might have a deases calld ick or i acadently poot to mutch of the salt stuff in the tank and the day after that happend he turnd pale? so do you think it is ick making him ppale or the salt? plz repawn thank you
When I was a kid I had an Oscar, Sucker fish, and kissing fish. Seeing this video made me miss that hobby. Oscar fish are awesome very smart fish, I was able to get mine to come to the surface when I placed my finger to the top of the water though I couldnt get him to come as close to my hand as you, had I been a bit wiser and prob a bit older I would of had the patience to do it
Wow. This video just convinced me to get an oscar. I was planning on getting angelfish and a few others, but these seem so much more fun. What size is your tank?
Well I took your advice and got some medicine called melafix and put it in the tank and there are no more white spots on my oscar and all the fish in my tank are very lively but my oscar still has the occasional "white poop" that comes out of him.Tomorrow I am suppose to stop using the medicine and replace 25% of the water and the carbon in the tank.Should I or should I use the medicine a few more days?Sorry to bother you about this but I really don't want to lose my fish.
@m1k3ydud3 How long do they live? In my old place, my neighbors told me they'd only the one fish- an Oscar. I did the research and found out why they'd only one. It'd be nice to set up a nice wide tank for a fish, decorate it as well as this and keep a piscine dog : )
Is tank cycled like it should be? If he's allways laying on the bottom, then there's something wrong with water, check ammonia and nitrates with tester. If water is fine, and he hides only when he sees you, then he's just scared, which is unusual. I guess he'll get used to soon.
Stane is the Man... Beautiful Fish... i Just got Two Oscars about 4 months ago... did my research i've had a 55 gallon tank for 8 years now... been wanting Oscars for a while... finelly bought them... got a 65 gallon tank for them got Two Oscars the same size... they are young... Named them Sparticus and Ceasar... Sparticus is Growing twice as fast as Ceasar... they are best of Buds... but i hear that can change once they get older... i think Ceasar is female and Sparticus is male but not sure... i'm guessing cause of the difference in growth rate.. they both have very different personalities Ceasar is a total Clown rides the Air Bubbles up and down mess with everything... Sparticus is layed back but he loves Algea waffers the plays with them and eats them
OMgoodness...SUCH a Q-T Pie as a baby! And just a handsome big boy! I wonder too if he is still with you? I have an Albino, Elli-Fish, she will eat from my hand but she won't let me pet her, yet (I hope) I saw her at Walmart and just couldn't leave her behind. She kept watching me, no matter where I moved & the other two in the same tank were just off in their own little worlds, but not Elli-Fish. I could tell right away she had quite the personality...and she does! She's 5 months old now. Love her to death. I hope your big guy is still with you & thanks for sharing :0)~
Hey I was just wondering if those are live plants in your tank, and if so what kind of light are you using that doesn't bother your Oscar. Sick set up though man, my fav on youtube.
I just got an oscar from a pet store he is about 8 inches long and would attack the glass everytimes someone looked at his tank. I felt bad for him in his tiny tank and brought him home. He chilled out the minute I got him in my 75 and as long as his belly is full he is nice to everyone.
Oh my Gosh! He's like a puppy!!! We have a couple of Oscars at our school, but one of them has Ich, so me and my friend are nursing him back to health:)
is it just me or do oscars love airators? i just got one and he likes to put himself right above it and float up, hes nine inches and the the air thing is longer tahn him, i got him with the tank i bought so i dont know him to well i also dont know how to keep oscars but theres alot on them so i think im alright nice fish hes pretty mine is the same just beat up... how do i make him look nicer and stuff like this one? he also seems sad i tihnk....
I just bought mine, and he just lays in a corner of the tank all day. And whenever i walk over there or if my cats jump up by it he goes under the plant until no ones in the room anymore. he swims lopsided too... i was told it takes em awhile but, i dont think he should swim lopsided.
Fish has a protective layer of something(i can't describe it in english), that protects it's skin from diseases and infections. If you touch it often, it becomes vounerable. But, if you keep clean water and healthy tank, you may pet it sometimes. I don't do that often.
not only is he so interactive, but his coloration is amazing and probobly the best cichlid ive seen in a LONG time. look after that guy PS. if you breed him send some eggs over the to britain for i bet his off spring will be replicated
I LOVE YOUR VIDEO! I just got a baby oscar a few days ago...he's the second one I have owned in my lifetime. I LOVE THESE FISH...I had no idea a fish could have so much character but these super intelligent cichlids are really amazing creatures.
I'm glad to hear that your Oscar is now in bigger tank. I'm sure he's happy.
Take good care of him.
That fish is awesome. I love the tank you set up for him, its beautiful
I really enjoyed watching Stane. My wife and I bought our 7-year-old daughter an oscar a month or so ago. She named it "Oscar." We had no idea how smart these buggers are. It's a joy to watch Oscar. I LOVE STANE!!!! GREAT VIDEO!!!!! Showed it to my Friends. JUST AWESOME!!!!!!!!
its nice to see a oscar in a decent sized aquarium, well done mate.
Really awesome fish. had one a few years ago that was maybe 13' or more. i used to feed him tadpoles, frogs, lizards and pellets so he grew quick. so now again i have a 75 gallon tank and a 3' oscar. best fish to have.
3 inch or 3 foot 3' means 3 foot
Very Nice Movie!Thanks.
I am Japanese,keeping Oscar,too.
They are lovely,funny,interesting tropical fish.
Let's releace them all over tha world!
what kind of environment do u suggest for an oscar, cuz i have a crowntail betta and i think oscars are aewsome so any info would help
My Oscar once jumped out of my tank while feeding!
@izzydoor what do u usualy feed him. and were those worms earlier?
What a charming and energetic fish.
Man, Stane rocks! Nice video and good job petting your Oscar!
does he destroy any of your plants?
was thinking of getting one but my tank is planted and i love my plants so
jessica horner love oscars
Beautiful plants. Wisteria are so delicate!
do oscars have to be with other oscars? cuz i have one and he seems a little lonley. pleace answer this question.
what are u feeding it....i have a similar oscar which is doing well with large different variety.
Great Looking Oscar........ and what a personality..
Great video! It makes me miss my fully grown red devil that I was forced to rehome to a good friend when I moved. He would wag his tail like a puppy to family members, but had to be kept alone in a large tank due to extreme aggression towards any other fish.
What size is this tank?
I might be getting one for my 280 liter (roughly 71 gallon) tank soon. Will it be happy in a tank that size? Also what do you feed Stane and how often?
Watching it now brings back so many memories
Oscars are by far the greatest fish to own. Stane is a beautiful Oscar, great video. 5 stars.
you have very beautiful fish. The video was very well made. Keep up the good work
I totally agree with you. They can tell the difference in faces too. I have an Oscar named Volcano. When I come home from work he goes crazy. He loves to eat too. I got mine when he was really little like when you got Stane. I love the 3d background. I'm looking into one.

I just bought 4 new oscar babys :) like 4 cm's and one of them just lays on the bottom on the akvarium... ? what is wrong... plz awnser
Stane really helped me decide to get an oscar. Now I have 5 in a 150g tank. They really are like water dogs.
Thanx
hey i have a couple of questions...
1) other then stress what else makes oscar's color go from black to grey and then back to black again?
2) and also do you know if oscars prefer being the only oscar in the tank? or with another oscar buddy?

all oscars when cared for properly act just as happy and jolly as Stane does!
How much time will a small oscar of some cm will take to get big is almost 3 Inches??
I've got two oscars in a 55...getting a 75 for the bigger one soon...but was wondering how often SHOULD I feed them? I used to feed them about 2-3 times a day
thanks
i didn't quite understood your question about setup.
also for now, should i bump up the filter on the 14 gallon to a larger one, since oscars are a lil messier
i could watch this over and over, its gotta be the start thats the best :D
i just brought an baby tiger oscar this morning about 2 1/2 inches. he swan straight to one spot and is just staying there :( boring! there are 4 neon tetras(not too bothered about them) i thought it would eat them straight away and actmore aggresive. it has just left them and 'sulked' all day is this normal? would be very thankfull if you could tell me what yours did......if you can remember?
Thanks Jon
great fish by the way!
lovely fish :D he looks very well kept!

Wow the pattern on your Oscar is spectacular!!

I think that of all fish oscars have the most personality, and I think all oscars love swimming thru the air bubbles and moving the gravel around
tank you very much izzidoor!!Congratulations for the fish and very nice tank!
really well trained oscar...awesome...
Great video man, fish looks really healthy.. awesome habitat! i just got my baby oscar a few days ago :) I'm excited.

Great video, fantastic Oscar, looks very healthy and happy. They have great characters dont they?
How many gallons is that tank? Thanks!
Is tank cycled like it should be? If he's allways laying on the bottom, then there's something wrong with water, check ammonia and nitrates with tester. If water is fine, and he hides only when he sees you, then he's just scared, which is unusual. I guess he'll get used to soon.

It grows fast for two years, then it slows down. Stane grew to that size in one and a half year.
Best video I've seen on oscars, my tiger oscar is named Mo.
Great video mate, really enjoyed it. Excellent tank too.
I've got 2 oscars, (Black-Out & Bumble).
Cheers!
This is one amazing Oscar. I love them.
