Brilliant Bill. I just bought one of these, a 2004 model like this on, and now I appreciate why people don’t want to part with them once they own one. As an ex-Range Rover owner, I did chuckle at the Range Rover jokes. You have a talent Bill and you have my subscription.

@@joseantoniomartinez2176Japanese engineers building cars in Japan is what you really want. These cruisers are built in one single factory where all they built were cruisers. They MRI the engine block just to give you an idea of the obsession with quality.
Could easily be done by US manufacturers, if they placed greater significance on the engineers/designers and less weight/consideration on the feedback from cost accountants.
i came from a video featuring a 2004 cadillac escalade... what a difference... one is ready to fall apart in the middle of the road while this looks like a new vehicle with old design.
Call me stupid but I'd rather buy the escalade...

The heavy off-roading Axle sign is the Diff lock. For more traction.
The button in the center stack that is in question, locks your center differential. That truck is always in all wheel drive, but the center Torsen differential can send more power to the front or back as needed, normally it is 40% front and 60% rear. However, once you push that button it locks the center Torsen differential in to a 50% - 50% split for more capable off roading. Great video Bill and that one is in great shape!
that button you didn't know what's it about is center differential lock button. when it's on, engine power is always go 50:50 front and rear. so when one of axle has a slippage, the other axle still gets 50 of power. you only activate this in low speed and slippery surface(gravel/snow).
I would get this S U V over any other new vehicle.

Technically it’s a wagon not an suv. And you’re also the first person I’ve ever heard complain about the split gate. It’s such a utilitarian feature, so many people were pissed when they removed it later on. (GX anyone?)
Also they aren’t xenon, they are halogen projectors.
Also the ride height is not automatic beyond the built in safety parameters going into normal height after 19mph. The dial simply allows more or less dampening level by using the nitrogen bags in the accumulator globes (essentially the gas shock) of the vehicle.
The vehicle will raise by itself IF you’re in low range AND the vehicle senses slippage. It adds another 20mm onto high mode
The button you said turns off the traction control, it actually is a big thing. It’s the center differential lock, which forces 50% torque to front wheels and 50% to rear wheels

landcruiser, but with the Lexus over engineering and luxury trim. The difference between a landcruiser and a 470's engine is this - Lexus has far higher design tolerences. If a part on a LC must be within a hundreth of an inch to meet tolerences, on the Lexus the tolerence will be a thousandth of an inch. That's why the Lexus (*FE) engines are so much more desirable to people who know what's up.
Traction control off is for driving on mud and sand. You really don't want traction control applying brake to a spinning wheel when you're just trying to get through some soft sand. Turn it back on to climb steep, slippery hills.
This is the very first time I have ever heard that. I think we would all appreciate a source for this claim.

My mother has a 2005 Toyota Land Cruiser almost exactly the same as this and the back seats are supple leather. They do look identical to the ones in this Lexus.

My dad 06 LX 470 gets around 10 to 11 mpg with mixed driving. Just terrible when compared to any big American SUV, but when it comes to build quality and reliability nothing comes close.

It will be difficult to put groceries in if that lower hatch is open unless you have somebody inside grabbing the groceries as you toss it over

I have a 100 series land crusier and yes, we have very soft leather but the leather in the Lexus is just insane
I have the exact same model but mine takes 2 to 3 times to start and its use to turn of automatically in the road sometimes but we got it fixed so that doesn’t happen but it still rakes two to three times to turn on. But nonetheless its a great car we have it for 15 years.

I absolutely love Lexus. I just traded an 08 RX for a 13 Infiniti JX35 only because I wanted a true 7passenger CUV. Lexus will last you forever.

Sorry to mention but the cluster seems to have problem. Temp is above than normal. & oil pressure guage is lower than normal. This is common in these cars. Got mine fixed few months back

Christopher Pullen.. No bro the guy took only 70 $ to fix but that's in my country UAE. He runs a small computer shop & does all those tech geeks stuff. Usually motors go bad in these clusters. Mine were rpm + temp guages. Someone I knew his fuel Guage gone bad & his car halted midway thinking he still got fuel when there was no.. There are also couple of videos on u tube about this. However in this particular car. The higher temp could be because of lower oil. I would rather check that first before blaming the cluster.
