Will they have some volumes of a series out of stock? Yes but they’ll have more than just that one volume you’re missing.
There is definitely a shortage of manga, but it might be because some Barnes and Noble american stores steal priority from others. Like I have been unable to get a volume 4 from my LCS which I have it on pull-list so they take it in on release, and then I have been unable to get it through rightstuf backorders. Yeah those are definitely some of the most difficult to complete the full sets of. I think as time goes on it'll become easier, but in the meantime it is annoying if you have gaps in your set. Thank you for watching!
@@lorenzomabalos9851 I think for demon slayer specifically more people tend to buy the box set in English now (when it’s actually in stock) since it’s a better deal overall. Ive only recently gotten into manga collection. I’ve casually collected manga in the past but this year I’ve gotten into it in a bigger way and decided to collect two currently ongoing series that I’ve been meaning to read for a while (wish me luck theyre both so long lol). I tend to buy my manga secondhand coz I care more about reading it than displaying it so as long as its in okay condition, I’m happy. But one of the series has several of the volumes I now need out of stock every where and the only places I can find them have them listed at ridiculous prices (one of them is going for £45 when its retail price is £7.99). Given the ones before and after these seem to be very available, I’m hoping theyre being reprinted and will eventually be available at retail price again coz theres no way im paying £45 for a single manga.
I Dead Used To Walk Into An Anime Store In 2014-2015 And They Had Every Volume Of One Piece And Naruto Now They That I Started Collecting Again They Had Like 10 Volumes Of Each.
Yeah I remember when I started collecting around 2014-2015 and it was never really a worry finding specific volumes of popular series. Nowadays it seems a lot harder to complete a set of whatever is mainstream at the moment. So I feel for anyone that's getting back into collecting or new to the hobby. Thank you for watching!
Man I really want to get the Vagabond VizBig's. I love Inoue's other works. I hope that you're able to complete your set for a reasonable price soon. Thank you for watching!
I placed a back order on Murcielago volumes 1 & 2 and it got cancelled after 2 months of waiting. guess i'll have to wait more. hopefully it restocks by fall but jeez, shit's getting crazy and i'm not paying more than retail for a damn book.
I got the first 3 eternal editions of sailor moon for Christmas which started my interest in collecting manga again, and oh boy the worst time to get back in the hobby i cannot find volume 4 anywhere, and it's just volume 4
Yeah it sucks when you can’t find 1 volume of a specific series for a long time. I had the same issue with volume 19 of Hunter x Hunter over the past year. It was really difficult to find in Canada, but I was finally able to complete my set when I saw it went back in stock recently. I’ve thought about collecting Sailor moon for a while. I’m not really the biggest fan of shojo manga, but I do like to read some series occasionally. I’m pretty interested in sailor moon specifically because the mangaka of it (Naoko Takeuchi) is married to Yoshihiro Togashi the mangaka of Hunter x Hunter. It’d be cool to see what her storytelling is like and just experience one of the most iconic shojo series. I hope that you’re able to find the volume for a reasonable price soon. Thanks for watching!
If you can't wait to finish a story you might want to check it out online, most publishers have been putting back chapters online, plus there free fan translation sites that do pretty good jobs, I'll see if the story stays interesting and if so then I'll try to get it and if it out of stock or backordered then I'll at least will have read the story. And with these shortage and such that might be the best or only way to read some titles for a while.
Worse if the country you're living in only has book depository as the cheapest option. Man I wish Rightstuf ships internationally for free. This higher demand is good in the long term, wish more publishers have warehouses all over the world.
Yeah you're right that certain countries don't have many options and that compounds the issue even more. I think eventually there will be more worldwide availability, but its going to take publishers a while to increase their reach. Thank you for watching!
Like Food wars... i've been searching for MONTHS to find even one no matter which volume in my country i swear it's impossible as well as Re:zero light novel like what the hell ?? So i just ended up buying on Amazon in English (not my first language) because i was tired of finding them nowhere, so now i even transformed it as a quest with my friend so when we go out, the first to find even one volume win something (spoiler: we didn't found anything lmao)
I was trying to get a copy of don’t meddle with my daughter volume 3. What can I say? Guilty pleasure. Now, I thought nothing of volume 3 only being available via scalpers. The publisher stopped making copies. It’s whatever. Now I’m finding out that all manga has to deal with this? Bro, this is reality now. Supply chain issues my ass, this is our new reality.
Supply chain issues are number one reason. Glue for binding and paper are literally back ordered because of an inconsistent supply chain, everything else is just slightly contributing or just noise. Just sayin…
the worst thing is the box sets. Thank god I was watching for the Tokyo Ghoul: re box set restock like a hawk so I can actually get it at msrp from amazon. Now i really want the Bleach and/or One Piece box sets but there is just no way right now i'm paying a reseller for their insane prices
I've been buying manga for almost 20 years and have been an anime fan pretty much since I came out of the womb. I miss those old days where people didn't really care but if you were a fan you still always were able to get what you wanted and were able to find a friend to talk about it too at the very least online. I've made many of my friends like this over the years and the current state of fandoms is definitely much more volatile probably also because so many new people who haven't learned the rules of fandom and instead just jumped right in have entered it. Has little to do with the shortage but still I'm watching this all from a distance and don't know how I feel about it.
I'm cut from the same cloth as you are except I know how I feel and I'm not happy with the state of the current fandom. Too many people collecting for clout, not cause they enjoy what they're buying. Too many People watching shows just cause they're trending. Too many fans treating what Ani-tuber influencers say as gospel. Too many new fans trying to Change things which is pushing out veteran fans. I miss the old days when Anime was popular but still niche.
I've been collecting since 2016 and luckily I have most of the series I care about its always been hard to get some things in England but its almost impossible to find manga now (especially where I live)
love how you used Steins;Gate as the visual novel example. One thing I noticed though is that most people don't even know that its a game they just know about the anime. That being said I highly recommend reading Steins;Gate. You won't be disappointed, even if you have seen the anime, there is a lot more content in the vn as well as more endings. The anime follows the true ending
I know I’m not the only one, but I kind of miss being an anime fan pre this explosion in popularity. The funny part is I still barely have any friends into anime/manga lmao
If you think that you are out of stock, you are very wrong. In turkey you cant find 1.vol of any manga.we are waiting for it to be pressed again, and when it is pressed, it ends immediately because it is pressed less. and there is already very little variety For example, tokyo revengers 1.vol was newly printed
Three months later and it’s still the same😢 I really want to get all three Naruto manga set boxes, but one of them costs 800$ on Amazon, that’s insane… when in really it costs like 200$ or even less but you know.. OUT OF STOCK😭
vol 6 of the promised neverland was out of stock for an entire year or maybe even more but i managed to get my hands on it recently cause i think it got printed again😅 Edit: but it is impossible for me to get tokyo ghoul vol 12 right now cause the prices for it right now...like 28 euros im not gonna spend that much on 1 volume😭
everything im collecting im missing like 1 or 2 volumes and its so annoying as they,ve not been in stock for months, one series i got scammed trying to buy it and another i accidentally got it in german lol
I have been waiting for Monster:The perfect edition volume 9 to be back in stock for about 5 months now🥲...its the final volume i need to. Complete the series 🤧
I've been waiting to pick up the rest of the Naruto manga for a while as well. I picked up the first box set when it was in stock a few months back for the lowest price I've ever seen it (in Canada), but finding the second and third has been a struggle. I hope you're able to get them eventually. Thank you for watching!
Same I ordered OP box 3 & 4 2 finally came in last October so I’m hopeful. Besides, I got all of Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan and Berserk to finish before continuing One Piece.
Yeah Dark Horse is definitely the exception to that haha. They've been releasing some other popular titles in the Deluxe Editions over the past few years (Blade of the Immortal and Hellsing). More obscure stuff is definitely a toss up on whether it'll get reprinted or released in a different format. Which sucks if you're into collecting less mainstream stuff. Also thank you for watching!
honestly i used to be a person that hated anime or manga my whole life till last year in 2021 i made some new friends and i ended up having a crush on this girl in that friend group she ended up giving me anime recommendations cause i told her ive never watched anime in my whole life i obviously said yes cause i liked this girl alot i she gave me 12 animes to watch 1 being demon slayer which i watched first & i ended up loving it i ended up watching all 12 animes in a week LOL now im 50 or so animes in and im starting to collect manga things change once u like someone LOL
Honestly I'm not too familiar with the American comic industry. While I was researching for this video I did glance through this article bleedingcool.com/comics/there-is-not-enough-paper-in-america-for-comic-books-right-now/ I'm not sure how bad the paper shortage is at this point in time, but It seems like the production did slow down at some points as well.
Yes but only for Omnibuses, there's already robust secondary market for western Omnibuses because most of that demographic is 35+ yrs old who either need room or have room for comic/omnibuses. Western comics have been in STEEP decline for the past 10 years. One theory is that western comics have been fucking with characters' character- dissing their original fanbase. I'm 45 and most of my comic collecting peers have switched over to manga because there's still this edge and energy to the genre , especially the older mangas of the 80's-90's.
I guess people won’t laugh at me anymore. I have over 1,000 volumes of manga. I never had to deal with manga shortages in my 16 year collecting existence until recently. Now I’m worried if I will ever finish collecting longer series on my radar such as Hunter x Hunter and Fairy Tail.
oh thats why i havent been able to find any of the next volumes of manga ive been collecting for the past 2 years..... i thought i was just extremely unlucky lmao
i live in canada and we have indigo, but i think ill wait for csm vol 1 to restock, its basically the only vol thats not there they have a bunch of vol 2-10
i have been waiting over a year the same 2 omnibus volumes of one piece. they cover the end of alabasta, all of jaya and the start of skypeia. fuck sake, its one of the most important acs of the series in the most popular manga in the world, and the only copy i can find is used and for almost $100. i get that there are supply chain issues, but you'd think the most popular manga in the world would be more readily available. i'm not trying to blame anyone, im just really frustrated with the situation.

I’d love to get the 12th deluxe book for Vagabond to complete my set. Not paying $100.00 for it though.
Man I really want to get the Vagabond VizBig's. I love Inoue's other works. I hope that you're able to complete your set for a reasonable price soon. Thank you for watching!
I still need volume 5
I placed a back order on Murcielago volumes 1 & 2 and it got cancelled after 2 months of waiting. guess i'll have to wait more. hopefully it restocks by fall but jeez, shit's getting crazy and i'm not paying more than retail for a damn book.
A lot of good information, great video!
I appreciate it. Thank you for watching!
Volume 1 of jujutsu Kaisen: everywhere
Volume 4: TURN THE LIGHTS ON I CANT FIND NOTHING
You'd think that volume 1 would have more people buying it
If you can't wait to finish a story you might want to check it out online, most publishers have been putting back chapters online, plus there free fan translation sites that do pretty good jobs, I'll see if the story stays interesting and if so then I'll try to get it and if it out of stock or backordered then I'll at least will have read the story.
And not just New and Upcoming manga, even old manga that isnt really popular is also out of stock
Jjk Volume 4 has been out of stock for a long time and new volumes come out yet they dont bother reprinting that particular volume for some reason
I've been waiting for the Tokyo ghoul box set to restock for well over a year
I'm waiting for Blue Period vol 1 & 3, and To Your Eternity vol 3 to come back. PLEASE
all available on book depository with free shipping ☺️
Supply chain issues are number one reason. Glue for binding and paper are literally back ordered because of an inconsistent supply chain, everything else is just slightly contributing or just noise. Just sayin…
For some reason I just can’t find attack on Titan volume 5
the worst thing is the box sets.
I was about to lose my patience until I seen this video... thanks man
Three months later and it’s still the same😢 I really want to get all three Naruto manga set boxes, but one of them costs 800$ on Amazon, that’s insane… when in really it costs like 200$ or even less but you know.. OUT OF STOCK😭
vol 6 of the promised neverland was out of stock for an entire year or maybe even more but i managed to get my hands on it recently cause i think it got printed again😅
Edit: but it is impossible for me to get tokyo ghoul vol 12 right now cause the prices for it right now...like 28 euros im not gonna spend that much on 1 volume😭
everything im collecting im missing like 1 or 2 volumes and its so annoying as they,ve not been in stock for months, one series i got scammed trying to buy it and another i accidentally got it in german lol
I get all my manga from goodwill. It’s cheap it’s only 2.00 dollars each manga. Sometimes they come brand new.
bezerk deluxe is out alot too I'm getting into it
I have been waiting for Monster:The perfect edition volume 9 to be back in stock for about 5 months now🥲...its the final volume i need to. Complete the series 🤧
I feel ur pain 🤧
Dont lose hope man!
I've been waiting for one piece box sets, and naruto box set 3 to come in stock for so long. The same goes for food wars vol 3-12ish
I've been waiting to pick up the rest of the Naruto manga for a while as well. I picked up the first box set when it was in stock a few months back for the lowest price I've ever seen it (in Canada), but finding the second and third has been a struggle. I hope you're able to get them eventually. Thank you for watching!
@@GurkiratGhuman I believe on right stuf anime the naruto box set 2 is in stock, I just bought it about a week ago
Same
I ordered OP box 3 & 4
2 finally came in last October so I’m hopeful. Besides, I got all of Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan and Berserk to finish before continuing One Piece.
Unless it’s dark horse in which case out of stock means out of print unless the series is beserk
Yuyu Hakusho is like 3-5 times more expensive for some early copies.
Yeah, I noticed. Everything I want is out of stock... mostly. Guess I'll continue reading online. Been doing so for more than 16 years.
My sister who works at a manga store, told me I couldn't realise my own manga at a better time. I see why now XD
I'm having trouble evening getting kaiji volume 3 😭
honestly i used to be a person that hated anime or manga my whole life till last year in 2021 i made some new friends and i ended up having a crush on this girl in that friend group she ended up giving me anime recommendations cause i told her ive never watched anime in my whole life i obviously said yes cause i liked this girl alot i she gave me 12 animes to watch 1 being demon slayer which i watched first & i ended up loving it i ended up watching all 12 animes in a week LOL now im 50 or so animes in and im starting to collect manga things change once u like someone LOL
I REMEMBER THAT POST ON REDDIT 6:20 I couldn't stop laughing. I mean, I felt bad, but we all laughed. Admit it.
do american comics have the same problem right now?
Honestly I'm not too familiar with the American comic industry. While I was researching for this video I did glance through this article bleedingcool.com/comics/there-is-not-enough-paper-in-america-for-comic-books-right-now/
I'm not sure how bad the paper shortage is at this point in time, but It seems like the production did slow down at some points as well.
@@nightlam3419 interesting. I don't know anything about collecting American comics, so this is enlightening
When I tell you it's taking me over a year to get the completed series of Monster
They need to reprint faster.
"Why is EVERY Manga Out of Stock?" Demand has exceeded supply.
Shout out to anyone trying to collect Dorohedoro lol :')
Who knows, maybe I’ll get the vols for Hells Paradise sometime this century.
I’m just trying to find the box sets for one piece , I got 4 at a local store. (Got very lucky)
B&N has been the goat during the shortage.
Will the One Piece box sets come back into print?
I just want to read Ajin ☠
Not just manga other many things been out of stock with restriction & long hold period.
It really irritates me how other buys manga for aesthetic and trend, like bro do y'all realize how hard to collect those
In Europe, if you want to find an English version of manga, good luck! They are expensive and hard to find
r.i.p chainsaw man vol 1, also jjk vol 8 since it covers s2 ep 1, but man i really wanted to get vol 1 of chainsaw man in anticipation of the anime
i live in canada and we have indigo, but i think ill wait for csm vol 1 to restock, its basically the only vol thats not there they have a bunch of vol 2-10
Ahh, so this is why I can't find Kuroko no basket vol 1 anywhere ;(
I purchased volume 2 of chainsaw man yesterday and all I can say is that I was so lucky that happened to me.
i have been waiting over a year the same 2 omnibus volumes of one piece. they cover the end of alabasta, all of jaya and the start of skypeia. fuck sake, its one of the most important acs of the series in the most popular manga in the world, and the only copy i can find is used and for almost $100. i get that there are supply chain issues, but you'd think the most popular manga in the world would be more readily available.
i'm not trying to blame anyone, im just really frustrated with the situation.
I just want the black butler manga to come in in my local swedish bookstore😭😭
It's annoying having to wait months for books
I cant find to your eternity volume 3 and mieruko-chan volume 2 anywhere! Lol
I started reading Tokyo Ghoul and regret it because I can't finish it because the issues I'm on are backordered
For the life of me I can't find Kaguya 10. That volume better have some crazy shit in it for the year search I've got for it
Oh my fucking god….NOT ANOTHER ONE!!!
Reselling books for a ridiculous price should be illegal
God please make this a huge manga shortage in exchange of the graphics card shortage, we can't have both at the same time
Not surprising, trending animes like the one's shown in the video obviously sells more.
I just buy all of liar game and holy shit is a pain in the ass .Buy some is easy but i try to get all is always miss 1 or 2 vol.
was there an English release? Cuz the only western releases I’ve seen are in Spanish and German.
@@saadvon is vietnamese mate and the manga is like 17 year old now.
there 1 main reason. creating face shortages. we are short so buy from this mysteries reseller for more that is not use at all.
Haven’t watched the video yet but I literally bought demon slayer volume 1 yesterday lol
Chip shortage going crazy
Love it
Appreciate it, thank you for watching.
Oh I didn’t realise Jujutsu Kaisen outsold Demon Slayer last year, I thought it was the top seller.
I just want Naruto manga box set 1 and 3 😭to complete my Naruto collection
Viz digital manga subscription is $2 a month
Gpu flashbacks (not even flashbacks)
just read it online for free ??
1. It's bad fan translations most of the times.
2. Collecting is half of the fun.
3. It's illegal.
No I like supporting the series I read
What the hell is animi?
