      Your English didn't present any problems as far as being understood. So far I think I sound like Godzilla wearing a shock collar but it is interesting enough to put some time into it. Maybe I'll improve or maybe not. Your sound is kind of what I'm after, so however you learned your technique it was clearly effective.

      Your English is fine.
      It is more than decently understandable, something not even some Americans can do (thinking about "mumble rap", for instance).
      No need to apologise, you're doing more than well on that.

    • @Xogroroth666

      Hmmm, your Kargyraa is not that low, like for instance that of the Gyoto monks from Tibet.
      Also, going low, I hear a deformation in the tones, maybe practice on this a wee more? :)
      Go check Rowan Hartsuiker here on TH-cam, he has a neat, low Kargyraa, that is tonally marvellous. :)
      I hope you see this as constructive.

  • @zachungobogungo9379

    pretty good tutorial brochacho. Not really sure I agree with the concept of increasing pressure or tension, since in standard dag kargyraa it can be kind of important for learners to keep in mind to stay relaxed. Styles of khoomei and sygyt involve this concept of tension (constriction) a bit more, but not so much kargyraa. I try to think of it as more of an activation. In my experience teaching this, there can also be some negative effects of teaching it by coughing or clearing of the throat. I'm not a vocal anatomy expert, but there are definitely muscles involved in those processes other than the false vocal folds, and they often give learners habits that inhibit their tone, and in extreme cases their ability to initiate FVF vibration at all. Most commonly people tend to sort of"curl" their voice in something that sounds a bit like a kermit the frog impression lol. To singers learning through this way, definitely pay close attention not only to the amount of vibration you're getting, but also the other aspects of your tone. Really, everything above your neck should be configured just about the same as it would be if you were singing regularly. You don't seem to have these problems at all though ren, yours is pretty clean. Just something to keep in mind for learners who use this method. Also, it would be super cool if you'd join our discord server where we have a bunch of written lessons on the main throat singing styles, and we're constantly making ourselves available for live vc coaching. It's all free lol. discord.gg/RfE3hY3

But tbh I just dont know a different one :-P I will surely join the discord! I would love to learn more, so I could teach it better. Thank you! ♡

    I only recently tried kargyraa. I learn the basic kargyraa sound but this method allows me to sing deeper. The other way I learned mentioned that the "scratchiness" takes practice to go away. Only little bits at a time until it goes away, then do a little more at a time.

      P.s.: many people learn throat singing in three days but very few can do it in a relaxed and efficient way (like professionals), because it takes time and perseverance. Yes but nobody really knows who did it first. Tuvans, Mongols, and Altay people agree that the first people to sing like this were the nomads around the Altay mountains. Even Sayan Bapa from Huun Huur Tu said Tuvan, Mongol, Altay, even Buryat style is from the same source.

    Thanks so much for the video! I'm trying to master this type of singing to have better false fold control for growling vocals in metal. I found the goat method very helpful and I managed to tap into the Kargyyra a little bit though I am straining more and and can't maintain the deeper tone that you have. I'm going to take a break today because I find that initial "meeeehhhh" part is putting strain on my vocal cords a bit and its getting scratchy down there and I don't want to hurt myself. probably just haven' found the sweet spot for it not to hurt myself yet. Can't wait to practice more tomorrow. Hopefully one day I can be as good as you. I really love when it goes deep sounding.... sounds so cool!

      @RenVasTerul  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the feedback! :-D Yeee kargyyra is great when mixed with some growling. I will make a video on how to get lower with the note, quite soon (I actually already recorded it, but the audio was bad, so I need to rerecord it). Stay tuned and I wish you best of luck! :-D

    • @XwoooahX
      @XwoooahX 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RenVasTerul Hey, yesterday I am able to do this but I'm not sure if it's correct. . It seems like I can do the disortion and a hum and a very limited set of vowel sound. I wonder if I'm doing it wrong but the way I'm doing it I kick it off with kind of a cat purrr initially where the soft palet drops to the back of the the tongue and then I somehow push that down into my ventricular fold by adding some voice to it like ooooo where there is a richer/deeper tone. However, doing it this way I can't really get some of my vowel sounds without losing my distortion like I see people doing on some videos with a e i o and u. So is this the wrong/false way of doing it or do I just need to practice the Aaaaah, eeeee, iiii sounds until I find how to keep the disortion with it? The fact that I can't pronounce all the vowels makes me wonder if I'm not doing this right. Like it seems impossible to get the distortion by starting with AAAAAhh for example without it sounding like I lose that sound.

    • @RenVasTerul
      @RenVasTerul  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@XwoooahX Hmm... You know what... If you start with this "cat purr" as you said, you most likely are using vocal fry. And that would possibly mean, you're actually doing subharmonic singing instead of throat singing :-D Which is FAR more difficult to learn and master! And it would also explain the difficulty to create vowels. I personally have this issue too, when I atrempt subharmonic singing. Go check out David Larson's YT channel. He does great tutorials on all kinds of low-pitch vocal techniques, including both throat and subharmonic singing ;-) You may find some answers in his vidoes

    • @XwoooahX
      @XwoooahX 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RenVasTerul Actually the "purr" I'm refering to is not in the vocal folds so ti's not vocal fry. The purr is in the back of the mouth as if you are imitating snoring. I used this immitation but adding voice to it then engages the false folds which sit over the vocal folds and it sounds like the throat singing at that point. I found I can get and eeee sound if I push air a bit harder but its way more violent on my ventricular folds to do the eee sound. Still can't get an aaaa.

    • @XwoooahX
      @XwoooahX 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess my question is does the back of your tongue touch the soft palete at the back of the top of your mouth for your to make the sound? I usually lose the vibrations and just go back to a hum if I open up too much and there is too much of a gap in the back of my mouth.
