Jimmy, thanks for letting me know about Hydretain. I have been watching you use it in a few videos wondering if I wanted to pay that much for a product such as this. Well, this year I bit the bullet and bought some. However, rather than applying to my entire lawn, I used it only on the areas that appeared to get less water (as determined by placing tuna fish cans out). I must say, this stuff really works. The areas that used to be a light yellow is now green and I am excited about it. Thanks again for the great videos you put out and the time you spend to do it. A fellow Lehi-ite!
You apply it to the entire lawn, not just spots that are hurting. The entire lawn will eventually become hydrophobic, so it's better to apply systemically. Do yourself the favor and do it all.
I used liquid hydretain this year for the first time and didnt water it in because I assume its doing double duty, drought hit and my lawn looked the same as pass year without. We finally got a down pour 6-7 weeks after app and my lawn look better than my neighbors. Im not sure if it was hydretain, stress blend or raising mower 3.5inches.
Ordered some after remembering you talking about it a while back. It should get here tomorrow. I have a lawn that was out in This year and since slowing down the watering on the new sod I’ve had a lot of trouble keeping it green especially in specific spots. Hopefully this helps.
@@JimmyLewisMows - Do you have any videos or covered leveling your yard / lawn? We bought a new house last Sept. here in TX. I've since figured out the developers did a horrible job grading the top soil. I'm wondering if I need to tear everything out, have topsoil graded and start over? or is it possible to fill in low spots and re-grass.
Can/should this be applied to the seedbed (after scalping, aerating, liming, spreading topsoil) before the seed is spread? I will be pregerminating in a water bucket. Please and thanks!
Hi, very informative video, Thanks in advance. Question: Whashed off with a quarter to a half an inch of water but using a hose, will be a slower wide spread motion than how you did when applying Hydretain in this video?
I did Hydretain last year but I really couldn't tell if it helped. This year I am planning to do a liquid aeration a week before I apply the Hydretain in hopes to get this product more deeper into the soil.
Says to use 9oz/1000 sq ft for the initial application, then 3oz/1000 each subsequent monthly application. You can use the RTU sprayer for this or a backpack sprayer. Either way.
Some local nurseries might carry it. I haven’t seen it cheaper than what you can get it delivered for online. I have it linked. That purchase supports me a little as well. I know that it’s been out of stock, but I’m told they should be resupplied soon.
I know it is popular because my order from YM was delayed! All good though, I have enough to get me through the summer, I wanted to take advantage of the sale which it sounds like a lot of people must have done as well!!😎
Who wrote these instructions.. if they did not put "or" multiple times in a sentence it would probably be more clear. "Or" should mean do option1 OR do option2. It should not read: "apply 9oz / 1k or maintain at 1/3 rate after initial full rate app". Apply initial app at 9oz / 1k. Afterwards, maintain monthly at 3oz / 1k. That simple!

Great review! Thanks!
Good tips bro!
Well this is something I'd be interested in living in Denver. Thank you
Best video I have seen on the application.
Hi, after application, how often do you water your lawn weekly?
Hey Jimmy I’m going to be aerating my lawn then use the product. Nice video tutorial
Beautiful lawn!

I’ve seen some people say it turned their lawn brown? Is that possible with the wrong application?
Glad I found your channel. You just made me believe I can take care of my own lawn. I hired a local company, but I'm not happy with results.
You can totally do it. Just takes time.

Sure can!
Great tips.. put my first app.. getting ready to put my next one.👍

Sold out everywhere!
Love the video and your content
Great video. It's good to know you don't need to be exact with your application rates. Thanks
After using up the quart , how would
You mix it from the gallon container?
Pour 9 oz in the quart sprayer,
Then rest with water, then attach to hose?
Correct. Except 9oz/1000 sq ft is only for the first application of the season. Monthly applications at 3oz/1000 after.
What kind of trees are in your lawn and how big do they get? And can you tell me what kind of tree is on the corner of your house?
Jimmy, great job as usual. What is the difference in the “yellow” and “green” hose end sprayers?
I have some yellow spots already, would it be good to still apply? Or is it too late?
Can continue to apply through the summer. Make sure to water it in
During the summer say 90° plus; how much water per week does your lawn need?
1”
Is there a how to video on the granular
Hey JL, per the gallon size directions, use 9. oz's per gallon, that for a larger sprayer i.e. backpack, one, or two gallon sprayer?

@@JimmyLewisMows Got it - thx!
Can I still apply this month September? I'm in zone 9b and we're still in the 100's
Yes
Is it good to use for new seeded lawn?
Definitely
So if it requires damp soil and needs to be watered in, can it applied while it's raining? Kill 2 birds with 1 stone.
If it's raining enough, yes!
Great advice Jimmy, but can you use hydretain at the time of seeding? I do not recall if you did at your parents house.
100% you can. I didn't use it at my parent's house, but I have used it in the past when seeding.
Can you apply this on grass seed after it has sprouted up?
Yup! You can even put it down with your seed.
Would it be worth to put any down this year or wait for spring?
how often do you apply it ?
Once a month during the summer
Can you buy that locally (here in UT?)

I used Hydratain last year and it worked awesome. Went to do it again this year just to find out I didn't have any 🤦🏻♂️ Kinda wish I had some now.

Do they sell Revive in Utah?
Yup.
