I would recommend giving mowing taller a try. Taller grass helps keep the weeds away and has deeper roots.
Bermuda can handle it, but I understand
I wouldn’t cut the grass so low, like on two “ unless the grass is only three or four inches. Because not only can you be pulling or ripping the grass out but only about a third is all you want to take off. So it will look good and not burned or yellow. I usually cut mine at about three or three and a half “. It looks fuller , thicker and nice and green. One and two is too low for my yard and doesn’t look good. But if your lawn is beautiful and thick I can be wrong. Peace. Oh by the way the bumper and graphics look great. I need to get a bumper for mine because I come really close to hitting the front of the body in certain places. Thanks for the help friend. ✌️👍🇺🇸
Bermuda can handle anything and my lawn did fine
Great video and it fixed my leveling issue too. The same adjustment nut on the left side was out of adjustment which was an easy fix... Thx!
You’re completely welcome. Glad I helped
thank you thank you my 46 inch deck on my cub cadet was unlevel and this worked THANK YOU it is the xt 1 v twin 22 hp . I found my 42 inch cub cadet is harder to level
Glad my video helped you out!!!!
Unless you have a putting green for a lawn you don't need to mow that low. I mow at the 3-3.5 setting.
Don’t tell another man what height to mow at, that’s ridiculous. Rotary low is my jam. You stay up there, I’ll stay where I am.
@@LawnPusher David did not tell you to mow at any particular height. He said that you don't "need" to mow that low. He's right. You don't need to mow that low. However, I prefer cutting low just like you. I like the tight cut look. I still cut higher because it will look better for a longer period of time and you can save on watering. Taller grass will keep the water from evaporating as quickly. It also helps keep the air around the house cooler. BTW, did you check to make sure the tire pressure on both sides was the same? If one tire is lower than the tire on the opposite side, that will have a direct bearing on one side of the mower cutting lower than the other side. Happy mowing!
@@kittyhawk7060 fine but on that argument you don’t “need” to mow a lawn at all. People will often use the NEED argument just to disagree with an option but refuse to acknowledge that their declared preferences has just as little to do with an actual need
You know you can adjust those little wheels on the deck to make it go way lower
I’m going as low as I could
If you are low on one side you always want to check the tire pressure too. I like the new PITTL decals
I did that also. That deck was stuck from the nut slowly rotating down locking that deck instead of letting it float. Thanks for the tip!!!!
checked with tire gauge and fine and it is a digital tire gauge
I have the exact same mower with the exact same problem. Tomorrow, I'll try to make the adjustments to those nuts ( "That's what she said"), and see if that helps. I looked at it last night and I can see where one side is higher/lower than the other but I can't seem to get the adjusting lock nut to spin. It's almost as if it was welded into place.
Those nuts seem to shake up or down even if you tighten them. I was thinking of using locktite on them to keep them in place. Let me know how it worked out
3” is short enough, lawn pros will tell you 3.5”. So I like to set my anti-scalping wheels to just barely touch at 2.5” I’ve had good luck with them placed in the first hole. Like your idea of checking in for them all touching when you’re sitting on it in the garage and lower the deck.
I do it before each mow to see if anything is off. I have something because I have a dip...I am looking into that this week to see what is going on.
I have a very irregularly sloped yard and so I’ve found myself having to mow somewhere in the 3-4 range, lately however I have been noticing scraping issues even when it’s set all the way to 4. Found out the other person that takes turn mowing it has been parking it and driving it around when the mower wasn’t engaged (when using an attachment to sweep, thatch, aerate , and use the trailer and I’m wondering if that bouncing around hasn’t caused the deck to drop on those adjustments.
I would take your mower and get it on flat surface, drop the deck till a wheel hits and see the other 3 wheels hit at the same time. If not, you will need to adjustment
My mother has a 2010 / 11 cub cadet and it mows too low always. I want to raise it to 4"... Is there any other adjustment other than the Bolts that are adjustable. Like moving a pin or something.
Check the bolt in the front of the deck also. That also plays a part in adjustments.
Hey you weren't wearing a mask when you did this video.... I hope I don't get sick from watching a year later without my mask on.... Thanks for the show. I wasn't sure about the front torsion bar though so... Anyway. Thanks
Just trying to entertain the world. Lol. Thanks for the comment.
Video was good but could have done without the loud music interruption. Thanks for video.
I agree. I changed that in new videos
That's what she said hahaha
Love it
My new LT is now 1/2" off the marked settings the adjustment nuts are seized, from the factory!
Impossible to move? Wd40?
Yep spray it and let it sit then do it again. But if you have a torch setup, just wire brush the threads right after the jam nut , then put the heat to the nut till it gets red hot, while it’s hot put a couple wrenches and break them free. If it’s still a pain, heat it again after you wire brush it again and add some more penetrating oil. I promise it will fix the problem unless it is just rusted to shit. Then either order the new rod or if you have the time make a new one. A piece of half inch rod or even threaded rod. 3/8” rod will work too. But I would use what was there. ✌️oh it’s hard to believe they are seized from the factory. They are just tightened really tight from the factory. Pretty sure I’m right. You have to turn the bottom nut to the left like you are tightening it down towards the deck and the top nut spin like you are tightening or loosening but spinning up away from the bottom nut. When the height is where you want it the nuts get tightened up against each other. Some people really don’t know this. But I know most do. Don’t mean to offend anyone. ✌️👍🇺🇸
You got your mower set too low for cutting needs to be 3 in or more
You mow at 3” and I will mow at 5/8th on my bermuda with no problems.
MY problem is one many owners of cub cadets have. The mower leaves an eight inch strip of half cut grass from under the left side of the deck while mowing. No blade or deck adjustment helps. I've had two mowers that both did the same and there are lots of reviews with this issue.
I never had an issue I wasn't able to fix. Never had a half cut blade either. I sharpen the blades 2x weekly.
@@LawnPusher I've even put it in the authorized dealer shop and had it adjusted and the blades replaced. Got it back still cutting poorly. It makes a great even cut until the last eight inches that are more pushed down instead of cut. I truly believe it's related to the shape of the deck.
@@71160000 I would love to see video or pictures of this issue. Not is weird
Why are you mowing so short? What grass type do you have?
Bermuda, and I mow it to the lowest setting because the lawn can take it
I have cables on my 2016 cub cadet and have a problem with the height of the deck . At the highest setting the deck wheels and deck are already on the ground . i looked at the cables and pulleys they seem fine . So what else could it be . I have no repair shops any where around here so use youtube to repair it myelf . So far new deck and drive belts and new spindles , Well really new bearings as sealed bearings were getting no grease going into them . So before they went out found out on youtube that inside seals on bearings should be removed and then refill the spindles with nw grease . Also found out zerk fittings were a little loose
The highest setting..the wheels are already on the ground? Can you even take it down to the lowest setting?
@@LawnPusher nope . the handle goes down but the deck can't move because it is so close to the ground .
@@sissymurphy9620 did you see how I was able to adjust from the rod on top? Maybe your adjust bar needs adjusting? Set height to the very bottom, check the nut and see where it’s at. I bet it’s doing what mine was doing and floating
@@LawnPusher I don't have a bar like yours I have a cable and there is no adjustments on the cable . Both ends are sealed and go over a pulley and attach to the frame at the top and the deck at the bottom
@@sissymurphy9620 I will look at the schematics.
my problem is opposite.. i am trying to get mine to cut at 4 inches and it wants to cut at 2
You can’t get your deck to go higher? You might need to do a adjustment. Message me on IG. LawnPusher.
@@LawnPusher tires are properly inflated and deck is adjusted up right to the point of spindle covers almost touching the frame.. i have it cutting even just it will not cut 4 inches.. the bolts have plenty of adjustment to raise it more but i literally have it a couple sheets of paper away from rubbing the frame.. all i can think is deal with it until i can get bigger tires to raise it some more.. thought about taking spindle covers off to gain maybe another half inch
Love to help. If you have Instagram, message me and pictures so I can see if I can help
@@LawnPusher your video was helpful and i thank you for taking the time to make it to share with others.. i do not have a cell phone but i thank you for your willingness to assist others
Get yo Deck Right! Haha haha.
You know I PITTL. Lol.
Good video except for the obnoxious music
I agree
I think the manual says the wheels should be 1/4 inch to 1/2 above ground at lowest deck setting. They shouldn’t rest on the ground
Everyone has different ways. This was to make sure the deck was level, not to the Cub Cadet Regulations. Plus I needed it lower to get my lawn cut at 5/8"
So, you don't mow, but scalp!
It’s Bermuda, so it’s not scalping…it’s mowing.
Operator should've verified deck level withing the first three feet of cutting. This shud never happen.
it happens when I mow on the lowest setting due to the deck rolling on the ground and not on the nuts on the deck bolts. They vibrate down with no pressure on them.
Irritating to the limit!
Time consuming also. I am not a fan
