Hello I was wondering if you can help me, so my pc was having issues after it’s last windows update in February and it started flickering turns out it was my resolution. I bought another temporary pc thinking it would replace my old one and unfortunately it was fine but could not run games well. So I have bought another one and it’s having the same sort of flickering issue and very choppy scrolling on google chrome. Please help me I’m panicking and my anxiety is through the roof
Delete the GPUCache folder in the following directory (for most it will be the C:\ disk but if your user folder is on another disk go there) C:\(your username)\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\ShaderCache\GPUCache. It fixes the issue without disabling hardware acceleration. A new GPU cache folder will be created on chrome startup automatically.

My chrome is actually partially black, the black shapes, but with a white background. I can still see my mouse turns to a pointing finger wherever i move it. I tried to Ctrl+h and it seems that black screen is invading, like there's some text but rather than to be black screen. the last i did to the chrome before this happen was to sync my google account with another device to the chrome. And after, black shapes are appearing right in the link bar, but the menu is still there though, and I tried to search google.com and i can't see the search bar or the logo, i followed the steps but nothing happens. Is my laptop the issue?

Old video but experiencing this problem with windows 11, just built this pc and it only occurs when i install the nvidia drivers.. oddly enough i think its due ti windows refresh rate being 1440p 59.95 instead of 60 because if i switch to 1080p 60 it doesnt happen, i dont want 1080p 60 though and it works qhile in a smaller box too. Idk what to do none of these fixes have worked from your videos.
Nice video. I have found a quick resolution is to go to Windows device manager and uninstall the current video card under "display adapters" as well. This fixes the black screen immediately and forces windows to re-download and install the video driver.

This is happening on my chromebook but it appears to be an issue with chrome. Even if I quite chrome (the app) the entire chromebook screen goes black for a couple seconds and comes back on with chrome (the app) back up and running but with an error message (did not shut down properly, restore pages?). I can't even try any of your fixes b/c the entire screen turns black so fast I can't get to the settings. Interestingly enough, of the 3 logins on the chromebook it only happens in one of them. Thanks for any suggestions, PLEASE!!
Murenne Philistin I actually deleted that particular login from the Chromebook and then added it back. This seemed to me a better fix than restoring factory settings and losing all 3 logins. It did work and her profile actually stayed the same.....
Mike's unboxing, reviews and how to check my reply below, by deleting the login altogether then adding it back everything works. It was definitely an issue w chrome (the app) and something I’ve never experienced where it blacked out the entire screen not just the chrome window. Obviously the mobile OS works differently than windows but a very weird issue to effect the entire screen.

I used the --disable-gpu fix in the properties tab of Google chrome, and it worked, but I don't understand what's wrong with my drivers. I reinstalled the Nvidia control panel and reinstalled GeForce Experience. It still won't let me turn it back on.

Thanks a lot..it works! I had bought a new vivobook 15 laptop with amd processor..just two days after, the Google Chrome page turned completely black and white with an initial colourized flicker when opening the page, I thought some malware might have infected my computer... I tried all possible ways to bring it back to normal and failed , and finally came to your video.. once I disabled hardware acceleration, the problem immediately got resolved!

@@OlettaLiano Edge is based on Chrome now, but better than Chrome which shows Google could sort Chrome if they wanted to. Over time I expect MS will integrate Edge even more- like they have integrated with Android. I loved my Windows Phone but the Android integration with Windows apps has helped a lot. It's usually more simpler reason why your phone screen is black, it's on some battery saving system. All you need to do is go into Chrome, right button 3 dots. Go down to settings then go down to theme. Then change from black to white screen. This is on Samsung Android anyway. Hope this helps you.

a got a new GPU and reinstalled (fresh) Win 11 and the flickering still didn't go away, so I followed a different video that said to disable hardware acceleration, clear cache, switch Chrome to use OpenGL instead and switch it to High performance in windows, and that seems to have fixed it.

LOL... we are doing outtakes now? Keep them coming, Mike! Good advice the Display Device Uninstaller program... haven't used it for years. In my opinion, only really required when changing from NV to ATI or vice versa. But if you suspect display driver issues, it sure is a great place to start!

So NVIDIA Gfe had an update several hours ago and then this happens to my Chrome. It flickers black screen. Was about to turn off hardware acceleration but the settings page not even loading up.

I need help. So today I was downloading modded apps on my phone. When you download it, it's like a file and you have to open it to install an app. Before opening, I always test everything on multiple antiviruses. Today virustotal found Android.Triada.A9a69 (it was detected only by CAT-QuickHeal, other antiviruses didn't find anything and I heard that this one has a lot of false positives) in my downloaded file, so I deleted it right away. I didn't open it and I scanned my phone by multiple antiviruses after deleting it. And it's clear, no viruses. However, tracking trojans is difficult, so maybe it's not safe at all. Do you think my phone is safe? I don't have a SIM card or credit card in this phone, so I guess noone can steal from me. But my dad would be so mad.

how to use buttons when screen is black, all these videos show you using chrome that isnt blacked out, but when i go push the button in the upper right hand corner, i cant see it at all

i changed from an amd gpu to a nvidia and every app that i open does the black screen, i searched in 1000 forums and this video was the only answer, now that i think the pc was trying to boot the apps with the amd cache then going off and opening with nvidia cache but without saving it because of the old one, thanks man this was a really awfull problem ahahah
This is a shotgun solution that will leave you with significantly decreased performance. The true solution would be to further narrow down which hardware acceleration feature is producing the bug after initially concluding that disabling all hardware acceleration makes the bug not appear.
I installed Acrobat from Abode and pressed a few wrong buttons and now my internet Chrome browser is completely black. I tried what you suggested but it didn't help. Any other tips?

try using a different hi speed HDMI cable if you haven't already

have you done all the Windows updates, then install the chipset drivers and after that the graphics card drivers? that should help

Thanks Mike. I've never encountered this problem with chrome, but then I use firefox 90% of the time.
Wish I could escape the google and TH-cam strangle hold I actually mostly used ie for browsing until I started TH-cam
@@mikesunboxing You used IE? I only use that after a new install to download Firefox and Chrome. After that I'd delete it if I had the option. The less MS in my life the better. I thinking seriously about moving to Linux.
@@OlettaLiano Edge is based on Chrome now, but better than Chrome which shows Google could sort Chrome if they wanted to. Over time I expect MS will integrate Edge even more- like they have integrated with Android. I loved my Windows Phone but the Android integration with Windows apps has helped a lot. Fan boi disregard for anything MS is wrong headed as MS is a major contributor to Linux.
@@twmbarlwmstar I appreciate your opinion. But for me firefox is my main browser. I only use chrome to keep my business stuff and fun time stuff separate. As for phones, I'll have to take you at your word. I don't own a phone and know much about them.
It's usually more simpler reason why your phone screen is black, it's on some battery saving system. All you need to do is go into Chrome, right button 3 dots. Go down to settings then go down to theme. Then change from black to white screen. This is on Samsung Android anyway. Hope this helps you.

Sometimes when I am watching a video online on google, when I put it in full screen, part of the screen is hid by part of a recently closed or current tab which prevents me from watching the video on full screen. How do I solve this?
try updating the GPU drivers and see if that fixes it

a got a new GPU and reinstalled (fresh) Win 11 and the flickering still didn't go away, so I followed a different video that said to disable hardware acceleration, clear cache, switch Chrome to use OpenGL instead and switch it to High performance in windows, and that seems to have fixed it.

LOL... we are doing outtakes now? Keep them coming, Mike! Good advice the Display Device Uninstaller program... haven't used it for years. In my opinion, only really required when changing from NV to ATI or vice versa. But if you suspect display driver issues, it sure is a great place to start!
I swapped a rx580 4gb to a rx580 8gb and it triggered this problem for me, which surprises me to say the least.

basically i still use a windows 7 computer and while using chrome my computer has restarted a few times...so earlier my computer said there was a start up error and prompted me to perform a start up repair? so i performed the start up repair, it restarted windows and ever since, google chrome won't open when i click it? basically i have a lot of data stored in chrome that i don't want to lose, thousands of bookmarks, webpages etc....
last time i used chrome i was signed in and it was syncing my data. so i was wondering if you could help , as i'm quite worried about it here, i'm no tech expert, so i'm relying on your help? thanks.
if you sign in on another PC it will sync all the saved items

Hey Mike, how do your instructions change if the black screen happens, on video-playing-screen only, with dual monitor set up? Initially, I changed my refresh rate and the black screen stopped, but now it's back. Thanks so much. Also, if I move the video to the non-main screen, videos seem to then play fine.

I get only black screen below bookmarks when computer wakes up after hibernation. It lasts 10-15 seconds but it's very irritating. Is there a fix for that? I tried both solutions you talked about and it doesn't work.

My browsers and windows settings only has about a quarter of the screen showing and the other side either white or black. But it shows up again once I minimize the tab. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I need help.
So today I was downloading modded apps on my phone. When you download it, it's like a file and you have to open it to install an app. Before opening, I always test everything on multiple antiviruses. Today virustotal found Android.Triada.A9a69 (it was detected only by CAT-QuickHeal, other antiviruses didn't find anything and I heard that this one has a lot of false positives) in my downloaded file, so I deleted it right away. I didn't open it and I scanned my phone by multiple antiviruses after deleting it. And it's clear, no viruses. However, tracking trojans is difficult, so maybe it's not safe at all. Do you think my phone is safe? I don't have a SIM card or credit card in this phone, so I guess noone can steal from me. But my dad would be so mad.

how to use buttons when screen is black, all these videos show you using chrome that isnt blacked out, but when i go push the button in the upper right hand corner, i cant see it at all
try the other video were you just delete the cache folder, much easier
when I add "--disable-gpu", I get an error saying something like "invalid command" and I can't close the properties window (I have the "everything is black" problem that started today but had no issue yesterday) Is there a new version of the command to disable the GPU? Thanks!
just reinstall the GPU drivers it works much better in the long run

try booting your pc into safe mode and then you should be able to do it

I have an Iphone 8+ with IOS14 on it and if I watch like a film or something on chrome it will show after like 5-10 minutes (without any problems) a dark screen and the loading thing. Then if I go to chrome the website wont be there. Pls respond

remove the app then clear the apps cache then reboot and reinstall, that should fix it - hopefully

i changed from an amd gpu to a nvidia and every app that i open does the black screen, i searched in 1000 forums and this video was the only answer, now that i think the pc was trying to boot the apps with the amd cache then going off and opening with nvidia cache but without saving it because of the old one, thanks man this was a really awfull problem ahahah

This is a shotgun solution that will leave you with significantly decreased performance. The true solution would be to further narrow down which hardware acceleration feature is producing the bug after initially concluding that disabling all hardware acceleration makes the bug not appear.

I installed Acrobat from Abode and pressed a few wrong buttons and now my internet Chrome browser is completely black. I tried what you suggested but it didn't help. Any other tips?
you can try disabling hardware acceleration, i showed this in another video which is linked in the description.
