- NetEase and Marvel Games have announced Marvel Rivals, a team-based PVP shooter set in the Marvel Universe. Will this game be a success or fail really fast? Are hero shooters still all the rage? Marvel Rivals is a free-to-play 6v6 team-based game which is played from a third-person viewpoint.
Players can choose from a selection of Marvel super heroes and super villains from the Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, X-Men and more

creating the game not hard but the real style, animations, models, how it functions hard part and companies lie by part to maker more money from new good one that rival them don't haven't but to late now
Playtested this game and nice to see it finally announced and personally am very excited to play this game! been an overwatch veteran and yeah the similarites are there and would mostly agree with the people saying its more like paladins as overwatch seems to feel faster pace, quicker and more chaotic
As long as they aren't as retarded as the OW2 devs when it comes to matchmaking, it will overtake OW2.
This will get some numbers if the alpha/beta aren’t complete disasters. Marvel is still a very strong IP and some markets absolutely LOVE these types of games still.
It’s funny how you worded this because me and my friends always said years ago that a marvel themed game that is like overwatch would have been awesome….we dreamed of each character like Ironman Thor hulk Spider-Man in a team based game doing objectives together and going against another team

Who would of thought, hero shooter genre finally getting preexisting heroes. I'm surprised it took this long. Im pretty interested ngl.
I genuinely hate the Overwatch comparisons. Why can we not just call it a Hero Shooter? Comparing games is fine, but especially within the context of Overwatch and other Hero Shooters the comparisons seem to be made to discredit the other games as mere clones. It has become so bad that some devs of Hero Shooters are scared of releasing characters that are even remotely similar to overwatch ones. The devs of a spiritual successor to a before dead, now being revived, Hero shooter game, Gigantic, mentioned that when Ashe released for Ow1, they asked the Gigantic devs if they should change one of their heroe’s abilities to avoid comparisons, and the Gigantic devs said that they absolutely should, because even though Gigantic was revealed and playable long before Overwatch, and played completely different, the game was still accused of leaching of of Overwatch, due to having a couple of heroes that were similar.
Funny you mention Gigantic (we are so back edition). Because this marvel cash grab seems to have more in common with gigantic than overwatch. Especially with melee seeming to have more of a place in this game.

Look, I'm not gonna hold my breath either, especially since it is made by NetEase, but i don't think it is very productive to call it a cash grab right of the bat. There is no doubt a lot passionate people working on this, and I can only give them praise for what they have shown so far.
Its because overwatch is the main hero shooter. Its the reason why all horror Asyms get compared to DBD, or tac shooters to csgo. When you have one big game in a genre, all other games will just b e compoared to it. @@KyhlTheWeaver
I mean Overwatch was one of the most influential hero-based shooters, and it's still present in popular consciousness, so of course it's going to be compared. It's like how in the early days of shooters FPS were originally called doomclones, because DOOM was that influential.

Tbh this is my past dream after i saw overwatch. But after overwatch downfall and watching hero shooter. I dont have high expectations for it.
Overwatch still the best PVP game that exists though which is sad.
@@EpicBongZilla The Finals, Siege, Dota 2, all are very good experiences, have you tried them yet (Ik Siege is 30 bucks but it’s worth it with friends trust me).
If you have played them and still prefer OW, maybe it’s the gameplay style you prefer, but the updates have been decent recently

Bro overwatch is doing fine, it's getting constant updates, new heroes, new maps, they just released the April's fool event which is actually one of the best events they have ever made, really good crossovers like Cowboy bepop, high player number on steam (where nobody plays this game). The game is doing fine and now getting to your point, yes the game isn't close to the epitome of perfection that won goty in 2016 but there is no downfall happening. I agree with that.
Overwatch went to crap while the pve was being worked on, but now that they’ve scrapped the pve the game is a whole lot better. Much livelier than it was towards the end of ow1

I think we're safe from over monetization looking at the recent 1.5 billion dollars Disney gave to Fortnite, when there is almost no pay to win mechanics, it sounds like you'll probably get a battle pass and skins. Maybe heroes too? But I don't think it'll be pay to win.
Better to be cautious. Not saying it will be pay to win but cosmetics could easily cost a ton. Always best to wait till launch.

@@TheCosmicViking We will just have too see. I don't wanna get my hopes up. Don't forget Marvel's Avengers didn't come out that long ago. And the micro transactions in that were very egregious and it wasn't a mobile game. But we will just have to wait and see. Hoping for the best!

It's more like Overwatch meets Paladins with a Marvel skin. We'll have to see how it feels and plays and what they have lined up for it's future. But I'm hoping to be wrong about it being a desperate cash grab.
If the alpha and beta do well, monetization is fair and game plays well with content for the future then it has a real shot.

It will pull in people like me who usually don't like these kind of games. I can't wait to play this, and only over monitising it will hurt it. Also preying they don't take too long to put Wolverine, and Deadpool in.

That’s what kinda separates it from overwatch is that the combos, their are specific hero combos here but with overwatch it’s just synergy
This is the first video I'm seeing of this channel and can I just say? This has to be some of the most level-headed and comprehensively informative style of gaming news coverage I have seen in a while.
Laying out all the facts that there are to know, the solid takes on what to look out for as both a player and a dev, the analytical and understanding approach to some of the more vague details like the mention of battlefield developers being involved in this project, the simply sensible amount of speculation here and there, and all that paired with a little bit of humor and such to keep things from feeling sterile. Seems to me (just a random viewer) like you have the perfect package for this type of content right here.

According to them they are working on the idea of bringing it to console, also we could probably assume some of the first characters would be Captain America, Thor, maybe some like Cyclops.

I swear if this is a decent game and it pops off I will definetely play it. The art style looks good from here and if they polish it and the gameplay is fun then we will finally have a shooter Im interested in.

I'm 4 weeks late BUT!
I really hope for a few things to be in the game or more accurate in the game settings
1. Option to Choose the *EXACT* voice chat output and input and the same for the game sounds, I have a few mics and headphones so I want to have the option to choose which Ill use
2. IDK if its possible but its probably is, I Want an option to play in 1st option or 3rd person because I'm an OW Player and its gonna be hard to get used to 3rd person instead of 1st.

Ngl if they added in PvE missions I'd drop OW down the list of games I play for this.
What we really need is a new Marvel V Capcom or just Marvel fighter with some of the tough art they showcased for this game.
I'm gonna try out every character, though I think the ones I'm looking forward to the most are Peni, Illyana, & Wanda.
The team up attack reminds me of the ultimate alliance team up attacks in a way. I hope they drop an ultimate alliance 4 soon.

I think another thing to note when it comes to characters is how they are gonna balance it for comic readers and non comic readers
What I mean is will they only have popular characters in movies or will they go into the comics

ok since this game is produced or worked by netease it have a possibility to lunch on mobile but I don't know if it well succeed since game's like warzone, and apex was to much on Android but how know maybe it can go since netease already have a fps game (blood strike) that run smoothly on a ton of android device so i think they might optimize it for mobile since there might be a cross progression like what they did in warzone (which sucks on mobile) i just hope they don't rush this game if they are gonna release it on mobile

Despite me being an ironman fan not really a fan of dps unless they have really cool Mobility. I’m curious to try dr strange despite me not really being a fan of him like that. Him as a tank seems cool.

I don't really see a lot of similarities to overwatch asides from having ability cooldowns and being a team pvp. Overwatch failed to evolve and the new characters are kind of mid. This game, so far, has no similar hero abilities to overwatch.
Late heroes are mid. But Sojourn, Queen, Kiriko, even latest Venture are Gold standard heroes
Dr.Strange Portals = Symettra Teleport
Loki hero copy = Echo ultimate
Hulk Tempo Tank transformation mechanics = Ramattra

i play ranked, most people do use coms in overwatch, but i guess it depends on your rank tho
I’ve played since release (2016) and have climbed from bronze to masters and I can confirm it largely depends on your rank.
From bronze to low gold no one talks, from high gold to diamond people talk but it’s just to cuss out their team and in masters people use actual comms

coms are one of the most fun things about this game for me, when your whole team is screaming monkey at the top of their lungs no other game can compare

It’s a free game. With it being marvel and all, I expect it to have a massive player base. Hopefully they know to keep it engaging for years. The biggest measurement of success for them will be how well they market the micro transactions. As long as they don’t put new heroes/villains behind a paywall we will be good to go.

Ngl it looks more like other Team-shooters then it looks like overwatch. Paladins would be a bit better of a comparison, but i just hope they leanr feom the mistake those games made. Most Team-based shooters have all similiar problems and i hope they tackle those in the Marvel game. I hope the Game ends up beeing good
