I expected the Pumas to win, just not by so much. Italy held onto the game for some 55 mins, and then they fell off the map. The Pumas simply had that extra gear when it mattered, I'd even say they have better aerobic fitness. But more importantly (setting aside the initial minutes, when the commentators were joking, that we're watching sevens rugby), Argentina played a much more complete, better thought through game. One stat at the end of the match underlined it all: Argentina kicked some 760m, while Italy 400-something. You can't win international rugby matches, when you're getting outclassed like this in tactical kicking. If the other team kick way better, you're constantly losing the territorial battle, and are forced to run uphill. Argentina are slowly turning into a bona fide complete team, that has mastered every facet of the game. We've already seen it in TRC. This newfound tactical kicking mastery has Contepomi written all over it. They are also starting to grow a much broader squad. No Matera, no Kremer, no Petti, no Lavanini, no Carreras (neither Matteo, nor Santiago), no Chocobares, no Boffeli, yet they still put Italy to the sword. If they could get their consistency sorted, they'd be a top 5 team. They can literally beat anyone.

Was in Udine for this one! I was impressed by Italy’s forwards. They held their own for a majority of the match. It was definitely the backs and their inability to contend with the high balls and Argentine kicks that cost them. That and their players dropping like flies to injuries throughout the match. Worries me a tad for next week against Georgia.

Argentina lleva 3 meses consecutivos jugando juntos y viene de un partido contra los All Blacks, por lo que todos los jugadores tienen tiempo de juego y la combinación del equipo es excelente. Para Italia este fue el primer partido juntos después del 6N y el día antes del partido muchos de los jugadores sufrieron problemas gastrointestinales (esto no es una excusa sino un hecho). Argentina claramente superior a Italia en juego, cohesión y velocidad (pero no en scrum), pero ese resultado es mentira, es resultado de las oportunidades y de los diferentes caminos de las dos selecciones, pertenecientes a dos hemisferios diferentes. You should include Georgia instead of dropping Italy. Each team only plays each other once so it's not a big deal to add one more

I was expecting an Arg win, but not as hefty. I was wishing Italy the best, for Quesada and the Italo-Argentinians in their team. To me it was a sloppy mediocre match. IRE don´t have much to fear against ARG.
