Great video. Thanks for making these. Respect and appreciate you leaving the mistakes in. I'm a beginner and I have a tendency to get frustrated and chase perfection, but I've been telling myself that mistakes happen and its all about how you deal with it. Nice to a see a pro make mistakes and still make it look sick in the end.
Thanks a lot Colin I really appreciate you stopping by and leaving a comment! Frustrating times come and go. The ones that flow out with ease make it worth while
I'm glad you made some mistakes! It teaches me how to fix them. I'm currently practicing on glass and understand the perfection. Thanks for your shared video and talent! Looking forward to seeing more!
anne morgan I appreciate you following my page Anne. Mistakes are a huge part of learning this craft and I still wipe off Many Many of my practice designs due to unsatisfactory results. Much luck with your pinstriping and if you have any questions just ask.
At 28:01 I hear a weird disembodied voice. Right after you say "I'm going to add something to this one.” Never noticed it before but this was my first time listening with headphones on 😯
I'm new to this and you are very clear with how to do it. I like the design as well. I have bought a BOBBO MACK 1 and a MACK 00 to start me off on my journey into pinstriping .
how do you layout the designs? newbe here and I am having layout issues not knowing how to do it. I want to stripe a toolbox and it dosent have a grid on it and kinda lost on where to start and mostly what to do as a layout
Highly suggest you practice on flat surfaces creating designs and studying them on your down time before attempting a square box. I have a bunch of videos on simple pinstriping designs maybe those could help you get some ideas
So do you just reduce with thinner or mineral spirits I've only used mineral spirits to reduce the 1 shot paint my brush seems to wanna get hard and not stay stoft cant get that fat thin look when baring down or pulling up to the tip you know kinda wants to clump on the brush
@@risingsungarage350 I reduced for many years with mineral spirits. I prefer Naphtha now. You can usually find it in the same places. How long have you been Pinstriping?
Kenn Maxx Pinstriping is almost impossible to film overhead. The action requires the person to hover over the panel almost completely covering the work being done, not to mention glare. I've tried a few different angles. This one seems to work out the best. I wish it was easier to film
Me again with a question do you find it easier working flat or vertical and does standing make any difference? I have only pulled thirty or forty lines and it seems I started out the gate great, but tried later at home with a new unprepared brush and it’s all over. Hoping brush prep will at least help?
It's difficult to say to Be honest. For me it depends on what type of work they want done, how much is involved. I don't have any set dollar amount for any set anything really. I just weigh out the situation and go from there. (This is a lifetime craft/hobby for me, not my full time job) So I turn down a lotta work if its not something I wanna do.
Work on colors, I have almost no doubt you could have picked a better second color. I realize color is highly subjective, but some colors just work, and some don't. Great work sir!
1. Practice scrolling 3 times a week 2. Make sure you have the paint reduced correctly 3. Slow down 4. Make bigger scrolls 5. don't push down too hard on the brush 6. Practice
Thank you man I appreciate it , Great video also! I’m just starting and I’m learning from your videos and the Kafka videos just wanted to say thanks and keep doing what your doing it’s highly appreciated!
roledog77 Mack 10 series, Kafka brand brushes, Von Dago brushes are all really good. No such thing as beginner brushes, they are all just different in size and style.. you eventually find your preference
thanks ,I'm gonna check out those brands.Do you think I could practice with rustoleum enamel paint???I heard rustoleum was used to pinstripe back in the day. Your vids are awesome!!!!
roledog77 I heard that you can use Rust-Oleum. But I would suggest you just get a small can or two of one shot lettering enamel. When you first start out you're going to have a lot of confusion and doubt as to why things may not be going correctly. Having the correct tools will at least keep that doubt at Bay. My favorite place to order from online is Blick art. Or eBay.... $50 should get you started easily
Villa Pinstriping when you want to clean a smudge or a line you don’t like ,try rubbing alcohol 70% isopropyl. No streaks or bleeding ,just a perfect clean wipe!
I am just now getting into the art of pinstriping and lettering and so glad I found your channel. Love the design and the colors used in this video!
Thank you very much!

Brilliant video thank you for sharing your techniques keep making the videos
BMW Steve thanks for watching!!
ANOTHER AWSOME VIDEO MAN, THANK YOU

Great video just ordered some painting supplies yesterday. Can't wait to paint my Harley.
Good luck!!! I wish you the best on your project!!

Fingers Three Great brushes! Have a great time learning and thanks for the support! Feel free to ask any questions if you have some.
Love your videos!
Thanks Robert!!
Awesome design! What are the colors used here and the brand? Beautiful work! Thanks again
This video is a few years old, but I do believe this was the Kansas City teal and Sublime Green. 1 shot paint
@@villapinstriping Thank you for your replies
@@jeffdeluca1153 You're welcome
I like your pinstipering
Thanks a lot James!
BEAUTIFUL
Thank you
Great work, man. The Kafka #0 is my go to brush for most of my work. Enjoyed watching you paint.
I've been using a zero for a while now too.. but only because I couldn't find any #1's at the time. Still a killer brush!
Very beautiful
I'm starting to like you.
Compliments of your new friend
Thank you very much!
Very nice work and greatly instructional.
Dr. Mike Day, DC, CME Thanks!!
Dr. Mike Day, DC, CME Thanks!!
awsome i really like the way you talk through them
Do you have a link for that brush? I don’t see it in the list in your description 🤔
That one hardly ever gets sold on Amazon unfortunately.
Just Google Kafka scroll Pinstriping brush and you should be able to find some for sale.

All of the designs that I do are freehand so I don't create anything before they are made
Nice!
Do you use any flow enhancers I use kafka scroll brush on glass and the brush seems to not want to flare out when baring down on it
I don't use any flow enhancers. Flare outs are common in the early stages. Slow down, make sure you pallet your brush well and stay on the tip
So do you just reduce with thinner or mineral spirits I've only used mineral spirits to reduce the 1 shot paint my brush seems to wanna get hard and not stay stoft cant get that fat thin look when baring down or pulling up to the tip you know kinda wants to clump on the brush
That's why I wanted to try a flow enhancer and see how it does for me
@@risingsungarage350 Can't hurt to try!! 🙂 But I don't personally use any.
@@risingsungarage350 I reduced for many years with mineral spirits. I prefer Naphtha now. You can usually find it in the same places.

Really good work. Although it would so much nicer to watch with an overhead camera setup.
Kenn Maxx Pinstriping is almost impossible to film overhead. The action requires the person to hover over the panel almost completely covering the work being done, not to mention glare. I've tried a few different angles. This one seems to work out the best. I wish it was easier to film
Kenn Maxx I even tried a head strapped setup, but I was super awkward. Threw me completely out of my "comfort" level
Ahhhh, I see. Well no worries. Perhaps in the future you may find a solution. Love the work though!

Vickie Gorman flat surface is always easier for me. But you need to practice all sides and angles
Vickie Gorman you will only see progress every few months, after hundreds of lines.
Vickie Gorman Practice at first in whatever way your comfortable. I sit with an angled easel. About chest high
I have a Question:
Could you turn this upside down and still
do the scrolling ??
I have never done this... so I don't know if
it could be done.
Yes I believe so.
Wow! Your pinstriping puts me to sleep!!! I have done pinstriping for thirty years and I can’t go that slow. Your paint will dry before you finish!!!
I'm still in the early stages Malcolm. I go slow to try to make better designs.
30 years is a long time man. nothing some reducer cant fix.
Do you ever paint on anything without grid
No, I have only one good eye so symmetry is difficult without the aid of a grid
How do you calculate your charge for the job?
It's difficult to say to Be honest. For me it depends on what type of work they want done, how much is involved. I don't have any set dollar amount for any set anything really. I just weigh out the situation and go from there. (This is a lifetime craft/hobby for me, not my full time job)
So I turn down a lotta work if its not something I wanna do.
So what size grid do you have on the backside of the glass?
Dennis Hanna 2" I think
❤❤
Thank you!

Thanks Leo! This is an older video. Lately my colors have gotten a little better I think
I’m having a tuff time with scrolling any tips
1. Practice scrolling 3 times a week
2. Make sure you have the paint reduced correctly
3. Slow down
4. Make bigger scrolls
5. don't push down too hard on the brush
6. Practice
Expect slight improvement after months worth of practice.. It takes a lot of time
Thank you man I appreciate it , Great video also! I’m just starting and I’m learning from your videos and the Kafka videos just wanted to say thanks and keep doing what your doing it’s highly appreciated!
Also had another question I’m practicing on a piece of see threw plastic will practice on glass make a bigger difference?

Lol. Good call ;)
Broke your phone don't worry it's time to buy new one
I did finally :)
You'll never get good at this if you always use a grid
Thank you for your opinion
