Totally loved your video! I learned so much. It's an honor to learn from a pro, not many willing to show how they do it. I hope you make many more, like tips on how to repair screwups, lol. I have a hot rod but can't afford your professional work, so at least now I can say I learned from the best! Will do a lot of practice before I start, thank you!

Very well done, tutoring aspiring artists & old timers alike is not an easy task.
You posses the talent, patience, & soothing voice to walk your students thru the intricacies of this lost art.
Sadly in this day & age people have been conditioned to posses little or no patience to master such a discipline.
Trust me I love technology as much as the next guy however, a desktop & a plotter can crank out a decal & earn you enough to get by. Or produce a hand painted 1of that has true artistic value for a nice sum.
I admire you for body of work & the love for the discipline...you are a Master of your craft.
    Love & Respect.

Wow, Jen - I would not be overstating when I say you are an absolutely excellent, natural teacher. If you were new to making a tutorial, it sure didn't show here. I literally felt like I was student in a class. Nice job. About 10 years ago, I was given a new set of Mack brushes as a gift. Absolutely……the best…..tutorial on the internet. VERY well explained Jen!! I started striping about 30 years ago, for a brief period…I was terrible at it, and haven’t done it since then. Turns out, I was holding the brush upside down!!! Now, 30 years later, I’m going to give it another shot!! I’m pretty decent at lettering with quills, but striping for me was a challenge. Now I know why!! Thanks for rekindling my interest Jen!!! You’re the best!!

Great video. People need to stop 🛑 talking about left and right hand . They say it’s hard because I’m lefty . It doesn’t matter at all. Because “ dagger style “ pinstriping is symmetrical . Therefore we pull left and right C curves and so on . And the flat part will always face left regardless of righty or lefty . Check out Jen’s video that she did for Eastwood. It’s incredible. Jen has the best crossovers in the business IMO.

Thanks so much for taking the time to make these videos. I've been dabbling in pinstriping and lettering for years, but it's always helpful to go back to basics and look over the shoulder of a master. Just talking through what you're thinking as you're working- like the lift in the middle of an S-curve, and the wiggle at the end of the line - are things that you don't get from watching timelapses and seeing finished work. Lookin forward to more!
For a mineral spirits substitute, I switched to Eco-House extra-mild citrus thinner - It's not non-toxic, since it's still a solvent, but it smells good and cuts way down on the fumes. I still use the 1-shot reducer for thinning, but for traditional oil paints I use Eco-House for both thinning and cleaning.

Is not easy to find materials, inks, and brushes here. I started a small store to help people find what they need for pinstriping, here in Brazil. But not easy. A few small nail holes around the rim bottom will help keep a clean lid. Mostly for if someone pours out of the can.

Very Good video explaining out how you start to get in to pin stripping is very helpful ! All the little things you tell us is great, as when just watching someone it is hard to figure out what is being done ! Just order one shot starter kit , feel watching you will really help me get started and see if I can do it! After some practices I plan on trying it out on my old truck ! will have to get reducers and mineral oil local, will be a whole lot cheaper ,paid $200 ,for three cans and 3 brushes in the one shot starter kit so took a long time to pull the trigger on get started ,not available were I live !

I learned more in this lesson than I have learned from quite a few other Pinstriping videos. Like, caring for your brush and using glass as a practice medium etc. I restore old bicycles, and I need to be able to do simple lining on lugs and forks etc, no big hot rods, but being able to get a good line on a curvy surface is important.

I pinstriped (finelined) for over 10yrs. I hand painted 10's of thousands of product in that time. I have to say the preferred method of holding the brush is with a folded index finger. Firstly It frees up more fingers to offer support. Good support is the key to consistent lines. Good support means, more confident, faster lines. The faster the line the more aesthetically pleasing.
Also held in such a way(the third method in the video) it is easier to spin the brush when painting curves.

Thank you for the information. I just started pinstriping. I've watched a few videos already and by far yours was the best one out there. I'll be watching more. I've seen your work on your Facebook page and it is incredible.

Hi Jen , Your so amazing in your art , and really good teacher …! I’m from Quebec Canada and pinstriping is less popular here but I love it so mush…one day it will be nice to see you striping a outline all around old school flame … twist, twist…!😅, thanks a lot and continue your good work…

Beautiful video, full of information. The close-up shot shows very well how you make the brush work. Thanks.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I have that exact same screwdriver. Had it for decades. Symmetry is something I never was able to do, gotta work on that. At least I learned that I have been using my brushes upside down.

Great to watch someone working from the right side of their brain since I do too. Watching you has helped me immensely, but you were right you did forget to explain something in your video. I was waiting to hear what you use to clean your metal canvas when practicing. Your videos are awesome and thanks for going out of your way to produce them! 😉👍🏻
