- I break down the running fuel costs of idling on the road versus having a gas sipping generator you can make yourself, without breaking the bank. if you want a request on the build and how I got more hours per gallon, etc, shoot me a comment. otherwise, short and sweet video

I’ve got the same unit and it works great. Runs everything and the ac in FL gets down to 65° . I had to turn it up so I didn’t wake up sick. Price a brand new APU when I bought my truck it was gonna cost around $13,000 installed. So I am still under $1500. I can’t be happier.
I thought about doing a TH-cam video on it, but there’s so many here I don’t have to.
Great video
This is good! You could almost buy a Néw generator ever month and still save money.
Good job
Man that is a Nice Setup for a Jar Head !Just messing .but that is a nice setup inside the cab also.
Really nice video. I enjoy watching it and I’m thinking to do a same set up can you send me a built description thank you.
It totally makes sense to buy a generator. Though your math is a bit wonky, 70 per week ( 10/2: 5), 70/5: 14 gal times cost @3.20. Equals $44.80 to run per week. 😉
Oops! Still cheaper than the alternative 😂😂. Btw the whole Genny set up is still running 10 hours a day for my detailing trailer. 2000+ hours with regular maintenance
Three gallon a round trip son beter thats wat a usu on my😂 set up 😊
Excellent video!!
What’s the model for the tool box? Please
This biggest tool box DeWalt makes 🤷🏻♂️
Was the fan pushing or pulling air?
Did you buy a regular box from Home Depot and cut out the holes for the vents and fan ?
Yes cut the vents
What’s up buddy you gave me good idea how to build cover for my generator, I got one question whether the fan is blowing air in or out?
Blows in. The exhaust side of the generator blow out as well. (Gen pulls air into and around where exhaust exits)
Can you make the fans blowing out?
@@ppgk92 I wouldn't advise that. The setup I have done keeps the heat away from the generator and there's no moving components to overheat risking a fire. Easy in, easy out
Where did you buy the fan that's on your box
Pretty much any auto parts store off the shelf. I got the biggest one they had at AutoZone for I think an older Honda Civic. As we speak the Genset is running my detailing trailer and never skipped a beat!
What Milwaukee box is that? And how do you power the fan
Fan plugs directly to the 12v plug on generator, and the box is a DeWalt pack out box from home Depot. It's still in use, still same generator also
yes idling takes almost 6× more than generator
Can u do a update, and whats the name of the box u have the generator in?
Currently it's on my detailing trailer. Ocdetailing303 on insta/fb/youtube
How does it do in the box with heat
Since it's been high 90s and over 100 in the new trailer setup, never had any issues 🤷🏻♂️😎
Good morning I have a quick question where did u get the toolbox and what size
Home depot, and the size off hand was the same width as the generator. I'll have to look it up again
What size DEWALT is that
62 gallons
@fatboyrc9812 62 gallons cost $129 at home depot
Did u have to put a plug end on the fan to plug in to the generator
Yes
@@allamericantruckerrob9777 was it a regular wall plug or do you have to use a 12v adapter?
Are u getting carbon monoxide inside your sleeper ?while parked in between other trucks ?
None. Doesn't even register on the alarm
@@allamericantruckerrob9777 dam I don’t know how to put mine I always get carbon monoxide in the sleeper while Parked at truck stop . I even tried putting the exhaust to the bottom, side , top and I keep having same issue ☹️
@@AkiraKigRace Look at sealing the likely underside of bunk
I have a 10k watt loud ass generator, i think i need to upgrade
Now they have 5k watt gen set that's the same quietness. I shoulda waited 🤦🏼♂️. This little 3800 is still kicking strong!
@@allamericantruckerrob9777 I have had mine almost 10 years, time for a upgrade for sho.
Yep the inverter type
@@allamericantruckerrob9777 More output is bigger motor, or more gas...if ya don't need it don't burn it
Can you make a video of how you mouted that box to the cat walk
Nope, I sold the truck and my company last year. 😢
All I did was cargo strap it when moving and my locking cables to make stealing it harder. Drill holes, feed the cable through and lock it
@@allamericantruckerrob9777 Sorry to see you sold the company. :(
Any issues with the DOT about the setup?
Where did you get this box sir
Home Depot. It's the DeWalt pack out box
Thank you brother did you put the fan did you open that position or it comes with open
@@abdiqaniadan2349 I went to advanced auto and got a fan of the shelf. Its a 12" Honda Civic fan and spliced the 12v wire to the goofy looking "v" shaped plug that goes into the 12v female plug on the generator. Kicks in immediately when the generator starts. I have the fan PUSHING air INTO the box so exhaust and heat goes out of the side the exhaust is sticking out on. Never overheats even in record temps when I was in death valley
Can you tell me size of your fan?
No idea, just an off the shelf maybe 12 inch. 12v fan
Thanks for your reply, I ordered same fan 12 inch. Fan I was using first didn’t push enough air so my generator kept cutting off from co sensor when I close my box
@@allamericantruckerrob9777 i ended up getting ryobi with the electric start. Should have gotten the Predator
@@bosleylogisticsllc8244 ah man I see the new one 5000 predator with electric start.... I'm going to upgrade to that after or IF mine craps out.
👍Good information But why are you making this video that your talking about something very important, why Gosh darn loud music playing so we can't here what your saying??? WTF are you doing? darn. Can you please re record this so we can here what the heck your saying??? NO MUSIC just say what ever it is that is about the Gen Set. Thank you for trying to do something for the good of all of us. wow. 👍
I tried to keep the music down so it's not to interfere too much and I picked something pretty light and instrumental so that way there's no gaps and silent parts in the video. Makes it more entertaining for some people a treat for the ears if you will. I watch the video again when I stop except I'll use my cell phone speaker maybe I'm missing something here
Okay so the high pitch twangy parts of the song I guess could be a little distracting I'll make note of that for the next video
@@allamericantruckerrob9777 sorry about the hard Rant. but I finally got to here it. After running your video in a audio EQ device to scrub down the Hi's from the music. So don't worry. :) and thanks again for the Great Break down. Your Good. and yeh, you cannot argue with the numbers. Make your own little Gen Set for the overnights/bunk time. Again. Thank you 👍👍👍
