These guys always kicked ass. Growing up in Jacksonville, just about everybody loved these guys, Country, Metal, hell I have frinds that were into punk rock but they love .38 Special & Skynyrd.
OMG !!.....38 Special Always Kicked ASS ,,proud to say seen em Every single time they came to Ole St. Lou back in the late 70's early 80's ....YA ...Southern Rock !
Lucky enough to see 38 Special right after Wild Eyes was released with Molly Hatchet. The two drummers was awesome. Only band I ever have seen that did this. This was the height of Southern Rock- Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Outlaws, Molly Hatchet and 38 Special (and maybe Blackfoot) are the the Mt. Rushmore of Southern Rock.
The hardest working man in music poured Jack daniels all over me and all my friends at a concert in 1982 believe, and we loved it! Rest in peace, Donnie.
I had the rare priveledge of seeing them in Redmond, Or. at the Hooker Creek Events Center, the summer of 2008 or 9. I'm sorry I cant remember the exact year. But, they did not fail to give the crowd a top-notch show. But, I'd also have to say, I don't think half the crowd quite knew what to make of them. Oh well. Their loss.
That fucking song has some of thee best guitar fills , the solos, outrosolo ....rhifucknoceros balls!!! Melodic and bad as fuck! And that critique is coming from a big city Schenker disciple....so there!!! Seriously tho 😈
Don Barnes ain't no slouch. Badass. Not mentioned enough. Saw them in 1984 and 1996. Carlisi obviously awesome too.
Wow Donnie Barnes cam really play the guitar in addition to his awesome voice. Great video.

The SUPER 70S bands provided all of that great music, all the way from the 70s to the new melienium and the end of good music.

Don barnes il mio chitarrista preferito....
@Grumberf The one in blue is Don Barnes and the one in red is Jeff Carlisi.
Love it
Este es el 38 Special que más me agrada, en la voz de Donnie Van Zant se escucha más original y con estilo propio sin parecer a Linner Squiner
Great - Dan's best period!!!
I need the bass tab damn!!!
from MTV Saturday Night Concert 1981 or 1982
1981, dont know about the mtv bit, it was done in Colorado.
That riff though
I believe that's Jeff Carlisi in the red shirt playing the Gibson Explorer, am I correct ? So this is Pre 1990 ? !!!
1981 I think in Colorado
@2000tc88 It sure is brutha !!! Today's music pales in comparison .. wait a tic .. there is no comparison .. lol

@mcgaheefamily Thanks for the comment, but doing it all in higher case says your SHOUTING,so turn caps lock off OK.
where was this recorded?
Denver, I think it was, early 80s
People that just don't make them like this anymore....................
@Kingsnake77 Great guitarist aint he,thanks for the comment.
I really miss Donnie. they just kind of pushed him to the side at some point. I guess they thought he sounded too much like Ronnie in Skynyrd.
Really, I thought it was basicaly his and Don's band. So he is not in the band any more??
No. Was Donnie's choice. Hearing issue.
He retired cuz he is losing his hearing
Yes I am...
