    I think most of your theories have merit especially using buffer with bismuth shot. I also use 1" of soft felt filler wads under the shot of my best performing 12 ga. Bismuth load. I think these soft filler wads provide cushioning for the Bismuth shot on set back and prevent fracturing. I have also noticed this fracturing on my patterns tests. This 1 oz. load of #8s was developed for upland use. It patterns beautifully at 50 yards. If you are using the KPY Ballistics Software it states that these #8s at 1405 fps will penetrate 1/2" of gel at 53 yards. This what I think is needed for Doves and Quail. The load just starts running out of pattern density when it loses the needed knockdown power right at 50 yards. Perfect Balance between pattern density and knockdown power.

    Great review thank you! I noticed my 6 shot Boss is splitting cases as well

      All of my Boss factory ammo has issues. I have Boss 2 3/4" 5 and 3/5 that split and also 3" 5 that split on initial firing. Such a shame as the 3" hulls from Cheddite are not available at this time (from any sources that I have access to). Perfectly good hulls that are one and done.

    Could you do this with Epic Shotshells I picked some up for the bride before I found you a week ago and we talked about you TSS Bismuth data. Wads and powder coming to load them up for her.

    In your Honest opinion, do you think Bismuth worth the money to Load and Hunt with?

      In certain applications it is....It's way less than TSS....It's more than steel....but if your target game is 30yds and in. I think steel wins in the (dollar per shot) test

    What is your favorite 28 ga load for ducks within 35 yards? New to sub gauges. Shooting Browning BPS. Love the video. Thanks!

      @bullet225ho  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For 35 and in steel in 6 or larger will work if you do your part. If you want to spend some money per round then there are several bismuth offerings and I'd say 6 or 5's in bismuth. If you hand loading.......Then my 3/4oz or 11/16s oz of steel loads work will inside of 35 with 5 or 4 shot. TSS duplex will kill birds at range in the 28. I have a few loads on my website. www.bullet225ho.com

    The so called reasons for the blended shot is different size bismuth pushing against each other, shattered less than same size, but it still shattering and going way way off target

    I’m trying to decide between a steel duplex of 1/4oz of number 9 TSS and 3/4 oz number 4 steel or straight boss bismuth, number 5’s or 6’s. How do you think it will perform differently as far as effectiveness on ducks, or is there even enough TSS for there to be an advantage? This will be in a 20 gauge

    • @bullet225ho
      @bullet225ho  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think 1/2oz of TSS is the sweet spot for all guages for waterfowl....unless your shooting 7s for geese. I've not played with the 20ga except for a duplex of HW-15...I don't have the numbers on me but it patterned well. With that many 4s you could expect a nice pattern up close. I'm not sure what the weight would be...but you'd probably end up around an ounce and a 1/4. I'd have to put it together. with 1/2oz of TSS you'd have 178 pellets just in TSS. That's just shy of the 196 bismuth pellets in 1oz load of 5s. The TSS will be lethal farther than you can comprehend......plus you'll have a good bit of 4 steel opening the pattern up early. The bismuth will die out on energy around 38-40yds. You'll be able hand load the TSS duplex cheaper than you can buy boss bismuth that's buffered...warchief.

      @@bullet225ho so in summary you think it is more effective as well as more cost effective than the boss Warchief. Where do you buy your shot shell components at?

    Great video and breakdown. I agree that using Longshot in a 28ga is a challenge because of higher pressures as compared to Lil Gun. My go to pattern paper is flooring paper from Home Depot but not waterproof like yours.
