I am a non-practicing Catholic school survivor (as I got older I realized that religions and many of their preachers are all hypocrites to the words they preach) who still believes there is a God and has read the Bible (because the nuns beat us if we did not). I feel that these Psalms are perfect when praying about SCOTUS, Psalm 3:7, 143:12, 59. God willing He will deliver us from Clarence "Uncle" Thomas and (another) "Christian" hypocrite Alito. 🙏🕊💙✨

I'm a recovering Catholic, too - 12yrs of Catholic school and Catechism 6 days a week. I started questioning the hypocrisy in Catholicism in Jr. High. Then, when I took Major Religions of the World in college, it solidified my break from organized religion and Christianity. I feel ya, fellow Catholic school recoverer. 😊

My hope is once Clarence Thomas leave they eliminate that position. Yes, I want them to reduce the number of justices that can be appointed. Secondly, I want term limits. Thirdly, I want accountability to help end the corruption.😊
I agree. There should be term limits. The Presidency is the "highest office in the land" yet is only for four years. Why is the Supreme Court a lifetime position then?
And I would like to see the supreme court even out with democrats and republicans...

My suggestion to help limit the damage of partisan Judges. Retire them at 70, ten year terms, extend the Bench to 13, Illegal to take cash or gifts of any amount INCREASE SCOTUS Salary by $100,000 per year. Jail for offering or giving judges cash or money
Create a panel of three retired Judges empowered to remove Judges from rulings where conflicts arise. 9 of the 13 Judges rule and the panel made up randomly on each decision from the 13 Judges . No Judge can Preside over a case involving who appointed them. Looking at you Judge Loose Cannon

I think justices should be Elected by the people in each district. That would stop political appointments and add more to.

They also have reviews written by lawyers who rate the judges in the areas of how they are to work with, fairness, treatment of plaintiffs and defendants, etc. Maybe there is something like that on a federal level?
Definitely more legislation needs to be put in place. Forensic background checks, term limits, mental health assessment and age limits. I dont see how it functions right now. The corruption is so obvious that when cases come up for approval you must have to duck from all the daggers thrown. This is all strategic. Really bad information will be revealed and the ones in question wont let the door hit them on the way out. 💙💙💙💙💙

Term limits for SCOTUS are not the answer! No one from either side would want a smart astute judge kicked out because of a time/age limit. The answer is creating an ethical oversight mechanism that allows impeachment after the findings of wrongdoing or bias.

Yea, the problem is with the supreme court judges, having a lifetime appointment is ridiculous, I don't want to work at the same job, as long as I'm alive. I think if you want their job as a supreme court judge, I think you should re-up your knowledge of the laws. And yes I do agree with you David as far as having a new round of judges as elections come in. Every four years, change the supreme court judges.

I disagree with every four years...that just means that whichever party is in power will have judges on their side. That's not checks and balances. Term limits, yes, but not in coordination with presidential election years.

Several years ago, I read an op-ed that suggested 18-year SCOTUS terms. The author had done the math and said this would allow each president to appoint 2 justices.

Point is.. it's a more populous country than it was 70 or even 40 years ago. I'm 68, so I know! We already have problems getting cases to the SC because they're so overloaded. Having one justice for each district would ease that a bit.

The reason we had 8 justices was because McConnell would not let Obama replace RBG. There were nine justices before that for decades.

I think it's a stitch of credulity that the republicans ay fair. Who's to say that they wouldn't pack the court even further. They've proven that they can't be trusted. We ought to take. their toys away and send them to their room. After a firm paddling! We can't give them any oppotunities.

I view the judge position like I view that wise monkey on lion king. Or that seer on Vikings. There for a very long time due to age and wisdom. People may not like their decisions because times change but they remain the staple elders we need. I think they should stay until they pass away or retire on their own. We are losing connection to eldership.
